I CALLED this. I fucking said this would happen in the God of War III news article!

I wander if there will ever be an uber-successful trilogy franchise that actually stays as a trilogy...

Probably not.

In the lastest news: Mass Effect 3 will not be the last Mass Effect game. *ghasp* shock! horror!

I'm interested (though I heard about this earlier), because the ME universe is great. It would be a shame to just throw it in a bin after the trilogy.

And I'd love to play as other races, here's one for Elcors!

EDIT: Oh, and of course for Krogans! How could I forget them!

I hope they make an MMO out of it! With all the species and planets it would be a great game.

As far as a humerous Elcor sidestory, well I kind of like the Elcor. I think they could be treated VERY seriously, but right now the animations and such aren't really up to the task of having them very active. Simply put it occured to me that while defined as a "minor race" nothing said they didn't have a (relatively small) military, and arguably they are able to protect their limited number of colonies. They struck me as potentially being very dangerous (strong, and durable) and quite probably able to wear ridiculously heavy armor and tote heavy weapons of a sort that would utterly break the backs of other species. Slow, but I figured they would be like the ultimate heavy combat troopers when properly motivated by defense or a galactic threat.
I'm actually pretty sure there's an in-game codex that states Elcor have been known to weild weapons typically mounted on human-made tanks, but since they've evolved to move so slowly ([small]it's built into their psyche from evolving on a heavy gravity world to be slow so as to not trip, mainly because tripping on their home planet typically results in death[/small]) they usually can't make proper decisions in the heat of combat, they rely on advanced V.I. for that.

So no Elcor super soldiers, unfortunately.

I approve of these news ^^
Being a big Mass Effect fan and equal if not more to Bioware themselves. I'm positive there is potential for greatness!

Great, they have a whole framework for a universe down. Now they can make game after game taking place in that universe.

This is how MMO's are conceived, people. You get the universe down, you make a bunch of games taking place in the universe, and then you feel comfortable enough with all of the lore and nature of your made up universe to let people interact and play together inside of it.

Probably won't be the first project after ME3 but I guarantee they will make an Mass Effect MMO if TOR does well. Honestly I'd like to see a one shot game in the style of the original trilogy that allows you to play a wide range of origins (human, turian, asari, etc.) and a vast divergent plot.

So? Pump them up with adrenaline and caffeine and Red Bull and whatever you can find in the cabinet under your sink and they'll be fast and wired enough to fight.

Guaranteed

Well the Saren Prequel has been done in book form so I dont think that is worthwhile, but a Krogan and First contact war would be good.
anyway if you want to expand on an interestin species go for the Hanar. Now that could make an interesting game!

Asari Dating sim anyone?

I'd rather not have prequels as RPGs. Maybe as shooters or RTSs or something. The RPGs should move the time line forward.

Guys, relax, as far as I can tell, this just means that they still want to make games within the Mass Effect universe. That doesn't mean they'll all be RPG's or even all about the humans.

And that's fantastic, because the ME universe is one of the most interesting sci-fi one's I've ever seen, on par with Dune and Star Wars.

Maybe a fucking awesome prequel where you get to be the Protheans and watch the Reapers butcher the entirety of your species, that would be kick ass. Or maybe something about the discovery and loss of the Leviathan of Dis! Or maybe something about the creation of the "great rift valley" on Klendagon which is really the result of a "glancing blow" by a mass accelerator round of unimaginable destructive power?!?!?! So many options............this is a great universe.

The world they've made is pretty damn decent, and I enjoy it, once they are done with the first 3 games they might want to farm it out to some other companies to produce different genres in the universe, maybe an RTS? That could be a lot of fun.

We're talking about massive and well thought-out setting where one could tell a lot ov different stories. So why the hell not?

I would love to see this, as long as it wasn't an MMO, and didn't depend too heavily on the established story. While I love the story of ME, I would hate to see it given fan wanky tongue baths (there's an image). A new game, new story, new characters, new races even, would b just fine.
