MLP: Welp, it's official (SEASON 3 FINALE SPOILERS)

The rumors were true after all, apparently. Thus begins the greatest shitstorm in bronydom since Derpygate:

Yep, it appears Twilight Sparkle is going to become an alicorn, along with a promotion to princess status to boot. What's more, it sounds like the change is permanent.

Personally, I've adopted a "wait and see" approach to this. The show has a bunch of talented writers that haven't let me down yet (aside from the occasional "meh" episode). I will admit that this smacks of executive meddling on Hasbro's part in order to sell more toys, though. Still, the show's crew has endured this sort of thing before (royal Canterlot wedding) and still managed to create something awesome. Changing the status quo in such a radical way is risky, but it also has the potential to open up all sorts of new ideas for future seasons.

To be honest, my entire reaction to this revelation is to pointedly look at all the panic there was over 'executive meddling' when the Royal Wedding episodes were revealed. How could they possibly shoehorn in another alicorn and Twilight's brother?! Then the Season 2 finale aired... and most people loved it. So really, I'm not worried about this at all. I know some people are running around like headless chickens, but really, I'm being cautiously optimistic about this. Like you said, the writers have dealt with this sort of thing before. Why should this be any different?

Man I tried really hard NOT to give into the whole Twilight will become a Alicon story months before this. Ok so what she become an Alicon? I am still not convince her new found status will ruin her friendship so I don't believe she will leave them, otherwise what will the planned season 4 will be about? If not anything, she probably become the princess of Ponyville but I suppose we will have to wait and see two weeks times (I suppose one of the season 4 episode will be Rainbow Dash teaching her how to fly with her new wings).

I have no idea what the signifigance of Alicorns or Princesses are, so, yeah. All I know is my friend is going to lose it because her daughter will want the new toys. Yay.

I miss the MLP's I had when I was a kid. I still have some packed away in boxes.

I'd also insert my own popcorn gif, but I'm lazy. I will watch the incoming rage over a purple unicorn with rainbow hair getting wings and becoming a pretty, pretty princess though. Because that makes sense.

Twilight's going to become an alicorn as well as a princess. This basically means that she will have wings now, become more powerful, and (if I'm not mistaken) become immortal. This will cause changes in her character. And bronies fear change. All of it.

It's hard to imagine Twilight exerting any kind of political power. I think we're more likely to see stories about her reintegrating as a normal citizen, trying to put all her relationships the way they were before, rather than displacing the Mayor.
