I wonder if they've fixed the issue that people with high skin pigmentation can't be detected yet.

OK, you responded to the guys claiming that it was another eye-toy. Now will you please give a good argument against Yahtzee's claims that it will fail because it doesn't have any physical feedback? Because if you can't then there is no chance in hell I will accept the Natal as something good. Go through Yahtzee and you might get my support.
Remember the whole "PS3 won't have vibration" thing and the opposite defense from waaaaaaaay back?
No, I don't, but I take it that it didn't work out very good?

*points at vibrating controller that shipped with my PS3*
Yeah. But remember when it WASN'T going to have it?
*tries to remember*

I remember.. nothing. I think at that time period I shut myself out from the rest of the world and played on my PS2 all day.

Care to enlighten me?
*cough* I edited http://www.videogamer.com/news/playstation_3_controller_loses_vibration.html into my last post. *cough*
AND NOW I EDITED MY POST!

Because the edit-button is so pretty that I'd rather push it than write another comment.

Which means that this comment is rather worthless...

..

Six-axis sucks!
Yeah. And some people DEFENDED that lack of force feedback. Anyway, those defense apply here too.

PS3 AND 360 owners are both hypocrites. With the 360 having an advantage in RPGs, and the PS3 having the market cornered on Third Person Shooters (Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted) and graphix. Oh, and that Home thingy that everyone admits sucks.
The 360 has an advantage in RPG's?

Western RPG's then. Because I'm pretty sure most people consider the PS3 to have the best JRPG's
Let's see!

Exclusives

PS3

Demon's Souls. OHH. That's nice.

Disgaea 3. Lookin' good. *Looks at screenshots* Why couldn't this be on the PS2 again?

Anywho...

360

Lost Odyssey

Infinite Undiscovery

Star Ocean (okay, not really an exclusive, but we got it waaaaaaaaaay before the PS3)

Blue Dragon

Wow...The PS2 had more JRPGs in a year than both these consoles in their lifespan...

TO THE PS2 SECTION GAMESTOP!
You forgot Tales of Vesperia for the 360

But yeah, this generation is not the generation for JRPG's...
R.I.P. JRPGs on consoles

Well, they are THRIVING on the DS. Seriously, the DS is the new PS2.
*slap*

Don't ever say that!

It's more of the new gameboy anyway. The new PS2 is still the PS2!
Okay. It's not the new PS2. But it is the new home for JRPGs.

I don't want motion controls to retire the controller in any way. When i play a game i don't want to have to flex my arms or any thing like that. And if i want to, lets say go bowling. I don't want to pretend that i bowl in my living room, i go to the bowling hall...

It's out for the PS3 in Japan, but I would consider it excluded from the PS3 list since it's doubtful it will be localized.

I watched Smallville on Friday, and there was a scene where they were using Natale, and it looked so stupid, motion control is for kids in my opinion. I'll probably try this at my friends house, I am not expecting anything good but you never know. I don't understand how its going to work entirely.

Shit...Tales of Vesperia is BY FAR the best all around JRPG of this console generation, imo. Lost Odyssey beats it out in story, but that's about it.

And they're missing out...Oh well. The PS2 could play EVERY OTHER TALES GAME. Well, except Phantasia.

I think the market for such an item is definately with the younger crowd to start out with. It'll be years before someone like me or most people on the Escapist see Natal as something we'd want or need. I just don't think it is a peripheral that will provide me with the experience I want for the games I play.

Just watch this video, its very much a fanboy orientated vid but what this guy says is true as to why the Natal really isn't that great. He also Mentions the ps3 wand and how its better but i won't be buying that either.

I can almost see Natal being a good if the facial recognition actually works.

Controllers or keyboard+mouse is good because you get speed and precision with fairly minimal body movement.
Now if I could actaully play games while lying on the couch, just blinking my eyes and moving my pinky finger.

this whole idea is as misconceived as having hoover boots. No matter how much you love the idea. it just isn't going to work. It's just a bad idea if your the controler. When I'm playing a game I can put the controler down and pick my ear. Now if I did that with this thing, I would have just killed my character by getting it to jump off a cliff or choice "You mother sucks willies!" option in mass effect 3 while trying to chat up a Turian. I wont to be playing a game not being in it. I want to have that border so that not every blooming move I do has the game jumping up like some clinging ex at the window thinking everytime I get up I'm about to call her. And how does this thing work in poor lighting? What will happen when I play a game at night? Huh? Have you really thought this out?... Have you?

Microsoft executive, Aaron Greenberg, dismissed claims that Project Natal was like Sony's Eye Toy and stated that its development will continue five years after its release.
So we shouldn't touch it with the proverbial bargepole until at least 2015/6. Right, got it.

PS: No, it's not a toy, it's a bloody gimmick.

Natal is a gimmick that will ruin any game it's included in (Fable 3 for instance)

I still say it'll be right up there with the purchase of RARE in terms of wasting money

We can see when you move your hand, when you move your feet, we can track your body. I can stand in front of this sensor and it can recognize my face and know if it's me, or my brother or my sister.SO THAT IT KNOWS WHO IT WILL MURDER NEXT.
Anyone else think that sounds more than a little, you know...creepy?
Until someone comes in with the penis jokes, yes actually.

"What if I have to reposition myself in my chair and I accidentally flick the analog stick and my character falls off a cliff?! NO ANALOG STICKS! RAR! They ruin my passive gameplay experience!"

Why does everyone assume every game will just be that damned dodgeball minigame? I mean, honestly. I think game developers will find awesome uses for Natal outside of just full-body controllers.

How about making your character lean in an FPS based on your leaning? There are plenty of realistic ways to use Natal in conjunction with the regular controller.

And then suddenly you go to scratch an itch and accidentally get ventilated by the enemy cause it caused you to lean out of cover. No thanks.

Let me put some perspective on this aside from that joke scenario. For almost 2 decades now, as far as I can tell anyway, the Museum of Science in Boston had this thing called "Virtual Volleyball" which essentially used some level of projection trickery to project people's bodies onto a screen and be able to interact with a ball moving across said screen and play volleyball against one another. As cool as the idea seems it still boils down to the exact same issues with the eyetoy and Natal. You are still nothing more than a doofus in front of a camera in an electronics store, i.e. you look silly. There is no tactile feedback and as such there is no real immersion. It's not "virtual reality". At least not from my POV. Something that could be done 20 years ago is still being done today with no real progress. I want to believe Natal could be an awesome idea but so far I haven't really seen anything as of yet that has been able to convince me. I'm sure that sounds ridiculous coming from someone who owns and plays a Nintendo Wii but then again the Wii still has a controller, plus Motion Control isn't mandatory.

After the 360 fiasco I'm personally gonna wait at least a year before purchasing any kind of hardware made by Microsoft, until all its tragic failures have been revealed and I can make an informed decision on whether it's worth my money or not.
