I don't think it will ever stop on these forums, sadly.
Nope. And it's hard to ignore it.
I'll say, any thread involving Nintendo always has people saying they hate it. Why can't people leave Nintendo alone if they don't like them? I don't like other game companies but I don't scream it from the rooftops for everyone to hear.
I remember talking to Kuliani about some of the Nintendo hate thread and gave examples on them. Like how come the Halo,PS3,Xbox 360 hate threads are locked so fast but the Nintendo hate threads are never locked. And some of them(while no longer active) are still open and not locked.

Ocarina of Time was never hard, and with the exception of Majora's Mask the Zeldas have only been getting easier.

Easier to play?

Since it's a Wii game, was easier to play with the motion-controls?

You kids and your complainings about Nintendo franchise!

As long as there is:
A guy in a green tunic with the unexplainable urge to kill things.
A princess in need of saving or other form of assistance.
An asshole magic user trying to get the Hyrule themed maguffin.

I'm down with it.

Well, Zelda has never been exceedingly deep or difficult for the most part. It's pretty much as introductory level as you can get, being the game that inspires more difficult versions of the same basic gameplay style.

I can however see where he's coming from though to an extent, we have more gamers now than ever before since gaming has become considerably more mainstream. The lowest common human denominator has always been very low... the typical person... rather pathetic when you start looking at averages.

When you look at the number of people buying shooters, or things like "Farmville", and how base such things are... well it's understandable for people in business to want to grab some of that cash for themselves rather than continueing to cater to a niche market. The differance between a good profit, and a monster profit.

Plus I'll be a bit honest, to some extent I can see where he's coming from. Zelda always struck me as being pretty kiddy-kiddy at it's roots. It however grew up with it's fan base and has been morphing and growing darker with time, losing a lot of the elements of what made it Zelda. "Twilight Princess" is about as dark and "Grown up" as you can get without really decimating the charm of the franchise. What's next? Have link trade his green for leather bondage straps, his wavy locks and cap for a punk haircut, and have three out of his four limbs severed in grotesque torture (which he must avenge) only to be replaced by master swords.... his remaining hand used to carry the shield, as he runs around like a "Silent Hill Monster" (click, click, click) flipping through the air like human shuriken....

I don't much care for simplifying it, but really I don't think this was a franchise intended to push the evelope for jaded people in their mid 30s. Those of us in that age catagory will of course still doubtlessly play it, but I think while the general depth should stay the same, a general return to it's innocent roots would be a good thing after "Twilight Princess" and "Majora's Mask" (the former having perhaps one of the most powerful stories in gaming, even if it's not one of the deepest).

Can't find anything in that article about lowering the difficulty. "Easier to play" could mean a whole host of things up to and including lowering the difficulty. Let's be a little more patient and not draw a whole load of assumptions from one vague (and probably dodgily translated) sentence.

Hopefully he's simply talking about making the controls less difficult, perhaps making less items necessary to play the game, or plans on implementing an Auto Play feature. If he actually plans on making the gameplay easier, he's going to have a lot of angry fans on his hands...

[HEADING=1]WHAT![/HEADING]
HOW CAN IT BE EASIER THAN TWILIGHT PRINCESS!

I admit I always have fun with zelda, but they have always been easy, and TP is the easiest of them all.

If it gets any easier I can just waggle the wiimote ten times to win the whole game.

as a matter of fact the easy boss fights were the only thing that made me not fully enjoy TP.

Why is miyamoto always the best and worst things to happen to his franchise.

NES games were often simple, but very hard. Games have gotten much more complex (look at current controllers) in many ways, but tend to easier to complete.

Wha? Zelda's difficult? What the fuck's Miyamoto smoking? Honestly, I thought Zelda was on the easier side of the gaming spectrum. It's no Ninja Gaiden, Contra, Mega Man 9, or Battletoads. That actually... kinda kills my interest in it.

It seems like with each new Zelda game the puzzles keep getting dumbed down. I remember playing through Twilight Princess and every time you enter a new room in a dungeon the camera would always pan out to show you the puzzle. Then it would pan out onto each and every puzzle piece you needed to solve the puzzle. That always frustrated me. I quit getting excited about Zelda titles before Wind Waker came out.

Fucking stupid people have to ruin the game for the real fans. Miyamoto is a dumbass for thinking this way.
