I don't agree with their statement.

http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/45608/kinect-adventures/

They've sold 1.5 mil Kinect Adventures. Since Kinect Adventures comes in a bundle with Kinect, they've sold <= 1.5 mil Kinect through those bundles. During this time, they've also sold ~1.2 mil 360's in total, although they don't specify which bundles were sold during this time. Unless nearly all 360's sold in the last month were Kinect bundles, I can't really see them hitting 2.5 mil.
I know i t is Microsoft, but I'm still inclined to believe their sales numbers as opposed to a sales chart showing only the game from some gamrreview site.
"I believe the company's sale numbers as opposed to an independent market research group's sales numbers."

Mmmk.
Where do you think they get their figures?
I remember another Independent market reseach gourp in UK said most of the time they don't have enough data so they have to "fill in the rest", and so they close down the weekly chart.
First Party on the other hand, have most of the data in thier hands.
True first party might be lying but not way to find out.

So it comes down to you beleive people that actually does have the data or not. Of course the people that have the data have a conflict in interest.

Nice of you to call people derogatory names.

Any thought behind your post, or is it just the anti Microsoft mindset that people pick up on from the internet?
Maybe you should read my later response to a quote like this instead of making me go through this again. Read posts 21 for my elaboration and 22 for someone who supports my position.
Okay, I read those posts, I still don't see why you feel the need to call people names just because they find worth out of something you don't.

It's nice that you eventually gave some reasoning behind why you haven't bought the Kinect yet, but the name calling is just plain uncalled for.

Be proud of your reasoning for not buying a new tech add-on, demand better games before you spend your hard earned money. But to call people who want what is out there suckers is just fucking lame dude.

Not that you are fucking lame, the idea of calling people suckers because they buy what they want is fucking lame.
Buying something which costs $200 which has yet to prove itself is dumb. I'm sorry, but that's just how it is. These people have fallen for all the marketing and so forth and have invested their hard earned money into something which they don't even know they'll enjoy. People can buy what they like, but they should at least be smart about it.

If in the next few months there is a giant outcry of people who feel ripped off from buying the Kinect, I will eat my shoes.

I will of course boil them for a long time first, so they get soft first.
I'll hold you to that.
Since when is it $200? I thought it was $150.
Australia.

After seeing it work at E3 way back when, I know I want it. I just have low ceilings, so I'm waiting till I have a better living space.

I'm 6 foot 3 inches, and can touch my ceiling without jumping.... I am afraid of making holes!!!
That's just the sort of thing, that I'm guessing the day one buyers didn't think about, but only time will tell.

I'm glad you had thought behind your initial flame bait post. You have conveyed your opinion in a good way, and I hope I have as well.

Bottom line is, only the future will tell if Kinect is good or not, so far it's looking good based on the numbers.

But hell, numbers can easily hide short comings.

Thanks for being civil with me.

Good day Sir.
No problem, I had fun.

Microsoft: "Hmm, let's see. Cater to millions of people who want a casual experience, or cater to people who think everything they don't like is stupid and who insult us at every turn."

No wonder these are selling like crazy.

Guess what everyone: YOU are the idiots. Gaming isn't catered solely to you anymore. So far I haven't actually seen a single legitimate argument against the Kinect aside from "BOO NO WANT!"

Welcome to the new world. Adapt to it, or shut up and go away, because all you're doing is being that vocal minority everyone hates. Including you. If you're going to argue without reason, at least do it right for Christ sake.

I'm looking at getting one. I'm as hardcore as they come. You know why I want one?

Because I played it, and it was fun.

OH MY GOD I MUST BE A CASUAL GAMER!
I've heard a few

not enough space
no decent game
gimmicky

None of the reasons are that bad though so I think it's just the fact that it's catering to a different market to what most 360 gamers are used to. Which is probably a good thing because most of the people on xbox live are massive idiots who only buy COD and Madden

Before people start patting themselves on the ass for a job well done, there was a praise used to describe people that bought a Wii and 1 or 2 games, and then never returned for more. It was the result of largely shovelware base products flooding the market. Who's to say an overpriced controller will not share a similar fate? Not to mention that this things was supposed to move consoles to a different demographic, so if console sales are weaker this season, then they haven't exactly achieved what they'd set out to do.

Well, I hope these 2.5 million have fun playing games like they are being blown away by a giant fan. Controllers all the way.

Just a lazy hundred thousand a day eh? I'm not surprised though, every time I'm down the shops I see people walking around with the Xbox Slim / Kinect bundle. In the area I live though I wouldn't be shocked if they'd stolen them.
fixed that math for you... because a million a day would equal five million in five days... yea, not quite.

You really think so?

I was just about to invest in some 'ceiling hand made holes from jumping while flailing your arms about' insurance.

Should I wait then? Thanks for the heads up!

:p
no problem, just be careful and don't hurt yourself,

I'd really like to have a go on Kinect. I've had a go on Move, but I didn't really enjoy it (Although it was The Fight so that's probably not the controller's fault)but I've yet to have a go on Kinect. It is interesting that it has sold so well though, I was really expecting the non-gaming public to think of it as a Eye Toy knock off but perhaps the gaming public are more aware than I give them credit for =)

I would like a Kinect, but I really can't afford one right now. I am interested to see how it plays out though.

Yay for Kinect. I queued up at launch, bought one and haven't looked back since. It's been great amounts of fun, not to mention I actually get a work out now rather than sitting on my arse on the sofa.

I also took it over to my parents' house to show them, and you know what? They immediately got one too.

What you guys seem to be pissed off about is that it's doing exactly what it's meant to do: appealing to the mainstream who are, more often than not, buying it. If this isn't a case of marketing doing as it's meant to do, then I don't know what is.

Whether or not you like the tech, the company, or the idea of motion control, you have to admit that MS really seems to know what it's doing with Kinect and has marketed it brilliantly.
This is part of the problem I believe. Their marketing has been close to outright lies at the best of times - and now you honestly can't believe anything they say.

It's a case of the Boy that sold Wolfburgers.

What is it with this constant, repeated theme.

Someone spells the abbreviation of MicroSoft as M$, for obvious reasons, if you know anything about the company's history, and someone else feels obliged to 'fix' it.
Because people with a reasonable amount of sense know that you can't call MS 'Micro$oft' without calling Sony '$ony' and Nintendo 'Nint£ndo'. They're all businesses, they all want money.
