So today while playing online I saw a guy who had the name Last Wyvern and my friend said it outloud and pronounced Wyvern like (Why-vern) when I have always pronounced it (Wi-vern)

I also always called Zealots (Zee-lots) instead of (Zeh-lots)

My question is have you ever figured out that you have been mispronouncing a word for your entire life?

I will occasionally try to tell my friend how to say a Japanese word. It takes a good ten minutes before he can pronounce it right.

I speak too fast for my mouth to catch up, so I have a tendency to trip over words. I had the Wyvern problem for the longest time, too. And Extremist. I always said it Extre-mist. I'm much better at typing, and just as fast.

Coelacanth.

I've prounced it (Coal-a-canth) for my entire life.

I'm pretty sure it's actually pronounced (seel-a-canth).

Turret isn't turrent. My mind was blown.

Also, I always call it way-vern. Plus I call manga mang-ga and did the same as you with zealot. I don't think this stuff is a big deal though, since people still know what we're talking about.
Edit: Epitome was epi-tome, colonal was colon-ole...

Being from New Zealand we have a tendency to say words beginning with T as ch, example instead of U-Toob (Youtube) we'd say U-chew-b. Or instead of Too-nah, its choo-nah (for tuna). I never used to notice, but once I did everytime someone says them its all I can hear.

Also heinous, I've always said hee-nuss, instead of hay-nuss.

And I heard someone say for kay-shh instead of cash for the word cache.

Apparently for the longest time, I was pronouncing Ocarina of Time wrong. I was pronouncing it Oh-carina, were as the name of the game and the instrument is called Ah-carina...which just sounds stupid, so I'm not changing my pronunciation.

I think that's just a toma-toh, toma-tah kind of thing.

OP reminded me, my friend was talking about Protoss (of StarCraft fame). He was pronouncing zealot correctly, but was pronouncing the Templar Archives as "are-chives," like it actually looks, instead of "are-kives."

I used to mispronounce this all the time until I started watching Stargate SG-1. At first I thought the subtitles were wrong, then it hit me.

For the longest time, I pronounced the word "have" like "half", but only for some phrases.

An example of this would be: I "half" to do (blank).

I have corrected this mistake now.

For a while my friends and I always said Ninja Gaiden as Ninja [Gay-den] (which makes little sense in retrospect) since the title is never actually said in the game, it was only after I got into Japanese anime and the like that I realised it was [Gye-den]. My freinds still call it Gayden; makes me feel like a massive Otaku when I pronounce it properly.

I can remember being shocked about the English language when I discovered that opinion is not oppinion.
And back in my DotA-days I always pronounced recipe "re-cipe"(like in re[connect] and hype) instead of "rah-se-pee".

And I just found out that "wheat" is pronounced "weet" (like weed with hard t) and not "wet". I also thought "deaf" is "deef" and not "deff".
English really wants to trick me. BUT HAH - I am just not gonna use these words any more. That's what you get, English.

Epitome. I always pronounced it Eppy tome when it should be more Ee pit toe mee.

EDIT:

This is one I stumbled over when doing a reading test aged 9 or 10 so I'll always remember it. (Was still a few years ahead of my 'reading age' though :p)
