That about sums it up.

Even trying to play for fun is difficult, as most people in that game are honorless bastards, and it quickly turns into a competitive rage-fest.
Very true. There doesn't seem to be any sense of fun in the MW community, just competitiveness and hostility.

The solution is so simple too... bullets have knockback power, like in real life.

I know MW2 isn't realistic in general but come on... someone knife lunging you through a hail of bullets? Fuck that. They should be stopped in thier tracks when shot.
Or a shotgun to the chest, yet they don't stop. Or, a headshot, or 2. I'm pretty good with the L86. And I got a guy, 12 feet away, and got him in the head twice. With stopping power and FMJ.

I could also point out the stupidity of a knife going streight through a bullet-proof jacket...

Something else I've seen and hate, is modded weapons. People using weapons like the FAL and M21, and getting fully automatic fire. Yes, it is possible to fire quickly with them (I too can get fast fire) - but this is complete fully automatic.

Since I've switched to BC2, I really have calmed down. I haven't woken someone up at 8AM by screaming profanity down the mic at someone...

Commando - is too good. Commando pro, is very useful, jumping off high stuff - but lightweight and commando - FFS, often I've shot the guy enough times to kill him, yet I die.

I honestly believe marathon and lightweight(even when not used together) throw off bullet registration. Now, Im not bragging, but my aim is beautiful. I use a FAL, so theres pretty much no spread, and I shoot it fast enough(I get at least 2 messages every day asking how I got an automatic FAL). I can usually empty it before a guy empties his full auto gun. However, when someone is rushing me with either of those perks, nothing hits.
Do you use the red dot on the FAL? Because apparently its aim is off. I've noticed it a few times. The iron sights and holo are fine though.

I agree though... often when one of those marathon lightweight commando douchebags rushes me I could swear I shot them more than enough times to kill them yet I'm the one who gets killed.
Usually extended mags or more frequently a silencer (scavenger, cold blooded, ninja(all pro)). I can work my way around a map several times like that, usually undetected, killing before they notice me.

Same here, I still get frustrated by it when I'm doing well.

By good do you mean 'go positive in most matches' or 'have a 4.1 K:D' ratio and almost every game'?
positive mostly
like just now, i got 9/6 and was still annoyed because i died repeatedly from one guy, then had a major good run

meh, shit happens.

but seriously, lag and camping is new to "Pro-5nipez665"? that doesn't make any sense, unless he is absolutely new to all multiplayers in existence.
Believe it or note, both Lag and Camping are largely inapplicable to BC2. I don't mean to shamelessly plug the game, but I'm just saying, camping in a corner becomes far more difficult when you can simply remove the corner. ;)

Granted, you may come across it once or twice, but it's a surprisingly rare occurrence.

OT: You really hit the nail on the head OP, excellent job. I can't agree more with your point on lag. Thank's to IW's refusal to include dedicated servers, I had perpetual lag that only served to enrage me further.

Also, has anyone else noticed that the game's framerate actually starts dropping in 4-player splitscreen? Very annoying for hanging out with buddies.

Note: Fantastic prose by the way.
lag is a really big problem for me in BC2, as i seem to chronically disconnect from the servers.
Also, Isla innocente and a lot of other Rush maps are great places for snipers to spawn camp
Really? Hurm, I just dismissed lag as a problem because I've never encountered it , and my internet connection isn't even that good. :p

And I will admit that camping snipers can be a huge pain in the ass, but regardless, camping is far less of an issue than in other games.

And don't get me started on Turtle Beaches. One thing I hate more than campers and killstreaks are the people who'd pay just to be better at the game, whether it's people running or joining 10th Prestige lobbies or people running out to waste hundreds of dollars on specialty headphones. Still, I'd like to be the CEO of Turtle Beach right about now.
Dude... Turtle Beaches rock, they improved my experience with every game. You should hear the crack of Ol' Painless or the screams of a Necromorph through a set of those babies...

And they didn't cost me hundreds, they cost 70 Euros!

