So why is bombing the Middle East or Eastern Europe okay but not bombing Washington DC? Would this guy have been complaining as much if it was New York or Chicago? What about my country, what if we were bombing London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool or Leeds, Io forbid? Is there really that much difference? For the answer, watch ZP. Whether the answer be long or short, it's a resounding NO.

Personally I think this is what it will look like trying to get Obama to give up the white house in eight years, hopefully 2 (impeachment). They aren't terrorists fortified in the white house, it's Obama's zombie followers.

EDIT: back on topic, I dare anyone to even try to take over America with war. Most people take their right to bear arms VERY seriously. It would simply be stupid to attempt all out war with America. Not to mention that if it got too bad I would hope that someone launches a nuke at their home country. The game is fictional any way does it freaking matter?

EDIT 2: Oh, I hope they include the IRS building! I'll stand there with a rocket launcher and just flip them off....Once I'm out of ammo.
I don't know why loads of you Americans are so annoyed at Obama. What the fuck did he do to you? Surely he's better than Bush. Who would you prefer to lead the country. And don't say anything stupid, like "A better country is one with noo leadarz loool."

honestly, i'm as sickened by by most of the responses i read here (by no means did i read the whole thread) as i am by the rantings of teh CSM ass-fuck-tard.

i see a bunch of whinny little gits jumping (back) on the "amerika iz badz" bandwagon.

tribal-centric fucks like your selves are teh problem.

your countries are the same as mine. full of self righteous pricks with shit that smells of roses.

*i'm not directing this at all on the thread, but if it hurts you, your prolly one of the targets.

g'heah, report me, ban me, i can still watch what i wanna watch here lolololololololololololol.

"Games based on current events are seeing something of a surge," he continued. "But something tells this writer there's something of a difference between a cartoonish Flash game where the object is to try to hit George W. Bush with a shoe, and one in which the destruction of a major U.S. city - in near photo-realistic detail - plays a central role."
No, there is not. They're both games, work of fiction.

Aaaaaaaand, I stopped caring here.

It's kind of like posing a highly difficult quantum physics problem to a 3rd grade "special needs" class and expecting anything useful to come out of it...
Seconded really.

By the way, what is the big problem here? 99.9999% Chance that you'll be tasked with saving Washington. What is móre patriotic than saving your besieged capitol? You won't be doing the bombing, you'll do the bombing of the bombers. Why can't they see that?!

But that's just using their own logic against them. It's bullshit anyway, as if it's ok to destroy a random city in the Middle-East or a village in Eastren Europe in photo-realistic detail, but when it's suddenly our own capitol ooooo that's too far! That's just utterly disgusting, as if they are not people, far away cardboard things that have no meaning. Yuch.

Well it looks like some people can't accept that eventually Russia (Oh come on its obviously going to be either Russia or China) will decide to go phyco crazy on everyone and start tearing up the funky house war scene.

I'm not saying he's better or worse than bush. In fact I think the last several elections have been a toss up between a giant douche and a turd sandwich (see the South Park episode), but that's beside the point. Obama won because he brainwashed every idiot into his believing him with his monosyllabic sayings, well I just HOPE I have some f*cking CHANGE when he's through.

and now that I have you angry and replying to the joke of my post I just have to say...
"I win"

EDIT: I realize now that I am off topic, I am really looking forward to this game. just wish I had the money to buy it.

"In the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2... the gallant mansion reduced to rubble doesn't belong to some crazed separatist dictator hellbent on all kinds of nefarious acts. Instead, it's the White House," he wrote. "The scenes of post-apocalyptic scenes of carnage play out not in some fictional town in eastern Europe, but in Washington D.C. itself."
What i get from this statement is that middle eastern countries can be blown to shit for all i care, but not my country. Or, America can never be defeated in any possible scenario, even fictional aliens a la Independance day would be destroyed by our mighty mecha whitehouse. Oh and i'm a douche bag and assume that if gamers see an image of the white house under attack they will assume they must mass at the white house and attack it.

Gentlemen, we have found a retard.

How is that bad? You can play in burning German towns in Call of Duty 1. I guess people just like to complain.

The whole point of this was to get attention for the Christian Science Monitor from people who have never heard of it or want to hear of it again. And it worked.

I think it's high time America got its share of digital carnage. I mean, America is so secure in its military power, in the sense that we don't have to worry about being invaded by Canada or Mexico, that is, that a full-scale military onslaught on American soil is almost unthinkable. That's why it's so cool, and that's why this game is going to make buckoo bucks.

Imagine if Hitler had actually listened to his brilliant generals, and had conquered all of Europe and Asia, and then decided to come after the U.S.? We'd have moved the capital to Cheyenne Mountain by 1945. There'd be nothing left of D.C.! That would make for a sweet game!

I am an american and I feel that having D.C destroyed has more impact on me because I am like wow my home my country is in ruins and the country has been thrown into chaos i need to do something.
This should happen more often.

Edit: in games I mean

If this game is seriously getting problems over that, we should go to the source of all problems: the Independence Day movie.

Honestly, digging up a random article from Christian Science Monitor seems more like an attempt at stirring up emotions against the the right than anything else. Most of the responses here are pretty much "the right sucks," "America sucks," and "Christians suck" (pretty progressive judging an entire group/nation/religion based on a single obscure article) rather than talking about the game itself.

Everyone raise your hand if you've even heard of CSM! Those of you with your hand raised, how many of you take it's influence seriously? It's no TIME or Times, it's Christian mother f#$*ing Science Monitor!

Personally I'd assume any American would rather defend their country from an immediate threat than attack a vague foreign one. When I first watched the trailer my mind went immediately to Freedom Fighters (in other words, WIN). My only concern is WHAT could have done this, fearing ALIENS DUN IT and hoping for ALTERNATE HISTORY

both Russia and China have the resources and manpower (if not the brass tacks [for now]) to initiate something like that.
Russia couldn't even make Georgia, a small former Soviet satellite RIGHT NEXT TO IT look like that, let alone D.C. In it's grand Soviet days, maybe, but now it's only friends are small nations with idiots for leaders asking "TANK PLZ."

As far as China's concerned, they have enough trouble keeping lawyers scared, civilians in line, and mouths fed to endure the political and economic fallout of a war with the US, let alone put up any sort of fight. China as it stands is as delicate a house of cards as a tragic portion of their buildings.

In summery, no, I don't believe Russia or China pose a realistic threat now or in the near future, especially when each continues to fall further and further behind technologically.

Now another option as seen in the trailer is random terrorist being the perpetrators, perhaps covertly moving into the D.C. area under the guise of civilians and utilizing synchronized bombings all over the city before launching a full assault, but this brings to mind two questions; How will the immigrant community respond to such a depiction and would terrorist really want to attack an entire city as crime ridden as D.C.? it's like a scorched earth policy in the Sahara.
