What absolute bollocks!

Unless M$ incorporate Blu-Ray at some point its the gamers that are gonna suffer
Look what happened to Lost Planet 2 ffs! something like 2/3 of the game cut out to make it fit onto a DVD

Also I and many other people prefer having physical copies of things we've put our hard earned money into buying
Digital Distribution is a slap in the face
Microsoft...You are all cunts (apologies for the bad profanity but I despise M$)
I really hope they release that content as dlc... I was sooo pissed when I heard that. I love the game and would pay for that content if needed so.

News just in, Microsoft guy not only conveniently forgets that almost every accessory for the 360 is overpriced, he also conveniently fails to mention they supported the failed HD-DVD format.

Also forgets to mention the 360 came out long before the BluRay was as common as it is now.
They supported the HD DVD format primarily because it meant that they could push their video marketplace more successfully while the two physical formats competed. I should say three, because DVD whooped their tails.

Otherwise, I agree. Just clarifying that backing HD DVD was not a dumb move.

not to start flame war or something, but it seems xbox has pulled another butthurt to talk wonders about the 360, when it's only just a console

see, the ps3 plays blu ray games, blu ray movies, free online, has true HD, is more technically powerful, makes your breakfast, walks your dog, slices and dices and mows your lawn

douche mode off

FLash Drives/Cards?? BluRays can hold upwards of 25gigs of HD content per side!

20-25 gig flash drives still arent cheap!! and BluRays are only a buck or two at most to make.

And yet magically, they're the same cost now. Amazing, since DVD tech has stayed the same for years and years. I wonder where that extra money goes now, hmmm?

Xbox 360 S Console with 250GB HDD
£199.99

Sony PlayStation 3 PS3 Slim Console with 120GB HDD
£249.99

Play.com

Probably into making up the numbers for still being the more expensive console even Vs the new 360 slim.

Well, they really can't go full DD anytime soon. Think of people with bandwidth caps, slow internet or no internet at all. They still want those people to be customers. It would be foolish to go full DD anytime soon.

However, going Blu-Ray just means more loading times and I don't want that either. Flash drives or SD cards seem the smart way to go.
Actually, flash drives do seem practical. If you could get around using USB, there would be very few drawbacks.

I'm pretty sure that the computer industry is trying to get a new version of USB circulating, so imagine how much the technology would grow if the video games industry was in on it, too.

Most PS3 games don't use 25 GB so you wouldn't really need flash drives/cards that big. When something is put into mass production, costs go down. A 25 GB flash drive is expensive now but would drop in price if it went into mass production.
If you used a larger flash drive(I'm thinking the dimensions of cell phone) you could put more storage on there.

And they could also use two sides, with the possibility of both being read at the same time. I'm not entirely sure how this would work, so I'm speculating.

Ok, that's granted that the PS3 costs more, it has more new technology in it. By far. RAM, CPU and Optical Drive, what do you expect? Still, it doesn't explain why new games for the 360 cost the same as new games for the PS3, when the cost for PS3 games is a direct result of the Blu Ray format.
The PS3 and 360 in terms of technical power and capabilities are nearly identical.
Now that's out of the way.

Sony had to lower the price of their PS3 games because they were making a loss as people wouldn't buy them.

Microsoft doesn't want to lose money just to undercut PS3 games slightly.

And anyway the publisher makes a lot of decisions on pricing.

Lost Planet 2 came out at £30 on each console. That was up to Capcom.

I totally agree with him that digital downloads n streaming is the future. The problem is, the 360 has Xbox live, where one has to pay for the internet (On top of paying for the products available there). The PS3 has PSN where you only pay for the products u buy on the internet. In the long run, PS3 seems much more inviting for the shift towards more digitalized formats. Plus, 1/3 PS3's don't permanently break down after purchase (and personally i find the controller uncomfortable, but that's MY opinion).

Just realized I got ninja'd

Blu-Ray discs and extremely compact and duel layered, hence why you're able to get a slightly better quality image out of the PS3, the files arn't as compressed.

Also, you can fit a much larger game onto a Blu-Ray.

Yawn, their abilities are irrelevant, the cost of 'new technology' is what I was talking about. And what is the major contributor to cost of the PS3. As I said, XDR Ram, used only in PS3's and a few TV's, Cell Broadband Engines, used only in PS3's and a more cut down version in some TV's, and the Blu Ray Optical Drive, which is actually probably the cheapest of all the PS3's newer parts these days. Considering a BR reader can cost as low as $50 these days.
Well I'm sure they feel special putting in all this extra expensive technology that don't actually make it any more powerful than the Xbox...

Blu-ray essentially stops disc changing by holding more content.

Meh, I'll buy a cheaper console and change some discs every now and again thanks.

Physical copies will never be replaced. There's so many gaming regions that lack the broadband speeds necessary to provide game downloads, not to mention, if they did take this approach, they would end up charging us, the consumer for the server costs, but as usual, pull a dick move, by charging more for LIVE Gold to pay the server costs, of which Silver users have access to.

If a download monopoly is what they have in mind, I won't be buying another Microsoft console.

Not to mention we're already at the point of multiple DVD games, imagine having to download Lost Odyssey. 4 dual layer DVDs. Over 30GB. Good luck downloading that.

Oh and let's not forget the price of Microsoft's proprietary overpriced hard drives. If they took the PS3 approach of enabling any generic 2.5" Sata HDD, then it wouldn't be an issue, instead of charging stupid amounts for small storage capacities.
