Honestly, I don't think there's alot of hype per-se, I just think that since there's a bunch of guns and asplotions people are going to buy it and say "Yeah! this game is awesome. :D" as apposed to "YEAH!! THIS GAME RUUOOOLES!"

Recently, I've found it hard to be "hyped" up/Looking forward to any game now. Maybe it's because they're all starting to look the same to me, but never the less I'm going to buy them.

Did any of you hear me the first time?!!?!?
I've played it already, it was pretty good, but not incredible, the story is better than it was in the first and there are a bunch of fun semi-frustrating mini games to go through, the missions are fairly unique and the vehicles are better, and the timed button press hijacking is fun too

The weapons seem to be every bigass gun you think of, and every bigass vehicle you can think of.
Did anyone else think the first one was just a sub-par third person shooter with an alright-at-times story to hold it all together? Let me know if you agree or disagree, I'd like to hear your opinions either way.
I want the game, but moreso for the reason yahtzee loves painkiller than any game with actual substance that I want. You can have them drop a fucking monster truck in the game or even a nuke, totally fucking awesome. Don't expect a good story as much as one that makes the drunken fratboy in you feel awesome.
I wish I could do that sometimes, but the drunken frat boy who used to be in me is dead, I bludgeoned him to death with a can of potatoes after he beat me at chess. Which really shows how bad at chess I am. Anyway, enough of my lunatical ravings.

I don't go for shooters so I probably won't get it. But I like the commercial.

I also enjoy the commercial, the song makes me chuckle. Doesn't make the game any more appealing though.

That commercial song is a bit catchy.

But yes, I'm going to Gamefly for this one. It's a rental, but probably not much more than that. There are so many shooters on the market these days your head gets to spinning about which one to pick, really.

I played the first one on PS2 and it was quite fun. The story was pretty weak, but the leaders of each of the factions were pretty fun to talk to. But the most fun to be had was in just mucking around, blowing shit up. It definitely beats GTA 3, if you ask me.

The new one looks pretty cool, I remember seeing screens in GI, haven't actually seen any vids. But there are other games that I'm more excited about coming soon.

Don't see the appeal and there are too many games coming out for me to want to buy it.

It doesn't appeal to me. If I know someone that has it, I may borrow it but I won't buy it.

Average, a sandbox game with its only unique feature being that it isn't set in a city and your missions are for a military contractor rather than your local gang (sign up today for GTA!).
Since when can you call up carpet bombing and artillery strikes in GTA?! Seriously though, I think the "destruction on demand" (to steal a phrase from The Outfit) was probably the coolest thing about the game.
Yes, this game did have the capacity to call in air strikes (which, granted, wasn't in GTA) but you had to unlock most of them (and even then, they cost a tad too much for my liking) and they only ever found use in destroying objectives in missions (in which case you were often forced to use them) so they weren't so much 'destruction on demand' as it was 'I've killed all the bad guys, wheres my pay check?'.

My friend is ecstatic about Mercs 2. I've yet to play the first one, but he still wont shut up about how great it is. I might borrow it off him. The current videos of Mercs 2 seem really promising so it seems like a Crackdown-esque game, but it looks a hell of a lot more fun.

But Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 are on my immediate radar, so it may have to wait.
