Ok.... I'm glad the extended cut was free. Cause it certainly wasn't worth buying. It certainly did clear up one or two plot holes for me.... but it is still a terrible ending. Just a better ending then what we were given in the first place.

I only went with RED for this time... i'll pick the blue and green endings later on different characters (or red again with different characters who made other choices). But for now... Skyrim got my attention.

I predict the the new endings will likely be massive compromises. By which I mean that they still won't be what many people are hoping for. Even excepting that "you can't please everyone" which is quite true, BioWare cannot lose the old multi-coloured nonsense and the Ghost Child drivvel without being seen to be compromising "artistic integrity" or "original vision" or some rubbish like that and admitting that their ending(s) sucked harder than a biotic singularity before.

So new endings...there will likely remain everything up until the "ending machine", the initial videos will probably play as before, but there will be more cutscene of things happening. These things will likely include a flash of surviving squadmates/love interest, a brief shot of the Rachnii queen (if she lived), Cal'Reeger (s/p?) and other surviving NPCs with what they were up to during the battle. Maybe if we're lucky, there'll be an image of Shepard (unlikely), or the aftermath of the player's choice, in the form of a shot of various worlds and how it looks after the war.

So yeah, a big compromise. They'll extend the endings to include more shots of people and places, but in order to stay "true" to the shit endings they originally included, they'll probably keep them shit. I suspect that any hope of an actual "good" ending will be swiftly dashed.

But the current cycle had no idea what it did until they pressed the power button, and they actually had the time to build the entire thing. And it's explicitly stated throughout the series that the Reapers left technology behind to ensure every cycle developed the same technology at roughly the same rate, so there's little sense in another species both figuring out what it did and being able to improve upon the design before they were able to build it to completion.

And they can't have built it to completion, because even if the Crucible isn't built right, its still shown that it destroys all of the Mass Relays when activated.
I'm aware that the races developed the left behind technology at the same rate. Technology is the operative word there, you seem to be skimming over the fact that different people think in different ways, and develop in different ways culturally and this can affect the applications of technologies even if they develop at the same rate. And also, you don't have to know what something does to be able to find flaw in the designor a way to simplify a function, besides, not all of the races developed exactly identically, you only have to look at the races in the current cycle to see that
