I mostly listen to Progressive Metal with some Nu Metal and Metalcore thrown in every once in a while.

My favorite band would be Dream Theater and my favorite song by them is Strange Deja Vu.

I love a mix of all metal, but I guess right now I listen to a lot of power metal. If I were to make my own band it'd be a cross between 80s metal and power metal.

Favorite band is and always will be Metallica, favorite song The Four Horsemen. I feel like I've answered that question on this site so many times :p
Looking at yur avatar I guess your also a fan of Iced Earth

My favorite genre changes almost every week, I like everything in metal apart from that new age alternative garbage (Disturbed, BFMV etc).

So I guess I'll list the genre's I listen to the most:
Melodic Death Metal. Fav bands - Scar Symmetry, Arsis, Children of Bodom and At the Gates.
Technical Death Metal. Fav bands - Arsis, Necrophagist
Progressive (death)Metal. Fav bands - Buckethead(probably the "closest" fit for this man lol), Opeth, Meshuggah, Ayreon
Trance Metal (new style that's building in popularity), style is pretty much owned by these guys:

I like too many different varieties and bands to really have any one particular "favorite" song, though I am especially fond of metal with a symphonic bent and female vocalists in general. So I shall just go ahead and post the song running through my head at this particular moment.

I'm strange in that I like metal, but not most metal (same goes for music in general). For me, it's mostly Manowar, Dio and Iron Maiden, and also Hammerfall, Rhapsody of Fire and Holyhell. New Wave of British Heavy Metal is decent stuff. Does anyone have any similar recommendations?

I also have a major problem with my sister, who only listens to pop/R&B, and thinks that heavy metal is somehow "emo".

You might want to check out groups like Falconer, Karelia, Kamelot, Avantasia, or Serenity given the bands you just listed.

Yarr, it be Pirate Metal!

Keelhaul that filthy landlubber, send him down to the depths below! Make that bastard walk the plank, with a bottle of rum and a yo-ho-ho!

Not really, but that is good. Progressive Metal is the best. My favourite song of all time?

I like most metal, but mainly songs that have a bit more recognisability in them. Perticularly the more groove-oriented stuff. You get some metal that's just an unrecognisably complicated and it makes me appreciate it less.

Not to say I don't apreciate the more porgressive bands. But generally, I like my metal simple and heavy...
...like your mum! :p

Anyway, favourite bands include Lamb of God, Mastodon, AC/DC, Motorhead, Metallica and Slayer.
