And here we have a golden example of the sensitive feelings of people on the internet. It wasn't even a particularly offensive joke.
Here we have an example of someone who thinks that pointing out counterproductive marketing ploys equals "being offended".
Shots fired! I am with you all the way, Johnny. While I didn't find the joke offensive, it still a horrible, crappy, and dated joke. It's the the type of joke that some stereotypical jock/dude bro would make back in the 90s who never understood anime.
Nah, it's honestly a pretty decent joke, just imagine it being delivered by Bruce Campbell or any comedy deadpan trailer voice(or hell, even if the game didn't take itself so damn seriously). But when you take into context the artstyle, company wanting people to pay them to make an anime about this universe(and failing if I remember), and Comcept being a Japanese company who is very much known in videogame circles as anime exporters, it falls hard enough on its face it makes Balboa look like a damn Calvin Model in comparison.

Can we return to the topic at hand, please? The anime fan joke is the least of this trailer's problems and considering Sonic The Hedgehog's Twitter account is making fun of it, it's just asking for more trouble.

Yeah, the joke may be a little head-scrathing, but considering how cringe worthy the whole trailer is, that specific part does indeed come off as mean-spirited with little provocation.

Man, it's like a shitty 90s mascot was cryogenically frozen and hasn't realized the world has left that attitude behind (seriously, when the Sonic Twitter is able to call you out, you know you have problems). The trailer is just cringe-worthy and annoying. Even the CEO of Inti Creates hated it. But then again this is just the latest in a long line of embarrassing fiascoes for Inafune's post-CAPCOM projects.
That's exactly what crossed my mind, the 90's cheesy-ness combined with Sonic's many copycats. But, as seen in the like bar, we live in a time where people know better.

All anybody wanted from this fiasco was a Megaman game with the numbers filed off. Go through eight-ish stages in any order, pick up a neat weapon from each one, throw in a few optional bonuses, and finish it off with a challenging gauntlet. This is a formulaic game by a man who's had some kind of hand in creating this exact formula for many a year. It should not be possible for things to have gone this wrong.

But at least there's a release date now. I thought we were going to be told it was coming out 2017-ish. There's a light at the end of this trainwreck.

Problem is there's been release dates before and they've been pushed back three times now.

I'll believe a release date they publish after the game is released. Maybe.

Oh my dear Gosh, it's one of those games, isn't it? Now I'm glad I haven't been paying attention for the last year or so.

The trailer is bad with the 90' voice telling so many things without living room for the viewers to get a breath and yes, the explosion look like a pizza...but that it.
Did we forgot how outright offensive are the videogames in general? like you know women with big asses/tits, men use puns insulting stereotypes, etc, etc.

That only works in communities and fanbases that have a sense of humor. The gaming community doesnt. We all know that gaming is SRS BSNS. If something isn't about gender politics you're doing it wrong. Amirite?

The only reason I need to dislike this trailer is that it fails at humor. No weird agenda behind it.

Boy, this thread.

I don't really see the connection between being an anime fan and buying Mighty Number 9.
You honestly don't think there's any overlap between Mega Man fans and anime fans?

OT: I don't even think this looks bad. The graphics look fine to me, though I can understand why some people might find them underwhelming, and the gameplay looks like... well, Mega Man. I got a serious out-of-touch-'90s-commercial-guy from the narrator, which on the one hand seems like a silly choice but on the other kind of makes sense for what the game is attempting to do. If only they'd had better writing, then we wouldn't have to once again go through this rigamarole of people being offended that people are offended.

lollllllllllllll

fuck that was 90's cliche bad.

also

"rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble " on being offended over some stupid as fuck joke, cry me a river over that, you're making extreme feminists look like stone cold hardasses by being butthurt over that.

I honestly can't remember if I kickstarted this or not, fucking hell it's taken forever to come out at the very least.

Man, now the AVGN has decided to take potshots at the trailer:

The mockery just keeps piling up for this game.

Jumpin Jesus Christ on a pogo stick! That game looks sick hahahaha. I knew AVGN had a game but I never paid much attention to that fact. That trailer just made him a sale lol.

Well thank god that other MM-clones don't already suck. It seems, thanks to the trailers, that MNo9 is going to be a mediocre title. Apparently, the probably mediocre sales won't stem from the genre. Even if it succeeds, it did a lot of damage to a specific, rather large audience that most likely would cry at prom night. But for now it at least will only affect the company itself and maybe Kickstarter a tiny bit.

Aren't these the people who are also developing that game where you play a woman and insert your robo friend into objects to animate them? I really wonder why so many people hyped this announcement. Without releasing the game, Inafune somehow already reminds me of Molyneux.

This still in development? Have they been spending the kickstarter money on parties and hookers?
You're saying it like it's not the norm...

Isn't this trailer a bit too fast paced, I recall Megaman being more planning then continuately run forward and shoot.
If anything the trailer has given me something to think on. How are they going to balance for gunplay(or shootplay) if you have this damaging almost instant kill dash?
