I played it for the first time today, the level where you massacre the people at the airport. Interesting. =-/

<overly-written post snipped for space>
You can't compare Special Operations Forces. Ask any member of any one, and they will say that it's worse than comparing apples and oranges. SOF units have different roles: some are Unconventional Warfare-centric, some Direct Action, some Hostage rescue, etc. Even those that fill the same role can't really be compared, as it varies on a soldier to soldier basis, and all these groups train together anyway. Source: Friends in SOF groups from >1 country. (No bias here).

Edit- Also that post brings to mind the quote "It's hard to be humble when you're as completely amazing as I am, but I always am." Humble nature indeed.
True, you've got some good points there, but I stand by my opinion. And that's all it is, just my opinion. One based on researched facts, but an opinion nonetheless.

As for your last comment: Whatever, man.

1)Single player is great fun. I did it in 4 hours (3:58:29 to be exact) but it was THRILLING and AWESOME (Trust me - best 3:58:29 of my life [gaming]). So yes, it is awesome. The airport slaughter thing kinda threw me off. And the part where you
get shot by that Russian guy, and then by your own fucking general pisses me off still
.

2)Multiplayer is so much fun right now. The new kill streaks are very well balanced actually, and the new perks are cool.

I payed 849 EKR (Estonian krones) for it, which is c.a. 82 USD.
WORTH. IT.

Take your 'cool story bro' and shove it somewhere painful, I'm no troll. Pick a fight with someone who cares.

Just played about 40mins on PC. NO LAG AT ALL.
Uh huh, post a speed test result for some one who'm is 250 miles away, I need to see this before I can believe what you say.
Does it still show ping or that silly bar thing consoles have?
The bar thing, really don't see the point in it. Hey look guys, we have readily available technology we even implemented in past versions of this franchise. Let's not give it to them.
And to the other guy who quoted me, I don't really have a specific mile range the people I was playing with were in, but its 12:48 (am) so maybe I just got lucky.

No steam achievements yet either it seems. Oh and installing is a ***** 2 (!) dvds. Took my PC about 40 - 50 minutes.

Oh and don't you get the feeling I'm defending them. Fuck them and their choice of taking away dedis, way to ruin a franchise.

EDIT: One more thing: the default keybinding is the most ridiculous shit ever: CTRL for prone, C for crouch, E for knife, Q for special nade (might have E and Q switched around) and 4 for kill streak stuff (kept mashing around on 6 for my god damn UAV).

AND: I didn't like the maps when I played 2v2 last friday (hurr) but now in full 6v6 or whatnot they are really fun.
They have fucking BARS in the PC version?! They mean NOTHING! Green could have a ping of anything, which is a nice way of hiding the lag IW!

After playing MW2 for 4 hours straight, I can safely say that it is my favorite game of all time. The power of grenades has decreased significantly, martyrdom and triple frag have been removed, the multiplayer just seems to be much less grenadey. The weapons seem to be well balanced and I'm having a great time with all of the weapons and perks in the game.

I'm playing on the PS3 version and I am extremely impressed.

I will admit one thing: JTF-2 has one of the best mottos ever. Facta Non Verba (Deeds, Not Words) sums up what being a quiet professional is all about beautifully.

OP- I'm glad that console MW2 is a good experience. Just don't try to tell me that the PC one is if you haven't played it.

I guess I won't be buying it. Rental maybe. I don't care about the multiplayer at all. Why would I? I have Team Fortress 2.

But I DO really wanna play the single player.

That is true to an extent but I think it also suffers from the lesser known effect of Halo Syndrome which is that you will see people from the other extreme who will give it unessercarily harsh judgement due to it's popularity and apparant 'lack of depth' (sorry, not every game can have enough plot to rival most classic novels). You see both extremes.

You've obviously never heard of Canada's JTF2. And that's just the way they like it. I get a chuckle when other countries brag about their elite soldiers like they're the only ones in the world. There's a reason why nobody knows about Joint Task Force 2, they don't want you to.
When I mentioned the thing about the SAS being the most badass guys ever I was in fact joking (fair enough if it wasn't clear, satire and sarcasm are hard things to express in the written word without being ostentatious), both of the Modern Warfare games have the SAS portrayed as being comprised of one man armies (hell, the first time you see them in MW2 it only takes two of them to eliminate a large number of Russian soldiers, and that's with no losses), completely ridiculous but entertaining.

