Wasn't it the same as the Charlton Heston one?
Not to my knowledge. The Heston one has him escape the Apes and ends with him travelling on a beach, only to find out he was on Earth the entire time and the Apes had taken over. Hence the famous "You bastards! You blew it up!" line.
In the Tim Burton remake: the main character brings peace between the Humans and Apes, then takes the spare spacepod back through the spacial anomaly to travel back in time to his time. He then lands on Earth which for some reason is almost same as his but with Apes in place of humans and no explanation given (because the film was poorly recieved a sequel was never made).
So to my knowledge, the Heston one has him discover the planet he landed on was Earth in the future, while the Burton one was an entirely different planet with evolved Apes and Human slaves, only for the main character to travel back through space to see his earth is now an Ape-Earth.
