I'm curious as to what the metalheads on this site listen to. give us your reccomendations & favourites

My faves are bands like Tool, Opeth, Isis, Sepultura, Parkway Drive, Disturbed, Dream Theater, Metallica. I have recently discovered some other bands i really like such as Machine Head, Five Finger Death Punch, Cathedral, Children of Bodom etc.

Now your turn

I really don't know, I listen to a lot of random music. So, I'm just going to put up my current top five metal songs.

Loads man, I love metal. But Metallica, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Mastodon, Pantera and Testament are sort of 'the classics' to me. If I wanna hear some metal, I'll usually stick on something by any of those guys.

Grew up on PanterA, but now I mostly jam to Devildriver, Lamb of God, Amon Amarth, and 3 inches of blood

I think my favorite would be Killswitch Engage (with Howard). Or Apocalyptica.

I also listen to 5FDP, A7x, Nightwish, Mutiny Within, Scar Symmetry, All That Remains, Disturbed, Slipknot, Exodus, Kamelot, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, In Flames...I dunno if I count as a "metalhead," though (I like classical music and some alt "metal" too, like Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, and Halestorm, and I'm not a huge fan of 80s metal, with some exceptions).

Some songs I like:

(Yeah I know this is a cover; I like this better than the original)

It all depends on what you consider a metalhead. I wouldn't call myself a metalhead but it's what I usually get catagorised as mainly because of how I look. To be fair what I'd call a metalhead is a 40 year old guy who listens to Saxon, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Rainbow, Slayer, Metallica and bands like that and not a person who listens to bands like Disturbed, Parkway Drive or Bring Me The Horizon.

Myself I listen to Alice in Chains, Queen, Sum 41, Iron Maiden, Bathory, Pantera, Slipknot, Korn, Gorgoroth, Burzum, Mayhem, Immortal, Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, GWAR, Children of Bodom, Cannibal Corpse, Sepultura, Feeder, Elton John, Bob Marley, ABBA. I think my profile on here links to my Facebook and Last FM if you're really that curious as to what I listen to.

...it's not that technical, the definition is fairly self-explanetory

What bands are those songs by?

As for bands, I'm not a massive fan of In Flames, but a friend showed me some Arch Enemy and they're pretty awesome

It depends, I mean it's all catagorisation, I wouldn't consider a lot of people who say they're metalheads to be metal at all but they clearly do. It's like when 1 person says a band is metal but another person say's they're emo, it all depends on a persons stance in the great music debate.

I dabble in almost every genre (broadly speaking) but metal is by far my favourite. I could rattle off all the bands I listen to but we'd be here all night. It ranges from old classics like Sabbath and Maiden up to Gojira, Lamb of God and iwrestledabearonce. So yeah, diversity is my game :D

Oh, and I can't fucking stand musical elitists and metal, unffortunately, breeds a lot of them.

Oh man...
That's like asking which arm I like best.
Still Life and Ghost Reveries have great stories to them. Blackwater Park is just a masterpiece. Damnation is fuckin beautiful, I go to sleep with that album. But Watershed has the perfect balance of balls to the wall metal and acoustic awesomeness.
I can't choose =|

Well, as a guitar player i understand the pressure of choosing between arms :/ haha

I still don't have Still Life, I need to get it, but I can't find it anywhere :/ I'd say Blackwater Park and Deliverance are among best, but I've found myself shifting through them, one moment I love one album, then I love another, and another etc. They are all good
