Hawken feels a hell of a lot more than a cheap COD clone than a Mech game. :S This is the main reason why I stopped playing, you get that feeling that if you get them from behind you can sceed. Mod rules no matter what, and it's a random shit-show when you finally hit someone face-to-face. Further more, the customization you find in a typical mech game is shot.
Also, the latest front mission... The Genre change did not help it at all. It also feels like a cheap COD Knockoff. If it were a TBS, I would have been all over that shit, and probably still playing it. But the sections where you jump out of your mech were so dull and boring, I just stopped playing, and I never bought my own copy. My brother wanted to return it as well, as he didn't like it.
I guess I got used to Phantom Crash, for the old X-box. You can modify your mechs so you've got a mech with 6 legs, a sniper rifle, chain-saw, and 2 middle packs, or have a mech with a wheel on each leg, rocket launchers, and a mortar and laser on it's shoulders. Everything else pales in comparison to something with that capability and fast paced action, or turned based strategy if we look at Front Mission 3.
I'm gonna have to look at these titles that people mentioned here. I've been needy for a mech game I don't have to code myself. Perhaps when I'm done my Rain System, I'll make a Mech TBS like FM3.
