Haha, long time reader, first time poster, Hi!

I've often seen the MGG stuff popping up in the sidebar when I come here to see the Zero Punctuation stuff, I'm sure many of you forum veterans are probably sick of new people turning up as a result of those reviews popularity, but meh.

I've often clicked and read the MGG reviews out of purest curiosity, I've noticed you ask for criticism as you're trying to be a professional reviewer, yet you never seem to take it on board for your next review, and it shows, you're showing a little improvement, but not a great deal, you really need to get someone to proof read all your stuff before you consider posting it.

Also, post on topics that are relevant to game play. No offense but I don't really think a run down of the new races history here was needed, anyone who's touched WCIII or the frozen throne knows a lot of this, and you're reviewing an expansion, they'd be clued in on a lot of it anyway. Why not focus on the new game mechanics, like flying or the new craft? Or that they're doing stuff to Azeroth also? It just feels like you're not covering the -key- aspects here.

Just some words of advice, Re-read your stuff before you post at least three times, and get other people to read it too.

Know your topic, even if you have to source information elsewhere.

And take criticism on board. For the love of God.

I think you all need to cut the boy some slack. At least hes trying...sure that dosen't account for quality but in the end he can say he gave it a go. Where are all of your reviews and perspectives on games? Too afraid to get critized? You aren't born knowing how to write something the public will love. You have to work your way to it. He knew he wasn't any good when he got the idea to try this. (lets hope he knew...>..<

Games review or not, its the grasp of english that needs work. For example "playing RPG'S to much aka-like me" is just shocking.

The best way to go forward is to read more. Perhaps even for a few years before more public reviews! I mean that quite seriously. Start by reading Gigantor's posts. Good writing takes character and experience, netiher of which you have yet. Such creative skills must be built from the basics up.

I am glad there were no music forums when I started to write songs. I'd probably die if people ever heard the tuneless shash that I thought passed for music! Ham-fistedly battering away on a guitar. However I stuck at both playing and writing and now I'm making a living from something I love! Slow down!

So if you're 12 - couldn't you talk to one of your teachers about your literary aspirations, and see if they'll at least proofread?

You could provide them with links to some professional game reviews, and then provide your review for editing. If nothing else, you get one-on-one face time with someone who can mentor you (http://www.absolutewrite.com/novels/mentors.htm gives you an idea what you should expect from a mentor).

In fact, there are a number of ways you could get constructive feedback:
-Propose a video game review section for your school paper, where your peers may edit your work.
-Contact current writers in the industry for feedback and advice on how best to get started.
-Take a creative writing class (if your school offers one).
-More importantly, take a technical writing class (see above caveat).

If your school doesn't offer one, look for summer courses geared towards middle school age kids at your local colleges/universities. I know I have taken writing courses before at nearby universities when I was in middle school (albeit years ago at this point).

In fact, the worst thing you could probably do is post your work on here, where you're bound to get far more negative comments and far less positive feedback than a face to face review. People are harsher online (http://www-usr.rider.edu/~suler/psycyber/disinhibit.html), which makes posting a budding writer's content online a dangerous proposition.

If anything, props for identifying writing as a potential professional interest. Most people don't figure out what they want to do with their lives until years and years down the road. Beginning now (with good training) gives you a huge leg up on many other developing writers. To do this, though, you have to get the proper training.

So make it happen - go get some formal training, then post up a review (preferably one that has been written, edited, thought over, and then edited some more). You will get some trolls, but you'll probably get quite a few people who will give you kudos for improving.

I think it's best if you stop blantantly lying and admit what you've done. That way, we can carry on as normal. You can carry on writing reviews, just don't pretend to be professional. People who say they are good often aren't: A fact of life.

As I'm pretty sure someone else said, slow down. Get someone to proof read your reviews, so that, even if the content isn't brilliant, people wont hate it. Hell, I'll even proof read it if it means we can have a normal discussion about it.

Next time you write a review, send it to me or anyone else who can help you, and they'll iron out everything so it's presentable.

Just out of curiousity - what does MGG stand for?

Also, how can you be 21 and in college if you were born in 1995 (Someone besides me has to remember him saying it, it was in one of his review threads, perhaps Mass Effect or WoW non-expansion)?

MGG, you really should try to proof-read your stuff or at least have someone do it for you. You also should stop the whole "professional reviews" thing, no one really buys into it; it's a wee bit pretentious as well. Also, random acts of sock-puppetry on a forum should just be grounds for banishment.

However, I also wish that this cycle of review->flame->reply will continue, it's really funny to watch.

You know how, at the end of a horror movie trailer, there's two people hiding in a closet, panting and bloodied, and one of them says 'I think he's gone...' and suddenly a hand bursts through the door and they scream? You know? I'm pretty sure that's not gonna happen here- I think, chaps and chappesses, he is gone.

It was good while it lasted though. We'll simply have to find other things to talk about. Speaking of which...(cheeky plug mode on) I've put a review/memory lane stroll of Morrowind up, so give it a look. Feedback appreciated, as ever (cheeky plug mode off). Same ideology then? If you stand on a big boulder(read as: community), fire at every Vietnamese(read as: criticize every user who doesn't approve of you) you see, and shout as loud as you can(read as: Say as many shenanigans as you can) then you become immune to everything? I doubt the escapist would ban a user who has people clamoring to post about his reviews. I mean, one guy even signed up just to post in this topic. What happened to that guys idea, "Lets not post in his topics anymore!". If we do that I guarantee he'd give up.

If he is banned, well, great. We can all get on with our lives now.
