I would've loved a sudden cut half-way through a mission: "And now: INTERMISSION". Immediate cut to a badly-built carnival shooting gallery, bb guns, and badly drawn pop up pictures of Imran Zakayev.
Let's give this man a hand..

This is the best movie I've ever played. Beat it at 6 AM the day I got it. I loved every bit of it. This game is indeed exactly what the hype made it out to be, and then some.
That's exactly what I thought!

It's not so much a game as an interactive movie. I didn't think it worked as well as the first one though, because it IS very movie-like - including all the boring action movie cliches.
OH no..this isn't going the route of Hideo Kojima is it?
ABSOLUTELY NOT. Take a look at my full review in the User Reviews section to see what I mean by that.

Not got it, but I will have it eventually. 1 thing I absolutely hate is the removal of Party Chat on some gametypes for the Xbox 360. There's a petition to get it back...normally I wouldn't care, but Party Chat is a service I pay for so why should they be able to take that away? Especially for a game thats overpriced as it is.

Oh yeah, and Activision has done something right - FUCKING PISSING ME OFF.

I literally TEARED through HORDES of Hardened enemies, only to be shot by my own FUCKING general ? GOD DAMN IT TO HELL!

But still.. great game.. 9.5/10 at the moment.

The solo campaign was excellent (though short) and (without giving any spoilers) set us up for another brilliant Modern Warfare game.
The amount of weapons is excellent in single player. The Winchester 1887 shotgun was a nice suprise.
The plot twists in the game keep you guessing.
The multiplayer maps are awesome and nicely varied.
I haven't played the multiplayer mode too much but the one downer (for 360 atleast) is the lack of party chat support.

I picked it up at the midnight release and played it straight through on Veteran, took me about 6 or 7 hours. Best. Game. Ever.

Tried the SF missions, but decided to skip them and head straight into multiplayer today and had a blast. I'm loving the new game types and the maps, very hectic still. Multiplayer on PC is still AWESOME.

Anyone know how long the single player campaign is?
I just went through it in 4 1/2 hours on Normal.
And it was the most action packed campaign I've ever played. My God, it starts fast and doesn't really slow down until the end. Even then it doesn't feel slow.

There's still a horribly high level of host advantage but I suppose that can't be helped.
They could have used dedicated servers... ;)

Ok, I have played enough of it to give you guys estimates:

Single Player - FANTASTIC! - 10/10
Multiplayer - WICKED FUN! - 9.5/10

So yes, buy it. I ain't regretting it.

Well, I've been playing for about 3 hours now, and have some impressions with the game.

1. Takes about an hour and a half to install, more if you don't have steam already. Pretty painless.

2. What the hell? After you start the game, it takes you to a 'main menu' with three options: Special Ops, Campaign, and Multiplayer. Clicking on 'campaign' takes you straight into the game. If you want to customise settings, first you have to wait for the intro to finish playing, then pause and adjust when the first mission starts proper - very, very annoying, especially since you have to re-load the mission if you change the video setting. Default when you first start is 640x480 - another annoyance.

3. the action is pretty immediate, once you get past the annoyances, same style training missions, setup, etc.

4. (SPOILERS) they drop some pretty huge bombshell within the first few missions - believe me when I say that gunning down civillians in that level isn't the worst thing that happens.

5. Gameplay wise, it's pretty much the same controls as COD 4, a few tweaks, the default Melee button is now E and the default special grenade is now Q - much easier to use without looking or remapping.

6. It looks good, REALLY good, better even than the first. But with that comes the flogging of the graphics and processor

7. Special Ops is good for a quick, no-story game, but beware some spoilers - it uses maps that augment the main game, so you should probably finish that first

8. The choice of weapons is BATSHIT, whatever you want - I even got a hold of a Kriss [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2kEg8rEPl8] at one point.

That's all, I'll post a full-review in the next few days hopefully.
Love it. Just finished the campaign, it's everything I could have hoped for and more.

It takes everything form COD4 and turns it up to 11, just wait till you get to the final few missions... you're in for a treat.

Any shooter fan who boycotts this game will be missing out on one of the most spectacular single-player gaming experiences of thier lives.
uncharted 2? cos thats games single player is better than MW2 SP

I just finished my first play-through and right now the only complaint I can think of is that the ending wasnt quite to my personal taste.

I'm quite happy for room to be left for a sequeal and I dont mind leaving some questions un-answered but it seems more and more games arent doing enough to satisfy my desire for a 'proper' conclusion.

I dont mind the feeling of 'oh man, I cant wait for the sequel' but it just doesnt sit well with me when I have that feeling, very strongly, half a second after the credits roll.

MW2 certainly isnt the worst offender (looking at you FEAR2 *grrr* ), but it's another ending to add to the list that left me feeling hungry when I should be satisfied.

Finished the campaign a couple of hours ago. Really worth it. Not best game ever made, but rock solid campaign.

They're two completely different games, that's like cpmparing Tomb Raider to Doom.

I was too busy shaking with adrenaline at that point to even care about the credits coming in so early... It was an exhausting final few misisons and I was glad to get there!

the game is fun, story fun, civilian level cooler at the end, I didn't really shoot any civilians just walked with the guys, though threw my morals to the wind when polices preceded to own me.
multi fun, feels different I like it, the multi levels feel a little restrictive and small(maybe just me though)
Haven't tried spec ops. cause you cant just join a game or host, have to invite a friend like ODST firefight.
IF you haven't played it, rent it or PC get a demo or something I don't know.
but definitely play it before actively hating people.

This. Game. Rocks.

Good story, absolutely GREAT story.

And yes, sequel won't be bad.

But awesome. And now, to grind Rep with my homies in multiplayer :D

I thought that, to me any multiplayer FPS is never worth playing when i could be playing Unreal Tournament instead so im going to pick it up before work if my luck doesn't run dry
Yep.

I'm sure the multi is great too, despite the disadvatages of the PC version.

One teeny tiny thing... the last mission pissed me off due to a few cheap deaths. But hey, when you see the climactic scene you'll forgive it straight away.
How was the PC version disadvantaged by all account the game is very similar accross all platforms.
well either way I couldn't buy it every platform sold out

The ending left me with a rather bad taste in my mouth. You've just defeated on bad guy, with the big bad still on the loose, suddenly! Credits!

When you consider the extremely short playtime, IW has really just released MODERN WARFARE: EPISODE 2. Unfortunately, unlike the Half-Life episodes, Modern Warfare 2 doesn't come with enough extras to warrant the 80 dollar pricetag. At least the orange Box came with no less than 5 games
