and I'm back, yeah. Just got power back last night, and got cable back only minutes ago. Two days without power sucks, could be worse, we had a generator set up to the heat, other wise, fuck. Had to go outside and bring my turtles in, then they wouldn't stop making noise. Could of been worse, but still, pretty shit storm. Radio was reporting something like 80 - 90 percent without power in most areas.

Sorry, I had to. :p

I've never heard of driving bans due to snow. How deep is it now?
Funny thing about this:

Ontario Canada, from Windsor all the way to the East coast pretty much got this...

I'm curious as well, the photo is an exaggeration (at least for Western Canada) and hereabouts we've never actually shut down car traffic due to heavy snow... things just really, really suck for awhile.

I only ever remember getting one Snow Day at school and that was way back in 1998 when we got 3 feet over night, but that's it, also I think my dad still went to work that day.

Here we modify our cars for most weather.

Yeah, I live in New Mexico. I don't think I've ever seen more then six inches of snow where I live, outside of the nearby mountains.

Brooklyn here, and the snow we got was only about ankle deep apparently (can't say for myself, been inside sick for the past several days).

Snow is my mortal enemy. My car cannot handle it well at all. The last time we had a somewhat deep snow, this happened.

I dread to see what happens when it melts.

Seriously...

We have had ~40cm of heavy snow here in coastal Finland in 5 hours. You don't walk on the streets atm. You ski around them.
Yet everything is going on like normal. Even the old folk are out on the downtown market square. Busses aren't even late.
Even the airplanes are not late.
I think so countries should look north for bit of help about snow. America, for once look at Canada for example!

At least you get proper weather.

All I have to look forward to is a bit more queuing in the rain.
Well, it depends on where you live. There was a time when I actually enjoyed a bit of rain, but then I moved to Vancouver.

I live in Ottawa and that's just a snow storm for us. You haven't seen a blizzard.
It would seem something has gone a bit wrong with your image there, chum.

thats pretty good storm you got there or just stupid people? i never heard anything ever closing becuase of a storm, and we had pretty darn big winters (this one was cold but little snow, the snow didnt even reach above my head).
*Looks at birth date.* "1989"

a blizzard around the same category of the blizzard of 1978
Does that mean that I don't know anything about WWII because I wasn't born in 1939?

Man, if I lived in the Northeast, I'd probably die. Not from the cold, but because I only buy food at most a couple days in advance, so this massive blizzard would've probably caused me to starve to death. Still though, I do like snow.
If you lived in New York you'd be fine. I went to a local Chinese restaurant during hurricane sandy.

Where on earth is that?

Eastern Ontario took a walloping last Friday. Everything from Toronto through London was shut down. I'm in Guelph, and I had to walk to the far end of town to find a store that was still open. Every university was shut down entirely, and the busses were running late if they showed up at all.

Meanwhile, today all that snow melted and it's been raining like a ************.
