Favourite band is Disturbed, I don't give a shit what genre they are(yeah, i don't know what to class them as) they're still fucking awesome.
Listen to thrash mainly, also some newer bands like Slipknot, Bullet For My Valentine(mainly the first album), Killswitch Engage bands like that.

I don't like death metal, grind core, rock and roll, classic rock and any old stuff.
I hate it when i say i don't like Led Zeplin, Black Sabbath and ACDC then some fucker has to ***** at me for it usually they say this:

"How can you say you like to rock, if you don't like Led Zeplin!?"

or

"Ha, you don't even know what rock is if you don't like Black Sabbath"

I HATE that, it drives me fucking crazy because i don't remember a law stating in order to like rock you HAVE to like those bands stated above. The spandex suits*shudders* is another thing i don't like.
Inb4 epic flame war.

And those quotes you have presented are true. How can you say you enjoy metal if you don't enjoy Led Zepplin or Black Sabbath?
I love Sabbath but I honestly think Led Zep sucks ass.

Anyone else into Gorguts and the like?

Seriously? There's a band called Arsis? XD
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arsis_and_thesis or so. I'm not entirely sure if Arsis is named after that, but it seems likely, especially given the contrast in melody and brutality of their previous works, and poetic lyrics.

My top 5 metal bands; Trivium, Dream Theater, Children Of Bodom, Slipknot (latest 2 albums are the best) and Metallica
Wow ive never heard anyone say they liked the new slipknot albums the most. Im curious man being a big slipknot fan, what is it that you like more about the new stuff?
Well, don't get me wrong, i love all their stuff, but vol3 and All hope is gone stand out to me because their more musically technical, with the guitar solos and extreme riffing in songs like the title track of All hope is gone. Also i prefer the more melodic approach some of the songs on the later 2 albums have in comparison to their more brutal, riff based style of old.

I saw DragonForce with Turisas live last Monday in Edmonton, Canada. It was such a rocking great show. Ahhhh, metal. Is there anything it can't do?

*twitches* Dragonforce.......That shit aint metal. I'll give them one thing, they can play (not live though). Try listening to some Thrash instead, early Metallica and Megadeth.

Anyway, for me. Give me old school thrash. Stuff like Killing is my Business....and Business is Good! and Kill em All (Fuck you Kirk, you ruined Dave's solos). Buy my favorite album of all time has to be Rust in Peace. Such an amazing album. The speed, complexity and lyrics are great (Tornado of Souls comes to mind).

Don't get me started on Metallica. I usually say that when Cliff Burton died, Metallica died, and "Newtallica" was born. They abandoned their music and fans and sold out.

Pantera another band I love, Dimebag Darrel is the reason to why I keep playing guitar. He inspires me to keep on playing. I love Cowboys from Hell and Vulgar Display of Power.

So my top 5 bands are, in order.
Megadeth
Pantera
Slayer
Down (Phil Anslemo's band, check them out, they're pretty good)
Metallica (Not "Newtallica")

One band that gets me going. Is an old English Death Metal band in the 70s and stuff called Bolt Thrower. I bloomin LOVE them! :3 I do like bands like Korn, slipknot and other stuff but it all really depends. Maximum the hormone an japanese metal band got me liking it too so I have a few I like really.
I like Bolt Thrower. They play the same thing over and over again to different lyrics, but they're still awesome.

I understand that Escapist is full of people who think they're always right, but how isn't Dragonforce metal, when what they do is called speed metal?
Seriously, people here should relax more, not try to sound so smart.
And Korn makes Nu-Metal, and SoaD makes alternative metal. If you like something death metal and those retarded growls, then it doesn't mean that it's the only form of metal there is.

I listen to a lot of metal. My favourite metal bands would have to be Dimmu borgir, Soulfly, Dream theater, Symphony X, Rammstein, Pantera, Trivium, Metallica, Iron maiden, Testament, Killswitch engage, Slipknot and Children of bodom. Also i think that metal is the greatest music genre ever to be made.

Hoping to see them live sometime next year. I can already tell from the live clips I've seen on youtube, they put on one hell of a show.

Sorry, I meant to quote RabidPotatoe. Might as well reply to your earlier post then.
You're telling people they should relax more, and then go off insulting some people for their taste in music (Death metal in this case). Nice!

If you would read what I said, then I wasn't directly insulting death metal, I was insulting the growls in death metal, but I was just trying to make a point that nu-metal and alternative metal are still metal, and that death metal isn't the only form of metal there is.
I wasn't insulting the genre in any way.

I also don't think that Dragonforce is metal. Maybe hardrock but not metal. Dragonforce just doesnt't sound like metal to me.

And IMO Nu-Metal isn't real metal. It's a mix of hardrock and grunge with a bit of punk.

Almost all the vocalists within the genre use death metal growls. Calling them retarded is an insult all right.

I don't disagree with you that nu/alternative metal is still metal.

honestly Dragonforce is metal now you can argue the semantics of whether or not they are good metal all day but they have all the expected elements of power metal almost to the point of a stereotype

Well, you were insulting the genre since you were insulting an integral part of the music. Oh, and just because nu-metal and alternative metal have the word metal in them, doesn't mean they are. The fact is they ar missing some of the most basic elements of metal. They have elements of punk, grunge and hard rock, but not really much metal.
