Mass Murderer Admits to Training Using Video Games

I am just sick and tired of people saying that games make people violent and now we got this but job who is just giving them more fuel to the fire. So what do you all think? How bad do you think this will hurt gaming? Will they even consider it valid since he seems crazy?

If he trained on Modern Warfare 2, then he must have been annoyed that he didn't get a Tactical Nuke after the first 25.

Anyway, this'll just be more fuel to the fire of the people who keep on going "Video games are bad". However, they were going to find that fuel one way or another anyway.

However, if I ever go on a killing spree I'm going to blame it on something like pop music or reality TV, just to see if the same sort of thing happens to those topics as it does to video games (highly unlikely)

Off-topic: I don't suppose anybody knows why whenever I put in a couple of apostrophes or quotation marks, it changes everything between them into token#0 or something along those lines?

This is old news, but it's on CNN's front page right now, because the killer brought it back up. I'm sure that he's quite aware that by bringing it up, his statement will get more attention and that he will get more attention.

The problem is that video games still hold a lot of mystique for people who don't understand them. As do guns. So, add these two things that have plenty of mystique and *BAM* it's a perfect storm of fear.

I talked to a relative a while ago about how he was worried that kids were learning how to use and fire guns through all of the video games they were playing. But if you know the first thing about video games and guns, you'd know that's ridiculous. The two are completely different. In fact, playing video games can often hurt first-timers in terms of gun use because of a lot of misconceptions and misunderstandings.

This won't hurt gaming in any way. Out of millions of CoD players, one adult mass murderer who just so happens to be one of the millions of players doesn't prove anything. Besides, he planned that for several years. Does he have a TV? Millions of people watch TV every day, just like millions of people play violent video games every day.

I had my Guild Wars 2 Pre-Purchase box arrive at my front door today, so I thought I'd give it a few swings to warm it up. How do you guys brandish these game-boxes for maximum impact? Like do you hold in two hands and swing with the flat edge to bludgeon noses, or grasp in one hand like a dagger? Should I be sharpening the corner up a bit? I don't think it'd do much damage as it stands, I mean it might cause a few bruises or something, am I doing it wrong? It's hard to believe these are more dangerous than guns...

I wonder if anyone involved in the trial actually took the time out to play MW2. I doubt anyone has, considering the article has to clarify what kind of game it is. MW2 is probably one of the worst ways to train for a shooting scenario. You have unrealistic abilities from the perks, the guns (most likely) handle quite differently from real life, and you have REGENERATING HEALTH. If anything, he's better off using America's Army.

I'm also wondering why the article bothered to mention the fact that he played WoW. That has absolutely no relevance to this situation, no matter what the circumstance.
