I really hope they release that content as dlc...CTU_Loscombe said:What absolute bollocks!
Unless M$ incorporate Blu-Ray at some point its the gamers that are gonna suffer
Look what happened to Lost Planet 2 ffs! something like 2/3 of the game cut out to make it fit onto a DVD
Also I and many other people prefer having physical copies of things we've put our hard earned money into buying
Digital Distribution is a slap in the face
Microsoft...You are all cunts (apologies for the bad profanity but I despise M$)
They supported the HD DVD format primarily because it meant that they could push their video marketplace more successfully while the two physical formats competed. I should say three, because DVD whooped their tails.Theo Samaritan said:News just in, Microsoft guy not only conveniently forgets that almost every accessory for the 360 is overpriced, he also conveniently fails to mention they supported the failed HD-DVD format.
Also forgets to mention the 360 came out long before the BluRay was as common as it is now.
Mornelithe said:And yet magically, they're the same cost now. Amazing, since DVD tech has stayed the same for years and years. I wonder where that extra money goes now, hmmm?
Actually, flash drives do seem practical. If you could get around using USB, there would be very few drawbacks.Garak73 said:Well, they really can't go full DD anytime soon. Think of people with bandwidth caps, slow internet or no internet at all. They still want those people to be customers. It would be foolish to go full DD anytime soon.
However, going Blu-Ray just means more loading times and I don't want that either. Flash drives or SD cards seem the smart way to go.
If you used a larger flash drive(I'm thinking the dimensions of cell phone) you could put more storage on there.Garak73 said:Most PS3 games don't use 25 GB so you wouldn't really need flash drives/cards that big. When something is put into mass production, costs go down. A 25 GB flash drive is expensive now but would drop in price if it went into mass production.
The PS3 and 360 in terms of technical power and capabilities are nearly identical.Mornelithe said:Ok, that's granted that the PS3 costs more, it has more new technology in it. By far. RAM, CPU and Optical Drive, what do you expect? Still, it doesn't explain why new games for the 360 cost the same as new games for the PS3, when the cost for PS3 games is a direct result of the Blu Ray format.
Well I'm sure they feel special putting in all this extra expensive technology that don't actually make it any more powerful than the Xbox...Mornelithe said:Yawn, their abilities are irrelevant, the cost of 'new technology' is what I was talking about. And what is the major contributor to cost of the PS3. As I said, XDR Ram, used only in PS3's and a few TV's, Cell Broadband Engines, used only in PS3's and a more cut down version in some TV's, and the Blu Ray Optical Drive, which is actually probably the cheapest of all the PS3's newer parts these days. Considering a BR reader can cost as low as $50 these days.
