Blocky shadows.

Everything is realistically rendered and animated, but the outline of any shadow is blocky as fuck thanks to the real-time lighting (example; Skyrim). Which is one of the many reasons why I'm not a big fan of real-time lighting.

In Dragon age: awakenings I lost me epic armour and weapon set up from Origins. I'm managing but I really miss my spacesword, I felt like Sokka.

As for my views on the expansion so far: feels like the story was a tad rushed, and how come they included Oghren but couldn't find room for Leliana or Sten?

When the angle of FPS weapons is wrong. I can't really explain what a right angle is and I seem like the only person ever to notice this, but it's a big part of good gunplay for me and ironically, MW2 and MW3 do this exceptionally well.

Also, video games are only limited by time, money, and imagination. So why does every intelligent race or species in fantasy and science fiction games just look like a green human? The Asari in Mass Effect reached intelligence millions of years before humans on a completely different planet, but they just turn out to be blue humans with funky heads? I understand why it's a cost concern in movies - it makes sense in Star Trek to glue some stuff on a guys nose and paint his face red and call him an alien. But come on video game devs, I know you can do better!
There's actually more to it than just a cost concern like in movies or TV. When you make fictional aliens too alien you run the risk of the player not being able to empathize with them, and also make it extremely difficult to have them show recognizable emotion since we interpret a huge amount of information from facial expressions, and even from body language.

Now that isn't so bad with characters that aren't main characters since you aren't expected to interact with them frequently Mass Effect style, but it can be more of a problem with main characters. I'm not saying it's always a bad thing to have unrecognizable features in aliens though, just that you end up making the job of making them at all relatable much harder.

I hate how you have to constantly switch discs with the xbox version of mass effect 3. The running animation is also pretty shit.

All rocks in nearly every game ever is just a grey blob with no structures like bedding or joints. I think the only games that actually do this are Baldur's Gate and Fable 2. I acknowledge that I'm probably one of the only human beings to notice this and it is therefore very unlikely to change :(

Ebony in Skyrim. It's not a mineral ffs. It's a type of wood and thus mining and smelting it makes no sense whatsoever. But I can make ebony ingots and forge my own ebony weapons and armor. Grrrrrrr....

the eyes and lips in Mass Effect always continually bug me. All of the games. The characters all have cow eyes and duck lips in conversation, and there's nothing you can do about it. I just want to pull on Miranda's face until it looks human...

Unskippable cut scenes. Hate hate HATE this.

Window only mode

Incompatibility with newer systems

NO SAVE ABILITY. There are few games that don't become worse for the lack of a convenient save function - 1. casual games 2. games like binding of isaac, in which a save function would make the game considerably easier to the point of being boring. Longer games like RPGs or games which require a fair bit of strategy should have the option to save.

No ability to turn off in-game music/sound effects. Some video game soundtracks breathtaking. Others are simply annoying, same goes for sound effects. I like being able to switch them both off and just put on itunes while playing.

Games with a steep learning curve. At one point in my life I wouldn't have minded this, but with so many games out and with many other activities competing for my limited time, I just can't be bothered spending five hours learning how to play. if it takes longer than half an hour, I'll skip to another game.

Limited customization for characters. Sure not every game is an rpg with the option to give your character a million different hairstyles, but I like to at least be able to choose to play male or female, and maybe 1 or 2 different outfits.

I hate stupid animations in games. For example, BF3 multiplayer. Everytime i see some dude firing and reloading at same time I just wanna reach out to screen and slap his tits! GOD DAMN IT THAT PISSES ME OFF!

Assassin's Creed series:

Early on playing the first one, I was pleased to find that I could play with the HUD completely turned off and navigate by the map, which I think improved the experience for me.

This was the same for AC2, were it not for one thing. It was near-impossible for me to navigate from the map because of one tiiiiny thing: an arrow indicating in which was Ezio was facing. Y'could still navigate by landmarks, but it'd take me a looong time to find some things because of that.

I picked up AC Brotherhood the other day, I was enthused to find that an arrow had been added to the map. Then I realised that it DOESN'T ACTUALLY INDICATE ANYTHING! Apparently, it's just part of the 'you are here' marker.

I can't really fathom why it would have been taken out.

Tiny dialogue fuckups.
Aka, when I'm playing as a lady and someone calls me `sir/lad/boy/son`.
It's like `Thanks game`.
I recently found one of those in Skyrim, too. Was dissappointed.

in melee games where 2 swords connect eachother but dont block because your not pressing the block button
for example in Skyrim if an enemy attacks me with a sword and i press block i block it, ok. but lets say im swinging the sword and so is he and the sword paths cross eachother the swords dont hit eachother? kinda annoys me

3rd person games where the terrain actively blocks camera. I noticed it especially in Fable 2&3 and Kingdoms of Amalur. It irks me to no end.

Hard games that, when you die, have a 5-10 second loading screen. I just want to get back in the action, not watch a loading screen after I die every 30 seconds. Recent examples are Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (Which even asks if you want to continue...) and Warhammer: Space Marine, which has the main character quote over your death as you die in slow motion.

Underground/Sewer levels in RPG's. Just get rid of them, they don't add anything to the game anymore. It's like the metro system in FO3, endless, repeated tunnels that don't change.

Enemies that don't have any 'attack patterns' in games like God of War or C:LOS. Those games require some skill, so I shouldn't be shunted around by some overpowered tool.

As already mentioned, 'chosen one' storylines. Get rid of them. I don't want forty titles.
