So during an interval at E3 there was a clip of an employee at Microsoft stating why gamers should think twice before turning to Nintendo. This did nothing to help Microsoft's conference in my opinion, infact it cheapened it if anything. His critical approach was unstructured and too colloquial, it almost seemed as if Microsoft were papping themselves a little bit about the quality of their show. So baring in mind Microsoft's core audience probably will not be transferring to Ninty anytime soon, what did you think of Microsofts' criticisms, was it necessary and did it achieve anything in your opinions?

Think twice about turning to Nintendo? Haven't one of their core target markets already turned to Nintendo? They do realise that almost everyone who would consider buying Kinect is already going to have a Wii, right?

My words exactly. They take an idea from Nintendo, make it their own, and tell them not to turn to Nintendo, when they themselves essentially did? Hypocritical.

If you listened to it you'd recognise the audience it was targeting, which I imagine is the Wii-less rather than gamers with various consoles.

Blatantly bashing your competition is always a stupid thing to do.
For some reason, they're all having a pop at Nintendo, the company that's outlasted them all and is beloved by many.

Did they say that Microsoft do what Nintendon't though?
Because if they did, all is forgiven.

Nintendo have success with motion controls. Sony and MS try to copy that success with Move and Kinect.

I love the hypocrisy.

It's just business. No different than those Brawny paper towel commercials that boast more durability than the "leading competitive brand."

That said, I think it's pretty funny to hear that from them, given that Kinect is a pretty transparent attempt at aping Nintendo's successful strategy.

I have no comment because I don't know what you're talking about. Give us some actual info, a video maybe?

I agree with what a lot of people have been saying. They tried to make the Nintendo lightning strike twice with the whole Kinect thing so it does smack of hypocrisy a little bit. I also think that trash talking a company that a lot of it's target audience grew up with is in very poor taste, but I think that trash talking in general is in bad taste anyway.

Who gives a shit? Everyone knows that the Wii is more geared to kids and casual gamers and that they're literally rolling in money because of that choice. I could call nintendo the worst thing since Hitler and they wouldn't care all that much because they have more money than god.

Is this somehow any different from anyone else's bashing of Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Microsoft, Steam, Bioware, PCs, Macs, etc., etc., etc.? It doesn't MEAN anything. You can't go "Well, we've got money, so our opinion of our business rivals is WAY better.". Doesn't actually work that way.

You have a link to the clip, I can't find any evidence of this.

*Sits back, opens a beer, and waits for Nintendo's conference*

Who knows. Someone might be eating their words by the time this thing is over.

Halo, anyone?

Don't bash a company for doing something the company you prefer does exactly the same.

I think that without a source to hear what he actually said and in what context, you're merely trying to spark controversy.

And whatever it was, if it even exists, I doubt it can be worse than Jack Tretton's bashing of his own company's fans by saying anyone who has a DS is not a self respecting adult. Jack Tretton is the sole reason why I'm not watching Sony's E3 conference live this year. I can't take any more of his constant condescending tone and insults to anyone who likes his competitors products. And like I need to hear him go down the list of statistics for Playstation Network and the Playstation Store again like he does every year. It's not an investor meeting, nobody wants to hear that stuff. We want games and new hardware news.

go ahead and bash my opinion here,as it will only prove that nintendo fans are in fact to dumb to have noticed the facts stated here.
I refute you thus: Metroid Prime. Oh, Nentendo, I am to dumb to have noticed that you have don't anything all that great in the past 10 years...

Nintendo deserves all of the bashing they've received from the hardcore crowd, but Microsoft doing it just seems hypocritical. They just wasted 2 hours of my life with a stream of cheap useless Kinect crap in their press conference.

Going to go something like

based on Ninty's track record for E3 conferences, I'm guessing.

(note the only opinion in this post I claim as my own is that Nintendo always surprises us at E3)