Is BC2 really that good? I've heard mixed reports. A lot of people complain that the controls feel awkward and clunky compared to COD.
Alright, I can see how single player, ultra-immersive games would be awesome with Turtles, but using them in a multiplayer game just feels cheap. And yes, BC2 is awesome. It's not that the controls feel clunky, they're just different from CoD, and the default sensitivity is way low. Once you get used to them, and turn up the sensitivity, they're not bad. And the much better gameplay more than makes up for it.

I dunno, I like the way the game sounds through my headset and I can never seem to play as well with my shitty TV speakers so I don't consider it cheap.

I really have to give BC2 a try. Everyone is telling me I'd love it.

Well, if you can never seem to play as well without your headset, imagine not having one. That's the majority of players. Like it or not, it is giving you an advantage you wouldn't normally have. And yes, get BC2. I can't say for sure that you'd like it, but it's worth a shot.

Ok, first, I like to play a stealthy class so I like that they help. All it really helps with is you hear which side people are coming from. people with surround sound probably have an even bigger advantage.

Second, there's so much fucking air support all the time that sound whoring isn't really on the cards.

Third, it's hard to feel guilty about using a headset in a game containing Commando Pro, Noob Tubes, Thermal Scopes, Akimbo shotguns and the nuke!

Yeah man, I wasn't attacking you. Besides, none of this matters to me, since I've given up CoD. Im'a trade it in next time I'm at Gamestop for one of the new Pokemon games, or maybe Splinter Cell.

Oh I know, I just felt I should clarify that the headsets aren't that much of an advantage, but they do increase the enjoyment and immersion factor a lot and would recommend them to anyone!

It's great wandering through the Capital Wasteland and hearing the wind gently drift around your ears... really gets you into it.

Like a abused wife(or women) I keep on coming back to MW2
I quit for 2 months, went back for a week and am now losing all interest in it.

Joined a game last night, spawned into an airstrike, match ended and I record a loss, said 'fuck this' and went to play Fallout 3 instead.

I don't recognize myself in this. I get annoyed at times, but I never rage, because I figure that I'm not skilled enough to do better than I do. But the melee distance of commando is rather ridiculous. And akimbo rangers or 1887's are quite ridiculous as well. I saw a killcam of a guy killing another guy (winning kill) by firing his akimbo rangers 3 meters to the right of the target, at point blank range. Apparently the heat of the muzzle flash or something is lethal, because no shotgun with any barrel to speak of has such an insane spread.
Shotguns have a spread of around 1 inch per yard of linear travel, meaning that if he was aiming 9 feet to the right at pbr (<5 yds maybe?), he missed by 8 feet 7 inches.

Yeah, i think the muzzle blast did it...

I never understand how shotgun spread works.

I saw someone get shot Zombieland
Bill Murray
lately and had a hole blown through thier chest a couple of inches wide... surely a shotgun to the chest would pretty much blow half someone's body off?

I would call myself an average player at best at MW2, I have never gotten a nuke no matter how hard I try. The one time I get a 30kill streak I hadn't the nuke equipped :(

Anyway, MW2 has too much in it's multiplayer and does make it unbalanced. Causing my anger to boil over, mainly with the LAG argument. Unloading into an unaware enemy only for him to knife you is borderline disk snapping.

this is why i have switched back to mw1, the nicotine patch that slowly lets you back down into having a life

also, i got a sweet ass set of turtle beach headphones marked down to 65 american dollars at the store that works on everything i have, so i am very satisfied and immersed during anything =]

Yeah, they're an essential part of my gaming time now, dunno what I'd do without them. If you get a chance, play Dead Space with them... hell of an experience.

As for going back to COD4, I did that too. Despite the annoyances of frag spam and Martyrdom, it's definately the more fun game.

It doesn't look as pretty and colourful, it's a bit more rough around the edges but the pace of the game is faster and more fluid.

And every match doesn't turn into a U.S Air Show.

'Enemy Harriers incoming!'

the lag in this pissed me off so much i stopped playing. I substituted with Team Fortress 2 for a while but I think I'm almost back to normal.
