Personally I think the concept for the gameplay is intersting and brilliant. And I have to admit the story line does fit in with the situation.

Great gameplay + Great Graphics + Great Story = Friggin awesome game

Great gameplay + Great Graphics + Poor Story = Great game

Average gameplay + Great Graphics + Poor Story = Average game

I just believe that a game needs a way beyond shooting and blowing things up in order to tell the narrative or what little there is of it.

As I have not played the game I cannot judge the quality of the gameplay or the story, but from what is shown in the trailers, I have to admit I am looking towards this game.

I am really looking foreward to Mirrors Edge, the E3 trailer was simply stunning. What really appeals to me about this game is the location, beautiful clean city scape, such a breath of fresh air.

I think the truly original aspect of this game is that the city is not poor, filthy, rundown city. At least for me the "dystopian Orwellian cities" have always been such.

Though I have never read 1984.

EDIT: Wait, what, it's coming to computers too? I thought it was just for consoles. Damn, I could buy this!

EDIT: Okay, final edit. Let's hope levels are big enough. In this type of a game, having load times as frequently as HL2 for example would make it unplayable.

I think levels will be fine, the first level was about 7 minutes, also have to remember that part of this game's appeal will be speed runs, seeing how fast you can bust through a level on certain paths hoping to achieve the fastest time. I figure they'll be broken up by cut scenes or briefings moreso than they would just in the middle of the level you get a loading message.

I actualy like the hl2 loads. They usualy occured right as you walk into an important room giving you a few seconds to inventarise nearby objects for future refference and punting.

I admit, I might be biased against HL2's load times, because when I played HL2 on my old computer, the load times were so long that I used to read couple of pages of Tex Willer during the loading times. But even though my PC was crap, there were still too many of them! Kinda damages the pacing, you know.

I had no problem with the HL2 loading, you must just be impatient. When is comes to Mirrors Edge its looks nice but i'm skeptical, i just hope it has a good story.
maybe you didn't and for the most part, i didn't mind them (i use them as a drinking break) but let's be objective here. in-game load screens are an archaic nuissance and there is no place for them in modern games.

if horrible games with half competent programmers could avoid mid-level load screens, why can't valve?

if Mirror's Edge has mid-level load screens then it's over, because the amount of ground you'll be covering in that game is going to be more than a shooter and the load screens will stand out more, breaking up the pace of the action.

I looks like the kinda game that will bore the hell outa everyone who plays it for more than half an hour (which is why the trailers are so short).

With the gameplay focusing on running on top of rooftops it looks cool but that means that running on rooftops is bassically the only thing to do. I can just imagine myself playing it.

"Wow these graphics look amazin. Yeah jupin ova fences, hopin ova rooftops, sliden unda stuff cool. (ten minutes later) Uh cool more fences and slidin and rooftop jumpin. (twenty minutes later) o_O This is getting boring REALLY BORING (walks away from console while grabbing some motion sickness pills).

In my opinion it looks like a good DOWNLOADABLE GAME but other than that it just looks like a horrible attempt to reinvent the FPS genre.

(ten minutes later) Uh cool more shootin people, running folks, throwing grenades at noobs.(Twenty minutes later) o_O This is getting boring REALLY BORING (walks away from console while grabbing some eye drops because eyes are bleeding from all the bloom lighting.)

You've obviously never actually played Halo. There really isn't that much bloom lighting.

You should have made an accurate comparison then. I'm gonna make shit up about MGS4, blatantly untrue shit, and it'll be OK because I need a comparison.

I'm mildly excited for this. The brief mentions of the controls sound interesting and the lack of inventory is somewhat appealing. There are few games that allow for real environment exploration without combat as the primary mechanic.

I'm not enthralled by the story. BBEG gov't is coming to get you in a cyber punk dystopia! I take it as a given since I'm not playing this one for the plot. If the plot gets more complex I'll be happy, but there'd have to be some amazing turnabouts to make it anything more.

Developers mentioned that there would be alternate paths that would not be highlighted by runner vision.

Blantantly untrue? There were sections in Halo were the bloom made it nearly unplayable.

my proof.

and

Not neccesarily unplayable I admit, but it definately made my eyes hurt.
