Whoa, our top 5 is very similar. Actually, they're just rearranged versions of each other.
1. Mass Effect 2 (makes my all-time top 5)
2. Red Dead Redemption (also makes me all-time top 5)
3. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
4. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
5. Fallout: New Vegas
Honorable mentions: Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom (more people should definitely give this a go. The visuals are amazing. Just try to cope with some of the voice acting), Super Mario Galaxy 2, Dragon Age Origins: Awakening
I'm also experiencing for the first time in my life this year some games"
- Okami is as great as advertised. The hype it gets from fans seems impossible to live up to, but it accomplishes the task.
- A JRPG, period. I'm trying to give JRPGs an honest chance. I know many lifelong fans of the genre will groan at hearing my introduction to JRPGs is Final Fantasy XIII, as many say it is one of the series' weakest entries and somewhat of a fraud to the genre. For the record, I'm finding it somewhat enjoyable, though I can't play it for long periods of time without growing wear of it. I've also got to overlook some cheesy dialogue ("Moms are tough!") and genre-stereotypical characters. But a different JRPG is absolutely winning me over, and it should be no surprise. Earthbound is a spectacular, ever-witty and never boring experience. I'm glad I'm giving the genre a chance so far.
It was a very good year, indeed. Two all-time favorites in one year is an achievement.
