Wait, what are going on about OP? As a huge fan of Mega Man, the game itself looks fine even if the trailer is cheesy as hell.

And this is why I don't follow internet politics. Objectivity gets tossed in the can in the face of the oversensitive culture of internet negativity.

I read your post several times over looking for what actually ails you OP, yet all I saw was you regurgitating the detritus of some soap opera surrounding the politics of this games kickstarter.

for fraks sake *slaps forehead*
You pretty much said everything that I wanted to say.

From what I have seen and played of the game itself, it comes pretty close to the original Mega Man games and I feel that it lives up to the moniker of a spiritual successor. However, a lot of people don't even look at the game in an objective manner anymore, they are too caught up in the drama that happened around the game.

Seeing even Sega join in on it with their @sonic_hedgehog twitter account is rather disheartening.

Wait, I had to watch it again to see what everyone was talking about in terms of "insulting the fanbase" cuz that totally went over my head.

Stop it. Everyone just stop it. No one of sound mental health could take offense to so trifling a comment.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out where they supposedly insulted the fanbase in the trailer. Was it the whole "cry like an anime fan on prom night" bit? Yeah it was cringe-y, but I'm not seeing how it's some kind of personal attack.
Have you two seen how hilariously easy it is to offend people these days? I probably offended someone with that opening question.

The sad truth is that there's a growing number of people who seem to be actively searching for ways to be offended. [http://www.nationalreview.com/article/435044/campus-sexual-assault-fraternity-in-trouble-for-being-anti-assault]

That sensation when attempted humor falls so utterly flat... It's almost beautiful. :')

I really can't not laugh at fan art of this game that was made three years ago. I'm going by how much people aren't liking what they're seeing of course, no idea if the game is actually good.

Pretty much that.

Wait, its not out yet? I thought it came out and was bad and that that's why everyone has been hating on it.

Though everyone hated on Star Fox Zero and I liked that, so I guess I shouldn't listen to people.
It hadn't been released because it was delayed three times, the 'game' many claim to have played was the demo received by the backers, after that had suffered delays too, audiences were less than thrilled with the results, the graphics were generic, it suffered nowadays' case of 'I need to stop your action to tell you how to jump' and the bosses suffered from really bad design (they talk when they're about to launch one of their attacks to tell you which one and how to evade, but then an NPC talks over and during the battle, making extremely difficult to avoid the one-hit kill that happens in-between.

Dunno about getting all worked up about it, but the trailer(and general gameplay) just struck me as kinda...meh.

Had to do a bit of an eyeroll at the bog standard BWAAAAAA *screen fade transition* effect and ultra-cheese narration though.

Also thought of an awesome snarky title for the game, like how we had "Duke Nukem ForNever": Might No 9-Delays!

I still say Might No.9 should have been made using sprites. This kind of 2.5D art-style never worked for Megaman and I don't really see it working here. The characters really don't seem to mesh very well with the world they're moving through, and the whole thing winds up looking like a mish-mash. I would have much rather this been done with some high-quality sprites to create something more aesthetically unified.

The concept art looked great, and there's nothing inherently wrong with the overall art direction. I just don't think it's very well suited to 3D. It's like trying to do Sonic or Astroboy in 3D. The characters are just so stylized that when you can see them from all directions, they don't look quite right.

This still in development? Have they been spending the kickstarter money on parties and hookers? Oh well, never played megaman. Looks a little fun i guess. Are all the kickstarter backers now anime fans who cried on prom night then? Or is that a big old fashioned projection we're seeing here? Because that's barely even an insult, at worst it appears as self deprecating humour which, even if it fell flat, people should be quite aware of by now with the internet and all that. Isn't kickstarting just a worse form of pre-ordering? Even avoided kickstarting/backing games i'd consider as exciting. It feels quite, i don't know, like gambling on talk. And talk is incredibly cheap.

And here we have a golden example of the sensitive feelings of people on the internet. It wasn't even a particularly offensive joke.
Here we have an example of someone who thinks that pointing out counterproductive marketing ploys equals "being offended".

Just so this game knows, I was an anime fan in High School. And guess what? I skipped my prom to go to Chicago for a Van Halen concert with backstage passes.

And my school had a hysterical tradition of calling all the Seniors who didn't attend Prom on speaker-phone to basically make fun of them. And I got David Lee Roth to answer the phone for me, and suddenly prom didn't seem so cool for everyone who wasn't shaking hands with Roth and Halen.

So Mighty No 9, eat it!

So essentially you're insulted on proxy
What did I just say, Kisbeth?

without anyone actually being offended?

Someone at marketing probably got fired for that. >_> Insulting your audience with a really lame joke is a very dumb idea.

Then again, they're running out of material. Apparently the game's been pretty much done for a while now with just the multiplayer having issues, and they have to keep cranking out the trailers to remind people "yes, we exist".

And it's a shame too. As far as I'm aware, the game itself is pretty decent. :s It's a shame it ran into so much trouble. If it had come out on time, before all these stupid problems, it probably would have been very well received.

Goes to show that the industry and its consumers still have a long way to go in maturing.

Shots fired! I am with you all the way, Johnny. While I didn't find the joke offensive, it still a horrible, crappy, and dated joke. It's the the type of joke that some stereotypical jock/dude bro would make back in the 90s who never understood anime.

I'm more interested in the time-attack / speed-run that will be uploaded to youtube than to actually buy or play this game myself. I'm not against a new Megaman (clone or otherwise) or the 'terrible' trailer. It seems fine, at least the game play. It doesn't showcase the boss fights or anything like that which will be one of the real review score boosters.
Words, words, I'm tired. Might #9 is fine.

Man, it's like a shitty 90s mascot was cryogenically frozen and hasn't realized the world has left that attitude behind (seriously, when the Sonic Twitter is able to call you out, you know you have problems). The trailer is just cringe-worthy and annoying. Even the CEO of Inti Creates hated it. But then again this is just the latest in a long line of embarrassing fiascoes for Inafune's post-CAPCOM projects.
