And People say that digital distribution is the future...God help us if Microsoft decide to go all the way.

Anyone else notice all they did was change the symbol at the front of the price? I mean in America it costs the same as it would at retail but change the dollar sign for a pound sign and suddenly it's doubled in dollar value. To me it sounds more like they just plain and simple f'ed up by forgetting about currency conversion.

It was stated when GoD was introduced that they were not around to compete with the high street and would not be threatening the high street. It was always my understanding that the prices were high because of this, so that people would still go to retailers unless they were desperate/could not get to retailers.

I honestly don't see the problem with it, go to the shop if you don't like it? Who here doesn't have, and want, Halo Reach anyway?

What were they going to do, shrug and say "yeah, we're greedy"? Just like EA and it's loaded reviews on Meta-critic, MS (or nearly any company for that matter) will always attempt to rationalize their actions, however bad. I, for one, prefer a physical copy of the games I own (god forbid I say something a company doesn't like, they get wind of it, and lock me out of being able to play it or even removing paid for game from my account), if I save money while getting what I prefer, who am I to ***** about it?

More power to ya, Microsoft.

Well, here in the UK games do tend to be more expensive, Tax is higher and we import more (Very few games are made here) But still, £50 for a game that was £39 on Amazon PRE-ORDER?

And that was months ago!

*sigh* Microsoft really don't see the point of digital distribution yet it seems.

Man I was so happy when they started rolling out regular content for "Games on Demand", however, there seems to be no consistancy in the pricing. How and why are they priced? Is it from when they came out? (Red Dead Redemption is like a year old now, it's 40 quid on GoD, red faction:guerilla is 15. Go figure.)

There needs to be a clear pricing model that's actually competitive. Christ, know how much I got Reach for? (repurchased when Noble pack came out) £15.99. In what possible world is Microsoft going to compete with that? 34 quid for "convenience"? Get real.

On a side note. Anyone else have a windows phone? (I need one for business, but that's besides the point) Have you seen how seriously messed up the pricing model is on there aswel?

For example that Katamari game appeared on there two weeks back. On the iPhone it was something around £1.29, possibly even 59p, but on WP7 it was £5.49. It's insane.

I'd be happy to pay £10 more than the current going rate for Games on Demand, but £10 more than the day 1 retail price?

F*ck that.

Really? Steam gives me convenience and price.

I got the first AvP for £0.75. Seventy five pence! it costs more for a bottle of coke!

So fuck your "convenience", it's a bullshit excuse.

On that note, it will do stupidly well, since I hate it, and thus it will succeed.

Dear microsoft,
your next strategy with the xbawks should be stealing steam's thunder, not making Gabe Newell look like the second coming of jesus, now get your act together and stop fucking Brits over.

They couldn't have just said "We forgot to convert when switching currencies. Our bad," and just have been done with it?

you can shop in your underwear and get it rush delivered on amazon for half the price, so why buy it online? I hope noone buys it that way so Microsoft can see they can't do this sort of stuff and get away with it.
