"War has changed."

"War...War never changes."

Which idea do you subscribe to?

Personally, I can't decide. I'm too torn. I'm tempted to say the latter, what with human aggression being so common, but the themes presented in the former and the idea of PMC's controlling a world economy, well, that's a scary thought.

Ahem, anyway...you thoughts?

Ha, Voyager references.

Do quotes from myself count?

"Lincoln SMASH!"
-Birras, after (ironically) slaughtering the Temple of the Union with the Lincoln Repeater.

"Tunnel Snakes suck, *****."
-Birras, after killing Butch in the Trouble on the Homefront quest.

"Oh God,I need to get out of *screams* Where the hell am I? I just got an Email from my own brain? No, brain, I do not like it better here. I thought you were on my side! *begins sobbing*"
-Birras, raiding Vault 92 (I think it was 92. It was the one where you would occasionally be warped into a different location with a purple filter on your vision.)(By the way, that's all entirley true. I am easily scared when I am half-asleep, as I was when playing Fallout 3 at 2 A.M.)

"What? I can't murder children? What kind of a sandbox game is this!?!"
-Birras, after discovering he can't murder children and wear their undersized clothing like in Deadrising.

You can't murder children? I can be the scourge of humanity and shit down people's throats...but I can't kill children.

I don't remember the exact wording, but this is from Otacon in Metal Gear Solid 4:

"Snake, to continue, you have to find the disk labelled "Disk 2"... You can't find it? Oh wait, you are playing on a Blu-Ray disk on the PS3!"

That just tickled my Sony fanboy interior and that's the lines that pretty much say no to the game appearing on the Xbox 360.

I've thought about this topic. I have to say that Fallout gives a better argument then Metal Gear Solid. Fallout pretty much says that weapons, tactics, locations, and reasons might change but it doesn't change the fact that real men go out to stare death in the face; Metal Gear Solid says (I think! I haven't played it yet, just seen some cutscenes!) that war is everywhere and the tactics have changed.

Don't forget brutally murder and eat everyone they've ever known, leaving them to fend for themselves in the Wasteland, which actually won't be hard for them because they are immortal. And when they turn 18, they'll be outfitted with power armor and be top level, so being evil turns out to help the children!

I think I'll go with the second one. Ron Perlman makes a good argument about how war has ravaged since our ancestors first figured out how to hit each other with objects. And we're still doing it.

Also, I'm not gonna argue with Ron Perlman. Are you gonna argue with Ron Perlman?

Excellent point. And another reason why video game logic should never be applied to the real world.

Both Are right in some way, in the context of the games. War changed since we first began doing it ( in case you didn't notice we're no longer fighting with sticks and stones )but war never changes also because it's always about showing that you're better than any other.

So, yeah. That sums it nicely.

Not in the console version, but thanks to the efforts of some wonderful people, the PC has a mod that lets you do just that! It's quite satisfying, too...that little sherrif kid died soooo quickly.

They are both right. War never changes in that it is just people killing other people because they disagree. War has changed however in terms of the fact that we have super tech now.
