I don,t get it what was this game meant to be other than a completely over the top hack and slash , I mean your playing as raiden you know the 180lb cyborg (or maybe not) ninja/samurai of not giving a fuck

did you people miss MGS4 or something you know where he stopped a battleship with one arm took on a squad of geckos and fought of multiple squads of cyber troopers with no fucking arms

so saying this is out of character or has the wrong tone is madness cyborg raiden is nothing but a vessel for awesome amounts of cheese (who could take his I,am lightning quote with out at least cracking a grin)

In fact I'm even going to go as far saying making a stealth game even if i do love metal gear would be a waste of potential

In MGS2 he was snake with a higher pitched voice and blonde hair ... He sneaks, chokes, hangs, shoots, holds people up and takes on huge walking tanks with nothing more than a small arsenal and a huge set of nuts.

So which version do we consider being the real Jack? The no armed ninja with a sword or snake 0.5?

I really like the Metal Gear universe, because of the titular Metal Gears, and I'm looking forward to this one, as well. I actually never really liked the gameplay, so this might be a nice change.
As long as the story works, I'm fine with it. I just think they should have left some things unexplained, instead of boiling it all down to the N-word* in MGS4.

*by that I mean Nanomachines. Seriously, a possible Supernatural element is much more interesting than a half-assed technobabble explanation.

That's not entirely true. For example, it was explicitly stated that Vamp does have supernatural-y regeneration. The nanomachines just amplified it to the point where he couldn't be killed by anything. Similarly, Fortune (Although not in 4) was able to deflect a rocket despite her shield having shorted out earlier, suggesting that the Patriots were only augmenting that ability and it was something she had innately.

Edit: There is also that whole thing with whether or not Ocelet just hypnotized himself into believing he was Liquid or if Liquid was actually possessing him.

I'm a big fan of the MGS series and here are my first toughts

1)the game could be good it doesn't matter that its different from the other games
2)the game is completely disconected with the rest (mgs 1,2,3,4) like MGS acid 1 and 2
3)this game seems more like a spinoff bringing new stories and characters which means that there will be more games like the first ones

So don't take it like a complete change of the series just enjoy it for what it is this is not a new direction it's a different type of game

Seriously, Metal Gear Solid 5 was just confirmed a few weeks ago. Tactical espionage action is not dead.

Why not both its not like character's have to be completely static they do develop over time

But if I had to pick just one I'd go with cyborg raiden better to have some unique aspect to the character than to just be a more whiny version of an already existing one ( but even then hes just sorta gray fox 1.1)

How come? Raiden in MGS4 was pretty over the top. He stopped Outer Heaven with only one arm.

I don't know how big Outer Heaven is exactly, but it was city-sized. I mean...it carried 25 Metal Gear RAYs in it's hangar.

Since this new game is pretty much a clusterfuck. I want Gray Fox to be a playable character so I don't have to deal with lame ass Raiden. Yes throwing Metal Gear Ray and slicing it in half still makes him the lamest character out of Konami.

I would also like to add at this point I want MGS to fade away because I been waiting too fucking long for Zone of the Enders 3. That's the fucking game you should have Platinum working with Konami. Not another Kojima lampoon because he still thinks Raiden is the coolest shit since ice cream.
