I was never a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan, but I know that it was a treasured childhood icon to many. That it is why my jaw dropped when I saw this...

http://popwatch.ew.com/2012/03/19/michael-bay-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-aliens/?hpt=hp_t2

In short, Bay wants the Turtles to be aliens, not mutated from radiation. He lit the match, now let the rage explode.

Oh and I'm sorry for spelling Turtles wrong in the title. My bad. In a hurry. College paper needs done. Grasp on the English langauge fading....

I dont even know what to say in response to this.

I have never been a Micheal Bay fan, and now he wants to destroy another part of my childhood.

Who knows though, maybe it will be a good movie. But doesn't it go against the... title of the show?

"Teenage... Alien Ninja turtles?" Doesnt have the same ring

Ok, I was avoiding hopping on the Michael Bay hate bandwagon up to this point. But making the turtles aliens? Seriously? That's ridiculous.

And I just now realized how ridiculous "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" actually sounds. 0-o huh.

Speaking of retconning the turtles, I've always wondered what people thought about Splinter's origin being changed from the original cartoon to the first movie.

........Why?

Why the hell is Bay taking on movie licenses for source material he has absolutely no respect for?
Because its easy, simple as that. Look at all the movies hes done and most of them are already established series.

I did think exactly that at first. But then MovieBob directed me to a more-in-depth-than-I-had-any-idea-about explanation here :
http://badassdigest.com/2012/03/19/teenage-alien-ninja-turtles-why-what-michael-bay-said-is-canon/
Because if you were a real Turtles fan, you would know that TCRI, the place from whence the mutagenic ooze came, was actually a secret base for alien Utroms. And the Utroms were represented in the cartoon show by Krang, the little pink squishy guy in a big robot exoskeleton.
Don't get me wrong, I have no doubts he's going to screw up ALL the things, but the jump to [This is where I would post that "Aliens" guy image were I less lazy] isn't quite as stupid as you may believe.

Wait till the next thing you hear, then get angry.

It sounds ridiculous to say that Michael Bay lacks the understanding of subtlety and quality writing necessary to make a movie about teenage mutant ninja turtles, but Michael Bay lacks the understanding of subtlety and quality writing necessary to make a movie about teenage mutant ninja turtles.

It's not the change in backstory that offends me (though it is a bit silly), but rather that Michael fucking Bay is making a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film.

I don't really care, Michael Bay never ruined transformers because the series was just in place to sell toys to kids. The turtles I don't care about either because they were a product of the 90's mentality that skateboards and 'radical' were super cool.

Michael Bay is far from my favorite director (I never thought any of his stuff was any good) but he'll probably do a better job than the third ninja turtles movie.

Next year, Michael Bay will decide to make a live action Pokemon movie, where instead of any of the existing theories for Pokemon creation, Pokemon will all be born from plants, the main character will be a college kid who first thinks Pokemon are a side effect of drugs, and Pokemon will speak fluent English.

...then we just sit back and wait for the newspaper headline about Michael Bay being found murdered in his home.

I won't lie. I pretty much saw the name Michael Bay and got my flame on before I even knew what he was making.
