Modders aren't millionaires thanks to an UNFINISHED PRODUCT. Notch has slowed to a crawl with releasing now content, and often when he DOES release it, the new content is specifically stated to be mod content added to the main game (literally everything but beds in the last update were mod content).

Mojang needs to
A: Hurry the fuck up, or
B: Just release proper mod support because clearly modders can do better things with Minecraft anyway despite not being professionals with millions backing them.
Here's another thing;

there is a small amount of people working at Mojang when compared to the modding community. While the mods don't necessarily take a shorter amount of time to make, there is a wider range of people working on a wide range of mods. Because Mojang is a relatively small team, each feature they take on will slightly slow down the progress of other features, while the individual projects started by the range of mod teams won't affect each other, which in turn causes them to come out at a faster rate. This just means that that it will be pretty damn hard for Mojang to just "hurry up". Money doesn't give a small team the powers of a studio with 100 employees like you seem to ignorantly believe it does.
Not to mention mods are easier to make when they already have the engine and other coding present to work off of. Game engines alone take up most of the time, and with the game still in beta there is still a bunch of bug-sifting to do.

Wow, someone is a little impatient. Seriously, have you ever tried to make a game or code anything? It is far from easy, and with a ton of people like you demanding that he hurry up, it isn't any easier. People have lives outside of computers, you know. All these people that want him to spend every second his life on this game don't deserve to play it.
I can understand all that. However surely you can understand that when someone pays for something PRIOR TO ITS COMPLETION, with the promise the money is going towards development, a bit of regularity in that process would be expected, as opposed to announcements of 3 consecutive vacations and the inclusion of fanmade content with minimal official additions.
And then said fanmade content is used to steal your password and hence your game you plunked your hard-earned money for. As Notch and others have give warning towards [http://notch.tumblr.com/post/3919992067/warning-some-malicious-client-mods-are-stealing].
I'm quite happy to be patient on this. This game only cost me $20 which is tons cheaper than most games put out these days.
Mods can be good, but when they can be used to maliciously steal other people's accounts, not to mention become useless after an official update which do show up at decent intervals, I am happy to do without them and trust in the vigilance of Notch and Mojang.
Keep in mind that Mojang did not have to release anything of Minecraft before its completion. They could actually revoke use privileges until its release. I wouldn't blame them with this recent buggery.
You TOTALLY misunderstood the meaning of that. I mean that he LITERALLY added mods to the game in the 1.3 update. The new lighting engine? Yeah that's not a Mojang product.

Also "let's see you do better" is now and always has been a fallacious argument.
Fair enough, and taking that into account I would have to say that my comment about making your own game doesn't apply. Though as I said, it is easier to critique progress than it is to make progress yourself. That is without fallacy.
Truth be told I don't use that lighting option in the game. It adds a bit of sickliness to the appearance of most surfaces which disagrees with me. I do applaud Notch including such content as it gives those modders with true intention some nice credit to their dedication and love of the game.
As it all is, though, I endorse patience always when it comes to updates. I don't expect all of Mojang to be working 24/7 on just one game(Scrolls looks to be something to get hyped over, especially with a certain member of Penny Arcade [http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/] contributing), and neither do I expect them to rush on content, either. Rushing only leads to bugs in the releases, which Mojang would then have to stop on any further progress to do bug-fixes.

This is probably the best thing that has ever happened to Minecraft. I mean- wolves man, being your friend if tamed and that they attack anything you do. Spite Minecraft with it's blocky graphics, the game's mechanics are impressive. Can't wait to download the wolves in here- and best of all Minecraft is supplying it so I just have to start my game up for it to download :).
I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more aggression in them ... would love to be able to leave a pack of wolves at the house to keep the spiders under control.

They look pretty funny. That's cool that they attack other animals for you. Maybe theyd defend against spiders and other such things? Cant wait until fortress craft comes out. It's gonna be sweeet
I want to sic them on the other players in the server.

How would you defend against an army of wolves?

Um, I think these are the dogs that he promised someone that he would add. If you look at his blog on minecraft he mentioned that someone had coerced him into adding dogs at some point..

Why are people still responding to FredTheUndead's post? It's just fanning the flames.

would mine craft be as popular/good if it wasnt so blocky?
No because then you would take away one of its distinctive characteristics.

And how else would you build things? I can't imagine what I would be gathering when digging through a mountain. "16 grams of dirt collected" WTF?!

Not that I agree with FredtheUndead's opinions, but he is posting some of the more constructive posts here. All the other posts consists of "Love me some doggeh! cutecuteacutecutezeh", and that is just unnecessary.

As for Minecraft, I would personally like to see more blocks (mainly different types of stone) and crafting recipes, maybe paints to apply on different surfaces. I think the majority of people play minecraft because of the building-part.

I couldn't agree more. While I have no problem with waiting, I wish Notch would focus more on the building and the crafting. The wolves don't really interest me, and will only serve as Creeper cannon fodder.

I hope he makes that bed-checkpoint update soon where your bed becomes your most recent spawn point. I don't like having to travel through several biomes just to reach my latest building project, praying that my dropped items don't disappear by then.
