Shigeru Miyamoto, maker of many Nintendo franchises, is planning on substantially lowering the difficulty of the upcoming Zelda title for the Wii.

Not much is known of the new Zelda title. Nintendo has kept the lid tight on this but a few details have been leaked such as exclusive Motion Plus control, concept art and that Miyamoto intends on lowering the difficulty in an attempt to appeal to a larger array of gamers.

In a recent interview, Miyamoto stated, "[the team] are creating new ways to play the game" He later states that "We are trying to make Zelda, which has become very complicated, easier to play"

The Zelda franchise has gone through many changes throughout its history. From 2D art and 8bit music to full 3D worlds and open landscapes to explore but now it seems Miyamoto believes the Zelda games may be "too challenging for some gamers" and wishes to make the game easier.

Don't know about the rest of you, but in my own opinion, Zelda has never really been up there in terms of difficulty and this new change may just bring an unwanted ease. Let's just say it's never been up there with games like Super Ghouls and Ghosts when it comes to challenge.

i agree entirely. Zelda is hardly a contra like game of difficulty. Taking the challenge out of challenges makes them less fun.

Don't panic. Don't panic!

Remember how easy but great Wind Waker was? Think of Wind Waker! Everything will be fine!

I never considered the 3D games to be that difficult or complex. I don't understand how dumbing it down further will appeal to more people.

Unless they make it more of a farm sim.

That just sounds stupid.

The games were challenging but never difficult. Dumbing down the game might leave many fans disappointed.

What we need is an entire game of Water Temples.

Put some God damn hair on your chest, that would.
But there would be a massive spike in Bear men...

Maybe just a adjustable difficulty would do the trick...

This news has absolutely no effect on my anticipation for the title. I'm still waiting anxiously for it.

It depends what he means. Is he referring to the series, or to the particular game he is making? If the game, then it might not be so bad, when adding a lot of new ideas, it is possible for a game to become overcomplex, but if he's referring to the series... well, like everyone else said, it's never been especially hard, and to dumb it down would be an insult.

Before everyone overreacts we should wait to see what he means

I get the feeling this will just have something to do with auto play thing that he implemented in to Galaxy 2 and New Super Mario Brothers Wii

Oh no. Whatever will we do? Oh no...I feel betrayed now...Nintendo...why? They were never hard to begin with. You should make new IPs.
That's called sarcasm. I was pretending to be a hater.

As for them "Dumbing down" the upcoming Legend of Zelda title, let em. They weren't hard anyway.

Only the water temples, some races, and getting the things for the real Big Goron's sword were hard. Maybe it will become press X to not die...and it never goes away till you press it. Bleh. That is literally a shot against hardcore gamers. Know your roots Nintendo.

Zelda's difficult?

What?

I beat Ocarina Of Time when I was 6 for fucks sake! The only really insane one was the first.

I tell you, today's kids are wimps! Back in my day, you asked for easy difficulty, you'd get beaten up!

Grumble grumble.

So needless to say, this does annoy me somewhat, especially since I hate games that are cakewalks where you can't change the difficulty!
Essentially this.

I've written them several times about including an option for classic controls. They are kind enough to repsond (which is more than I can say for other companies) but I don't know how seriously they take comments. I'll probably still get it, mainly because I enjoy the games so much, but I probably won't enjoy it as much if I have to flail my arms like an idiot.

Oh and Nintendo...if you must use motion controls, THEN INCLUDE AN OPTION TO WIELD THE SWORD LEFT HANDED! LINK IS A LEFTY, NOW KEEP IT THAT WAY! /rant

Im glad that he is making it accessible to people who are not so good at Adventure Games with some of the most difficult puzzles iv ever solved.
LoZ:Links Awakening Bird Tower anyone?

I just hope it doesn't make it to easy.
After beating OoT several times i still have trouble on certain Dungeons but i was able to fly past A Link to the Past, which many of the people i know who have played it have said it was the hardest Zelda title they have ever played.

We shall just haft to wait and see but personally, im not too worried about it becoming so easy it isn't fun.
