Situations like this remind me of an old joke, which has seen many iterations, but in one incarnation goes along the lines of Bush and Blair discussing Afghanistan, glossing over the last month's inflicted casualties. With Bush stating that '6548 muslim men, women, children and one dog had been killed. At which Blair asks: "Why the dog?" To which Bush replies:
"Yeah. No one cares about the men, women and children."

Which of course, is only relevant when anyone actually disregards human suffering in such a blatant manner. Are we saying it is "wrong" to get angry over the unneeded and agony-filled death's of those small puppies by this girl, simply because humans are dying everyday as well?

Heck, I get pissed off everytime I hear of a murder occurring. Locally or not. Still isn't going to stop me from getting the same over people killing animals like domesticated dogs for "entertainment", either.

I completely agree. I think people have become desensitized to human suffering. In my school, for example, most of the kids don't care about the horrific floods in Pakistan, but God forbid someone throws an animal in a wheelie bin. (This doesn't, however, make animal suffering somehow 'okay'. It just shows that people have really messed up priorities.)

Daily, thousands of puppies get either murdered, mutilated or completely abandoned, you don't see people paying attention to that because they can't see it happen. Instead of rewarding 50.000 to find one little fudgenut that throws puppies into a river, they should try spending that 50.000 on a funds for animal cops or something, to catch fudgenuts that mutilate, cut open or do other more horrid stuff to creatures. Seriously, throwing them in a river is milder than say, jamming a knife in them for 20 minutes straight.

Exactly. People ignore or are ignorant of thousands of atrocities happening every. single. day. But when one damn video is seen of some misguided teen somewhere in the media, folks watching get outraged and yell ''kill that *****'' 'n offer 50k rewards, without sparing a single thought for say, war, animal cruelty, violation of human rights happening elsewhere.
