OT: I still haven't tried the multiplayer on Mass Effect 3, I've heard it's fun but it never really interested me from the beginning. Honestly, I've barely played any of Mass Effect 3. I originally had the series for Xbox but because I've turned to PC gaming I decided to get the series on PC. I just did a speed run through the first 2 and then started the 3rd. A little after the mission on Palaven's moon I got bored of Male Shepard though, and decided to restart the series again as FemShep, doing a more thorough run-through on both games before restarting the 3rd.

I'll try the multiplayer eventually, but completing the series is more of a priority for me since I don't buy the Mass Effect games for multiplayer.
The multiplayer is pretty fun. There's only 4 maps (?) though, 3 types of enemies (Reapers, Geth, Cerberus), 3 difficulty levels, so... ~36 variations.

Pros:
It's more challenging than single player.
You get lots of numbers, and numbers unlock stuff.
Play with friends.

Cons:
You can randomly get lag spikes, not sure what causes them.
Lots of loading screens.
Your team might be challenged [mentally].

Overall it's fun Horde Mode gameplay. It's challenging, and good with one+ friends. More varied opponents than Left 4 Dead. But it has very few maps and objectives. If you don't enjoy it, but are a completionist for single player it only takes a few rounds to top up your Galactic Readiness to 100%.

Cheers!

So on the topic... who's actually managed to complete a Reaper mission on Silver?

I've never managed to get past Wave 10. Gorram Banshees :p Guess I'm contributing to the Brute kill-count at least.
I've yet to play a match where I don't have a person go AFK, or a person try it at level 1, or with a Charge/Nova Vangaurd that fails by charging first and then nova-ing, and then getting insta-killed by the Banshee.

It would be nice if you couldn't join a silver or gold match with a level 1 character.

I have, once and I had to waste everything but my thermal clips Wave 9 was the hardest since we got totally swarmed Had a TPK but I used a medi-gel and spent the next 10-15 minutes running around the map slowly killing everything, then died within the first 30 seconds of Wave 10

Although I've only tried twice. Both times with my Turian sentinel. Once at level 16, then another at 20 with what I think is the best assault rifle in the game; The M-99 Saber 1, sure it only holds a total of 48 shots and weighs a tonne but it does stupid amounts of damage and is pretty accurate to boot.

Captcha: that's it?

Screw you captcha, I felt like a total badass when I beat wave 9 :(

If you believe the single player was crap, you are in a VAST minority and your opinion will be dismissed by 99% of people who've played the game, myself included. The single player was the greatest I have ever played right up until the the very end, where it admittedly turned to crap. That hardly negates the rest of the game, which was beyond great.

...failings of the single player campaign....
Wut? The Singeplayer campaign is great. I mean, you can't say the singleplayer failed just because 10 minutes of a 25+ hour game was bad.
I can say it failed for many other reasons. If the game was the ending in loop for 30 hours I think that might've been an improvement. Atleast then the game is forthright about its utter crap. With me3 its like they polished up shit until it shined.

They ruined everything great about the series.
the morality system
the character interaction
the lore development
the choices.
I find it amusing you spent so much time raging about Bioware and EA before it released, yet you still bought it.

Let me get this straight. This entire thread is about fanboys gushing about how "AMAZING" and "PERFECT" it is(except the ending) but my ONE comment about how abysmal the game is, sets you off? Yes, that makes you a fanboy. Any normal human being would shrug their shoulders and go about their merry business. if ANY criticism of the game makes you upset. DING DONG! YOU'RE A FANBOY!

It's also not 'useless' or 'inane'. Did it ever occur to you that Mass Effect 3 isn't perfect? That the game is not this golden chariot cascading down a rainbow? Does that idea seem foreign to you? jesus christ. fanboys these days.

I actually haven't attacked Dragon Age. I liked DA:O and DA2.
Only fanboys speak in absolutes, Zeel. Just because you think that ME3 was shit, doesn't make it so. Remember, the difference between "I personally think this game sucks" and "THIS GAME DEFINITIVELY FUCKING BLOWS" can be the deciding factor in whether or not you come off as a total jerk. Which is exactly what's happening.

Also: not being a "golden chariot cascading down a rainbow" =/= OMG TOTAL SHIT

OT: Eh, I'll see what this event is before I decide whether I want to participate or not. I like the multiplayer, but maybe not enough to justify spending any more extra time on it.
He said it's not perfect. The only logical disagreement to that point if you think it is perfect which is an absolute. As you said, speaking in an absolute = fanboy.

Out of curiosity, what was it you liked about tali/legion scene.
I did the Paragon version of the scene where you save/recruit both the Quarian and Geth fleets by uploading the Reaper code to the Geth and talking down Admiral Han'Gerrel.

To me it was just a pretty powerful moment. The story of the Quarians and Geth was always one of the parts of the Mass Effect universe that I was most fascinated by, and I always really liked both Tali and Legion as characters. So it was pretty emotional to me to see the two of them clash, in order to defend their own people, with Shepard caught in the middle having to talk down a gung-ho admiral before her friends kill each other. And I liked that afterward when you talk to Tali in the Normandy, she tells you that despite the peace between the Quarians and Geth, a lot of the Quarians are still pretty wary about the situation. It's a small comment, but I liked it because it showed that things weren't automatically all sunshine and rainbows and lollipops... that full trust might happen eventually, but would take some time.

I've watched the Renegade versions of the Tali/Legion standoff, and yeah... I really don't feel much of anything at all for them.

The single player is not crap, there are many many many hours of very good fun, in the single player, and i didn't hate the ending i would like to know what happened but as a away to end the franchise i say well done.

Zeel, do you have to turn every thread you enter into a mess?
The answer is no, don't be a smart arse because thats part of your problem.

The ending is what makes it crap, the rest is very good.

I am still a little surprised at just how good the multiplayer is, although findind somebody who isn't a moron to play with is proving harder than it is in most games. I think it's because you can't play multiplayer the same way you play singleplayer.

I've done it 4 times with the same team. I was leeching off them, but I was still trying to do my part. It wasn't on purpose...But yeah. I managed to clear out a banshee with them ^^.

OT: Have we already gotten to the Million Brutes? Assuming there's at least 5 Brutes per round, then 200,000 rounds would need to be played. And that's 5 on Bronze if you get the "Kill important targets" only once. So 200,000 bronze reaper games? Hm.

I see they are really push the whole Mutliplayer thing. I doubt this will be successfull. The multiplayer is only 'surprisingly fun' because it just barely reached the standards of 'average multiplayer'. Ergo its mediocre but because it doesn't completely suck, people play it.

Now, if Bioware wants to compete in the multiplayer market they are going to get their asses handed to them
Except it's actually a pretty damn good horde mode.
Would you really describe it as pretty damn good? With all due respect, I didnt think it was anything more than mediocre either. Sure, its fun, but not more fun than most other horde modes.

I thought it was on par with other games horde modes but vastly inferior to Halo: Reach's Firefight.
In my honest opinion, Firefight is too easy, the AI isn't exactly the most intellegent thing in the word, often killing themselves by mistake and its far too easy to get carried in there. That's why I prefer ME 3 and Gears of War's horde modes. Its a matter of teamwork.

I think that we should be there by now, Since haven't like 3.5 million copies been sold? And I would guess that at least 1/3 of the people probably play online and I don't remember if it needed to be on silver or if that was just for the special "commendation pack" or whatever. But my guess is that we should have. I did what I could, I spent most of the weekend fighting only reapers whenever I played and most of the matches I ever joined seemed to be fighting reapers.
