EDIT: BTW, did any of you like him in Arrested Development? That show was the greatest.
Myself and a small group of friends literally have annual Arrested Development marathons. It is beauty in it's purest state.

OT: Cera's other work, though entertaining, can get a little repetitive. However, I'm yet to see Scott Pilgrim (blasphemy, I know), so here's hoping he allows the role to be different, as he is probably one of the most prominent examples of typecasting.

Fucking loved him in Arrested Development, he was awesome.

But then they wanted to make an AD movie, and Cera didn't want to do it because he didn't want to be typecast as the awkward teenager role *looks at movie history* oh god forbid THAT should happen.

As long as the Arrested Development movie comes out I can tolerate him but he can only ride the awkward young person role for so long. Prove to me just one time that he can play something other than that and I will like him, until then meh.

He's not the greatest actor, but there are far, far worse people out there. Some roles he's really suited to (especially liked him in Juno), and though he plays the awkward teenager pretty much all the time, it's hard to argue that he hasn't got it down to a tee.

I'd watch him 20 times over before I'd watch Zac Efron or even someone like Tom Hanks (who I can't stand outside his animated roles (read Toy Story)). :)

I think most people here hate the roles that Michael Cera always gets cast in as opposed to the actor himself. What it reminds me of is Samuel L Jackson, whom a lot of people really like, myself included. How many time has he been typecast into the role of the badass black guy? And yet people still like him. My point is don't complain about Michael Cera playing the part of some whiny *****, complain about the person who decided to write a whiny ***** into the story.

Also on a side note I'm fairly indifferent towards him.

You sound so similar to one of my friends... we ask him why he doesn't want to see Scott Pilgrim and he comes out with arguments exactly like you.

OT: I quite like Michael Cera... he's been in some good films and some bad ones and while they always have the same premise Youth in Revolt was still damn funny and I'm seeing Scott Pilgrim in about 50 minutes...
