That thing is Skynet I am afraid of it and when it becomes self aware and tries to kill you I will say I told you so.

Great, now even computer generated characters will recognize my bad social skills.
This is funny.

That's so fake.
This is retarded.

And now we know.

OT: I quite like the technology involved, but I can't for the life of me think of an application for it in this scenario. Great, you can make friends with someone and watch as they respond to you. That's fantastic and the technology is top-of-the-notch, but can't I go outside and do that? Unless Lionhead have accurately predicted that in the next decade everyone will become an asshole and the only decent people left will have been programmed to be so.

It looks really different from anything that has come before it, but I feel like we just don't have the technology to do this yet. If we give it 10 years, I think this will be a little more feasible. How many phrases and words will it be able to recognize before we hit the inevitable point of: "I don't know what that means. Want to go fishing?" when you start cussing at it. Still, it looked pretty interesting, and I jumped out of my seat when the paper was instantly passed into the game. It's Peter Molyneux, so obviously he's going to tell us how revolutionary it is going to be, even if it ends up not fully working. However, no matter how it turns out, this is a big milestone in gaming, and for once, Peter really has brought a revolutionary new way to look at and interact with games.
True. I don't think AI technology has reached the point yet where it can intelligently interact with a human outside of a handful of pre-programmed activities. Maybe 10 years, as you say. AI today can be pretty smart, but extremely single minded, even if its a 'learning network'.
right now ai is at the level of crickets or spiders.
Ever looked at the complexity of a spider web? As I said, pretty smart but single minded. Like, they can learn to do one or two things, and do them well, but not alot else.
right, im not saying it was complex, i was just stating a fact.

Lol monyleux is just hyping up a sucky program that won't work 1/100th of how he promises it will. You could tell by the tech demo and the way Monyleux said, "None of this tech demo is scripted or acted" or something like that. Of course that was scripted and acted you idiot, that whole thing looked totally fake!

It seems like it could have potential. I do predict that whatever form it's released in will result in huge backlash because of the inevitable hype.

You know, like everything else Peter Molyneux has done.

EDIT: I see a lot of potential for horror games here. Anyone remember the mirror from Clock Tower: The First Fear?

The thing is, this might not have much potential in the hands of Molyneux, but what about some other group? Molyneux might be the pioneer but someone else might have the ability to take it much, MUCH farther.

Imagine if Team Ico got interested in this technology... or Kojima? Square-Enix? Bioware?

When the Atari came out people looked at it as a TOY.. same with the Nintendo Entertainment System... Toys for KIDS.

Now gaming is a multibillion dollar industry.

Nintendo took a pass on CD-Rom games and as a result we got the PS1.

Sometimes it's not the pioneer but the dreamers down the line that take a mundane seemingly useless technology and turns it into something magnificent.

Think about it... in 2020, Milo may have evolved into Windows 2020... a completely A.I. operating system...

Will anyone thank Molyneux then? Or remember his bold claims? or how we doubted that Milo had any real world application?

The people who doubt are always the first ones to be awestruck in the end.

I am pretty sure that this whole Interactive experience will become reel! because peter may not live up to what is promised but Microsoft do (Most of the time) But this isn't the next step in gaming people enjoy playing with the pads! I mean i am trying to get into PC gaming but the mouse and keyboard is a bit hard to get into to!

What would happen if you launched 2 of those "games" on two different screens and have them face each other?
Hopefully the discussion won't turn to designing giant human killing robots and nuking mankind.

Well if that's not the most amazing idea I've ever heard in my life.

I'll believe it when I see it. I'm pretty sure Milo's recognizing what you're seeing on a piece of paper only to the extent that they're able to make it pretend to recognize what's on the piece of paper.

I wonder who long it will take me to break that A.L.I.C.E. and have it repeat itself over and over again in an infinite loop of 'yeah sures'.

And so, we see the pervert and how he has evolved.

First, the pervert had blood and berries to paint on cave walls.

Second, the pervert had pencil and paper.

Then, the van was invented.

Next, video games allowed the pervert to make nude mods.

Finally, the pervert rejoices as it has discovered that Natal will make him be able to touch these nude mods. Look as it celebrates, Microsoft has done it again! Oh, then it gets eaten by a crocodile, how brutal!

Do you see where I'm going with this?

Edit: Molyneux(sp?) also doesn't have the best track record for telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. I present Fable 2 Exhibit A!

I don't know about you, but I think it's better for pedophiles to be messing with fake kids than real ones.