These guys are so secretive about their training, weapons and operations even Canadian Regular Forces soldiers couldn't tell you much about them and by other countries standards, Canadian soldiers are all special forces. Now imagine what it takes to be in the JTF2... Canada has some of the, if not the best overall trained soldiers in the world and have been named the number 2 most feared army worldwide next to the Israelis.

I know that's gonna piss off some Americans, but the truth hurts. Among our accomplishments we have the best snipers in the world, but its the Canadian's humble nature that prevents us from the bragging and self-aggrandization that other countries exhibit, but I digress. (And yes I'm former military)

I'm really looking forward to playing this game as soon as I can find the time to go get it and play it. So roughly around 2016 I'm guessing...
Yo you should really create a fan site dedicated to thes uber 1337 warriors! You can be the president of all the JTF2 fanboys as well if you like.
But yeah fandom aside, cool story bro!

I got it yesterday and it`s good ,bit annoying at times i mean seriously
WHY THE HELL DOES GENERAL SHEPARD NUKE D.C(well technically he detonates the nuke above D.C causing an EMP blast, but whatever) AND KILL YOU AND GHOST(who sounds supiciously like Gaz),IT.MAKES.NO.SENSE!! also Price should be ashamed of himself for getting his ass handed to him by a 60 year old man who has just stumbled out of a helicopter crash
also multiplayer doesn`t look like it`s changed much special forces moode looks cool though another thing that annoys me is the fact that they seem to kill everyone off ,when they pulled it on Jackson and Al-Fulani in the original it was shocking because they were well spaced out ,in MW2 some PC seems to be dying or dead every five minutes including somewhat hilariously when
they blow up the international space station killing putting you in the shoes of some bloke on the station who is goven no name or personality whatsoever ,it was possibly the most pointless break in the story IMHO

I'm aware that MW2 threads have been done to death lately but most of them have been angry PC gamers speculating over how this one game represents the ruin of their ways (not literally but you get my point, most of said threads have been centred around people's nit picking of what's been left out rather than the game itself).

I bought it earlier today (for the Xbox) and have played it for a few hours (both single player and online).

My initial thoughts? I'm impressed.

So far it's been a pretty good game, I've shot people, I've been shot at by people, I've been reminded that British SAS members are by far the most dangerous badasses the world has ever known and I've had a good time doing it.

The infinately respawning enemies did get annoying (along with their unhealthy obsession with chucking grenades at me) and multiplayer is still plagued with campers and balance issues like it's predacessor, these things keep it from being a masterful example of how a game should be but weren't big enough concerns to keep me from liking the game overall.

By no means am I expectimg many people to agree with my view but I would like to say one thing, PC gamers have placed this game under scrutny for missing out a few of their favorite things (which essentially makes it a direct twin of the console version in effect) and yet I (on the allegedly 'stripped down' version of the game) still managed to have a great time playing, what's keeping everyone else from doing the same?
Not to argue or anything, but I have a question. If you had MW1 on xbox, and now you bought MW2 on xbox, what changed from the first game to the second? On PC the change was from night to day, so yea im sure the single player was awesome, all 5 hours of it, but that was never the issue at hand with the PC version.

Oh was it a nuke? I was expecting a nuclear blast but there was only a slight puff of air :p

I cannot stand this idotic 'cool story bro' meme.

It's getting to be as annoying as a certain bakery related one.

As for MW2, the campaign is a (short) masterpiece, one of the best I've played, definately the best FPS since Half Life 2.

Multi is fun, the weapons have more kick and look fantastic, there is not as much grenade spamming.

Martyrdom IS still there, but cheap assholes dropping nades out thier dead assholes only happens when they get killed three times in a row. The fourth time.

250 miles is really nothing. I play with people 3,000 miles away and have zero noticeable lag 99% of the time on the 360 version. Now, if you're playing someone from Japan in the US, yea you'll notice lag, but that situation rarely arises. P2P lag is greatly exaggerated.
