I wonder if they'll follow me to the nether...

I sure hope so; ideally, they could leap off the ramparts of my Hell-fortress to take down a Ghast to defend their master.
And it would be awesome.

Also, it'd be interesting if you could dye them, so I could have a whole army of wolves in every color of the rainbow.

Wait, wait, wait. We're all forgetting something here. As of now, you must hit the creature (From what I saw in that video) you want murdered. So if you want a, say, tall green block with a permanent D: face to die, you better have some armor on...

Or shot an arrow at it and watch the pack run to their demise.

This looks interesting but I have the bad feeling that most players will just wind up touting around like 30 wolves and zerg rushing everything that even looks at them funny. Then there be that one guy who just has to see how far it goes and will wind up hacking the game to give himself several hundred wolves and posting a youtube video of a moving mountain following him... actually that'd be awesome.

Apparently the wolfs only hunt melee targets. They won't kill anything hit by arrows.
And a giant furry mountain = WIN
