i know theres not much info here but if you closely at the badge its a dog and not a fox which represents the dog next to him, what makes me interested is that these dogs can be used to hunt foxes. this has led me to believe that another clone has been made to hunt down solid/old snake. would be cool to have snake as the hunted and not the hunter.

what are your thoughts on this theory, do you have another theory?

Only problem is this: who is hunting Snake and why? The Patriots have been shut down, Zero is gone, Big Boss and a majority of the antagonists are dead. However that dog might just be a Fox Hound, perhaps it's a bridge between Big Boss leaving FOXHOUND and his eventual return to the unit?

there were dogs in the original metal gear. sooo im going to use this extremely thin connection to hope for remake of that.

There's nothing strange about a foxhound in a Metal Gear Solid title. Foxhounds are generally used to hunt foxes. Name is more important than the emblem in this case.

It's probably going to be about whatever Big Boss did to get the US to send Snake to kill him in Metal Gear 2.

I was thinking on the same train of thought as you. What im thinking is that there was either a fourth clone of Big Boss (Ie; Liquid, Solid, Soilidus and Mr 4th guy) Or even a clone of Solid Himself, which was designed to act as a sort of failsafe in case of the destruction of the central AI (such as the one at the end of MGS4)

This clone might be trained to assassinate all living clones of Big Boss, Since the only real thing that could kill a Big Boss clone was a Big Boss clone (-Or raiden, now that i think about it-)

But that's just assumption.

for all i know, it could be another Big Boss story; Before MGS3. After all, there was a time when Big Boss was just Snake, Before he started the mission to kill The Boss. Perhaps this is one of these stories? I mean, there is a large amount of time before the time of MGS3 that could be used.

However, i just realized that the entirety of the MGS storyline is more of less closed and finished; MGS 3 being the first in the storyline (Where Big Boss found the Philosophers legacy), Followed by the Peace Walkers and Portable ops (After which Big Boss was successfully cloned to create the three clones, and the beginning of the "Patriots" AI scheme), Then followed by the Original Metal Gear And Metal Gear 2 (Where Big Boss was "Killed" by solid snake), Then MGS1 (Where Liquid snake is killed -Death of clone one-, and Ocelot is forced to attach Liquids hand to his arm - Or DID he?!?! -), MGS2 (Where raiden successfully destroys AI one of four - GW i think? And kills Solidus - Clone two - Leaving snake the last remaining clone) and MGS4 (Where "Liquids Insurrection" uses the Guns of the Patriots, only for Solid Snake to kill "Liquid Ocelot" and destroy the remaining AI systems, stopping SOP)

So, all the way from the start at MGS3, everything is more or less finished by MGS4. Ai are dead, Two of three clones are dead (and snake to soon follow), Big Boss finally dies, Zero dies, Otacon moves on in life, Naomi dies, Vamp dies, Basically, the only person left alive is Mei Ling.

So what else is there? Either MGS5 is the start of a entirely new storyline with entirely new characters, or is a stand-alone prequel to MGS3.

Or, of course, something i haven't though of yet.

TL;DR I have no friggin idea.

FakeEdit: I just thought, it could be more related to Jack's (Read: Raiden) Story. Afterall, the part where Jack rescued sunny from the Patriots is only mentioned in passing in the game. This is something they may expand upon.

That's kind of in Peace Walker.
There's still a 25 year gap between Peace Walker and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. I'm sure that in that time Big Boss did a whole lot more to piss off the United States government.

Anyway, I've been hoping for a Metal Gear remake ever since Peace Walker was released. I haven't played it or Metal Gear 2, but would love to do so in glorious 3D. It would also give Kojima the chance to straighten out a few continuity discrepancies that have popped up.

That is assuming he would want any part of it.

That's more likely to be in rising surely?

AFAIK Metal Gear Rising (Now called Revengance) Is a Spin off, set after the events of MGS4. But since its being made by a different team than the normal MGS crew, im not really counting it as Canon.

Yeah, you are right. I just watched some things on it, the gameplay looks.... bad. The setting looks.... painful. There is a cyborg ninja vamp.

Not Snake, this game is going to star Big Boss.

I bet that this game takes place a couple of years after Peace Walker, and with the early developments of Big Bosses Outer Heaven with the plot leading up to the first Metal Gear. The Diamond Dogs is just one of big bosses many rebel militia units after he defected from Fox Hound. It's likely that dogs in some way will be incorporated into the core gameplay of MGS, which seems interesting.

Also, it's coming to PC, which should keep everyone happy.

The series should have ended at 4, it was a perfect ending. :/
yes it was, there is nothing better than finishing a game being rewarded with an hour long cutscene( or was it longer?)

That wasn't trolling, that was sarcasm.

I still think that 2 was the best place to end the series. No, I'm not trolling; this is serious.
The complete mind-screw that was the ending of MGS2 was better unresolved. That was the entire point.
