Heh, I must admit I like the idea of a "Ban everybody again" button. I imagine it would be big and red. It would require people turning keys at the same time, eye-scans etc. to activate of course!

I think the opposite is more likely:

"Sir, we need to unban an Xbox account..." *Removes key from around neck*
"God help us all, son" The admin says, inserting his key into the MS-Unbanner, which requires a DNA, blood, Iris, finger, semen and stool sample.

The admin presses the big red button 'Master unban', an alarm sounds deep in the facility:

"And so, it begins again...." He says, zipping up his flies.

Then some git in security falls on the wireless 'BAN ALL' button while drunk and that's the end of it.

Maybe it's a delayed April Fool's joke from Microsoft.

"You're not banned anymore"
"Really?"
"Of course you are fool... gotcha"
Trollolol.

I'm still confused how they knew their consoles were unbanned though. It takes a special kind of stubborn to try logging into XBLA every day after being banned.

The hell is going on with these consoles?

And more importantly, where can I get a "ban everyone again" button? Do want.

My advice, as always is this: Pre-Paid Cards. Do not use your credit card online unless you want to run the risk of having your infoz jacked at some point. No system is totally secure unless its not plugged into the internet.
Also, modding, playing in modded lobbies, etc. is just asking for someone to hack your account at some point.
I'm not usually one to hate on things, but I find console modders to be bottom feeders. The ones who do it so they don't have to pay for games. Sorry that the market isn't cheap, sorry you don't have a good job to support your gaming habit. L2Budget, L2Save money.
Its the greedy assjacks who ruin it for everyone, so don't be "that guy" or "...girl".
End of Line.

Edit: Also, don't give me the crap about "if the industry wouldn't charge x for games I wouldn't pirate them". Circular logic doesn't make it right. Just because a bank has more money than you do doesn't give you the right to rip them off.

With Microsoft's rival PSN having more than its fair share of difficulties right now [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/109568-Sony-Admits-Private-PSN-Info-Has-Been-Stolen-All-Of-It], it's not out of the question to wonder if this blip in the system is the result of someone trying to work their way into Xbox Live and screwing up along the line.

Of course, it's also possible that this was Microsoft messing around with its hardware to ensure that a disaster like the PSN debacle doesn't happen to Xbox Live, and forgetting to push the "ban everybody again" button when all was said and done.
Stop right there. This is not speculation. There's absolutely no evidence of that aside from some people somehow being allowed to log in after being banned, that is all. I am getting annoyed with these leaps in conclusions recently from these articles, it's got nothing to do with Sony, hackers breaking into a system, or even credit cards, yet there's already a few posts about that. Far as we know, it's a blip in a system, but that doesn't warrant a huge speculation of hackers coming into more services. No need to make any more panic than there already is.

Just.....calm down, okay? Can everybody do that? Unless LIVE is completely shut down akin to PSN, and Microsoft takes a week to find out what happened and takes another day to tell us what happened, then you can start making connections.

Actually? When something of the magnitude of the PSN outage happens, and then Xbox Live happens to have something wonky (no matter how small) occur to, I think random speculation is hardly out of line.

I'm not attacking anyone here personally, but I am really getting sick of this speculation and blowing things to where they are not true. This [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.280129-Latest-XBL-Exploit-Takes-Aim-at-Users-Credit-Cards] didn't really help. While a slight connection could be made, there's not enough evidence to even suggest that hackers have gotten in. It's a different issue altogether, all these people have been allowed to do is log in after being banned, that isn't even remotely related to what is going on with PSN.

I just don't think we need more speculation flying around everywhere when the shit is flying so fast across the room that it's all one big brown blur. We don't need any more confusion or worry over something that isn't even related.

(I just had an entertaining image of a large room with a few thousand people screaming in business suits and flinging whatever they can find in their office desks across the room.)

Mixed together or one at a time?

OT: Without jumping on the zOMG! haxxorz!!!eleven!! pre-panic bandwagon, I'd be inclined to agree this was the result of internal upgrades and re-structures to prevent a similar intrusion. Just like any prudent company would do to protect its golden geese userbase.

One of these days, these companies are gonna realize they are doing all of this the wrong way and cut the crap.

It'll be in the year 2046 when the zombies come, spewing grapity jelly everywhere.

Wait how is banning people with modded xboxes bad/wrong?

OT: Yeah I would say that either they are working on beefing up their security or they are getting ready for another software push to add some more features. I agree with others who say speculation is not what a news system should be doing. Report on the facts as they become available speculation only causes panic which is no good for anyone. Leave the speculation to the comments :)
