That was beautiful.

I was just being an arse; he said that was an option so I picked it. How often do I get that opportunity? Thanks for the advice though dude.

Got the new Disturbed album last week and I was disappointed with it. It wasn't heavy at all and I really expected it to be more like Indestructible.
Why would you want it be more like Indestructible as opposed to more like The Sickness or Ten Thousand Fists. Those were much more of metal than Indestructible.

I have to agree with some people and say find more obscure stuff. There are still a lot of metal bands out there, it just depends on what kind of metal you're into. Progressive metal doesn't usually go soft, because it kinda already is. However, if you're into thrash and such, you probably wouldn't like progressive as much anyway.

I really can't think of any really heavy stuff now a days that I actually like. I've been listening to a lot of power and progressive metal now.

Perhaps you would like Sevendust? Their kind of a niche thing but you might like it. Try out their album Home if you haven't already.

I do what I always do when looking for good Metal: Go a little deeper than whatever's on the music channels. I can't stand Disturbed and their Ilk. Of modern metal, by far my favourite bands are Protest the hero and Periphery, though SikTh have been doing similar stuff a few years ago and went criminally unnoticed.

Then of course there's Devin Townsend or Tool who I can always rely on for a masterclass album every time.

Not a big fan of the voice, but the guitar was awesome!

Speaking of Modern thrash, Have you heard Evile? They're pretty much just ripping slayer off, but they're a hell of a lot of fun!

[small]Thrash all kinda sounds the same anyway... >.>[/small]

All I know is I can't stand all the metalcore crap trying to pass itself off as real metal these days. Disturbed has never really been exactly metal, but they're still alright and can be heavy in a different way.

Thrash metal? Okay. Definitely the new OverKill, Exodus "Exhibit B" is excellent, Heathen's comeback album is great oldschool stuff, new ones from Horrorscope and Onslaught are on the way, Demonica is damn good, the new Witchery is cool (though I miss Toxine), King's Evil apparently has a new one ready to go though nobody seems to know when it's going to come out. If you haven't tried 'em already, check out The Scourger, Lazarus A.D., Dew-Scented (weird name, good thrash), Maniacal, maybe Sworn Amongst...oh yeah, and Savage Messiah (band name probably ripped off from Arch Enemy, sound & some riffs ripped off from Testament, vocalist sounds like Dave Mustaine, still manages to kick ass.)
Definitely digging that list. Add to it Municipal Waste (wikipedia calls them a thrash crossover band but if you've been to a MW concert you know its fucking thrash)

Disturbed wasn't that heavy to start with, the only really metal album was indestructible, and even that was pretty soft for metal. Try some death metal bands if you want heavy new stuff.

Protest the Hero? Periphery? SikTh? DEVIN TOWNSEND? TOOL??? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?! Seriously, I love all of those bands/artists, Periphery and Protest the Hero especially.

To me, a lot of bands could be considered metal. Although some of the more prog metal bands can get really soft at times, even prog DEATH metal bands. I love throwing my non-metalhead friends with that stuff. A personal favorite of mine is playing Breathe In, Breathe Out by BTBAM and having it lead into Roboturner... just look up the songs to see what I'm talking about. XD

Band sounds evolve over time. Sometimes you try to make music that isn't exactly the same as the stuff you did 5 years ago. It's almost rare for a band to sound the same exact way for longer than a decade; any band that has been around for 15, 20, even 25 years have gone through serious progressions - some better, some worse.

Eh, I pretty much only listen to Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Megadeth for my metal. For my quasi-metal, I listen to Dragonforce, Black Sabbath, Avenged Sevenfold, and Diablo Swing Orchestra. No, I'm not kidding about that last one.

It's fine, I encourage free expression and "go fuck yourself" is always an option in conversation; it's there right next to the renegade option.

Since when was Disturbed a metal band? Pretty sure they've just always been American alternative rock, or whatever it's called these days.

In my opinion Disturbed was never really metal anyways. Not saying that like it's a bad thing, I still love 'em.

Look up Shelter Red.

Also, having done half an hour of science study for the exam tomorrow, I thought this would be about actual metals... o_O brainfuck
