I think he got shot through the wall, that's it.

But, yeah, delayed reaction deaths are a CoD staple. I just accept them as a fact.
They sure are... maybe I'm being unfairly harsh, but you'd think at this stage they'd have fingured something out. I mean, it's what, the seventh game in the series?

Aaaaaanyway.... if we keep on like this we're going to ruin our dual review!!
Tsshhh...

Wouldn't want to ruin the surprise, would we?
(points) AHA!! .........is it good??

You heard nothing.

I don't know... never done one before.

But it should be.

Replace Enslaved with Metro 2033 (maybe just because I haven't played Enslaved yet) and you get the exact copy of my list, complete with argumentation I'd use as well. I just couldn't write it down so skilfully as you can Miracle, another great review.

I don't 'hate' Black Ops like you do though, or at least not for the same reason. I just couldn't even get it to work on my PC (and as you can see I have played Metro 2033, so it ain't too crappy) which kicks it out of my top 5 by default, no matter how much fun it ends up being.

Very nice list thingy you've got here! It was very enjoyable to read and I liked your picks... though I don't really agree with any of them to be quite honest >>

Anyway, great job! Keep up the good work. I'll be doing the same thing sometime here soon ^-^
Not with any of them?! Now you made me curious Julian, what are your 2010 favs then?

Thanks man, appreciate the kind words.

I loved Metro 2033 too actually, thought it was super atmospheric. Wasn't a fan of the shooting though, and I especially wasn't a fan of the friendly AI... particularly in a certain section in the late stages of the game...

I have to disagree with you, sir. I cannot hate your whole list as I haven't played AC: brotherhood and neither Enslaved, but how come Fallout: NV was better than RDR?

Also, I don't know if it's a coincidence, but every single game you picked is an action/adventure title (yes, ME 2 was a action title).

Because I enjoyed it more, and this top 5 was, as I pointed out in the second paragraph, merely my opinion.

That... doesn't bother me.

There were good 'action/adventure' games this year. I would also personally classify New Vegas as an RPG but I'm not getting into a pedantic debate on that topic, it's been done to death.

Likewise.

The music, the voice acting, the pressure, the set pieces - perfect.

Too bad everyone remembers it for the multiplayer.
That's the price of having a 6-hour campaign in order to focus on the multi, I guess.

Still, twas 6 of the best hours I've ever spent.

As for the hit detection...

I was laughing when I watched this, he feels pretty much exactly how I do about the game.
Well....there is bullet spread, you can shoot through walls, and the iron sights are not always right.

OT: I agree with you on the most part, still thought ME2 was boring. I am very happy to see NV in the #2 spot, it really deserves to be high on the list despite its bugs. I haven't played Enslaved(it looks a little too much like Dark Void) but now that you put it here I have to try it.

Our Top 2 are identical and I have yet to play the bottom 3. I want Brotherhood so FUCKING BAD. D:

And I'm surprised you didn't have BlOps on there, to be honest. Due to snow I've clocked about 24 full hours on it at a mate's house over the past 2 weeks and man. I have REALLY been liking the multiplayer. And the zombies. Which is quite uncharacteristic for me...

Anyway. Nice overview, as ever. I was thinking of reviewing Mass Effect 2 but I don't want my first foray outside of music reviews to be gushing fanboy love-juice for 8 to 10 paragraphs.

I loved it at first but I dunno, it just makes me so mad when I play it that I have to stay away form it. Partly because I suck, partly because I get screwed by connection on the rare occasion I'm playing well.

Here's a better example, watch the last two clips. This happens me about every 5 minutes in Black Ops. It's pointless even trying sometimes.

Nice list although i would disagree with most of them but Mass effect 2 would certainly be in

there i dont think it would be number one mainly because i started playing it again on

insanity mode and it just seems so much more closed off as oposed to the first one still a

great game though. Maybye ill have to make on of these.

Whoa, our top 5 is very similar. Actually, they're just rearranged versions of each other.
1. Mass Effect 2 (makes my all-time top 5)
2. Red Dead Redemption (also makes me all-time top 5)
3. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
4. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
5. Fallout: New Vegas

Honorable mentions: Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom (more people should definitely give this a go. The visuals are amazing. Just try to cope with some of the voice acting), Super Mario Galaxy 2, Dragon Age Origins: Awakening

I'm also experiencing for the first time in my life this year some games"

- Okami is as great as advertised. The hype it gets from fans seems impossible to live up to, but it accomplishes the task.

- A JRPG, period. I'm trying to give JRPGs an honest chance. I know many lifelong fans of the genre will groan at hearing my introduction to JRPGs is Final Fantasy XIII, as many say it is one of the series' weakest entries and somewhat of a fraud to the genre. For the record, I'm finding it somewhat enjoyable, though I can't play it for long periods of time without growing wear of it. I've also got to overlook some cheesy dialogue ("Moms are tough!") and genre-stereotypical characters. But a different JRPG is absolutely winning me over, and it should be no surprise. Earthbound is a spectacular, ever-witty and never boring experience. I'm glad I'm giving the genre a chance so far.

It was a very good year, indeed. Two all-time favorites in one year is an achievement.

I've played 4 of the 5 games, Enslaved being the exception. I just want to commend you for using logic to support your opinions. I enjoyed Mass Effect 2 greatly, especially for the epic finale (as you pointed out) but I liked the first one more. I just thought they dumbed down the RPG elements.

Well, you guys convinced me to have another go, and I just went 24-1 in TDM on Firing Range :)

Let's hope I haven't jinxed it by posting about it :D

I've played Okami through 3 times and loved it more each time. It pleases my eyes and it warms my heart.

Good list, makes me want to play mass effect more than ever now.
*shakes fist at 360 owners*

I'm surprised you didn't have Bioshock 2 on the list though, that was definitely up with the best games of the year for me, along with Galaxy 2.

A good list, I suppose, but mine would have looked different. If anything, I'd have ditched ME2 and replaced it with Transformers: War for Cybertron (not necessarily at the same rank in my list), and possibly Darksiders could have found its way on my list as well.

As for next year... I know, I'm a shameless fanboy, but W40k: Space Marine is looking like a barrel of fun, and Dawn of War 2: Retribution is shaping up to be awesome as well, especially with a return (gameplay-wise, somewhat) to RTS, and SP campaigns for most (or all) participating factions.

Good gaming list, I liked Mass Effect 2, RDR and FNV too. Although I'm still tossing up over what I'd put first over ME2 and Fallout New Vegas.
ME2 was a clear winner for me because of the technical flaws in New Vegas. ME2 felt polished and to a high standard right the way through, while New Vegas at times felt like it had been coded by complete amateurs.
