Add to that the fact that most guns kill you in under half a second and yep, it's a huge difference.
Well look at it this way at least GoW3 is getting Dedicated servers or might be there were rumours of it. So hopefully it does and all the people on the xbox 360 who haven't really experienced Dedicated Servers will adn will see it is better. Hopefully this will lead to more console games having Dedicated Servers and Server Lists instead of half server and half P2P with matchmaking.

It all comes down to the fact that even though the game is completely unbalanced and bullshit it is the most played video game on Xbox live for an entire year straight. Not to mention there's an entire Youtube channel (Machinima Respawn) that is dedicated to that game and each video there gets over 100,000 views!
In fairness, Respawn does do other games, it's just that MW2 dominates when it comes to the views.

If Hutch and Seananners do some reach vids, that will probably become the dominant game for a while until Black Ops comes out!

Considering that the neither first Gears (big blockbuster for MS that started something other than just Halo) nor the second had dedicated servers, it would be about time. Otherwise, I do not know of any 360 games with dedicated servers; I'm not sure if Halo 3 even had any, but I cannot remember. Either way, what with the Live price increase, as I said, it's about time.

With the fast pace and high lethality of generally everything in COD, lag easily could make for a wall-punching-frustrating time. Especially since the ~12 year old infestation would likely be screaming obscenities during the lag-filled chaos.

Well see the thing is with the current system it is kinda 1/2 P2P and 1/2 server for some games I think. They do use some servers to help take the strain like with matchmaking but it is mostly P2P. I remember reading something about it but the article was not concise. Although overall it would be amazing to see a full ded line up on consoles.

Thank you for some clarification as I've always been a tad befuddled by Xbox Live's general state for online play. I have not used it in years though, so my experience is before 2008 and then the summer of 2009 maybe a touch when I just could not take the immaturity and never used it. I was so mad that I had renewed for a year because it just wasted away.

me and my friend were discussin how they could make the multiplayer better, and here are a couple of examples:-

-Bring back health meters
-Have Left 4 Dead style health kits
-Have a cover system
-Perks should be optional, and they should also have disadvatnages (e.g. Lightweight makes you sprint faster, but you're limited to one weapon)

Absolutely true, I really can't stand Modern Warfare 2. I mean, at least with games like Halo 3 if the game gets too frustrating, you can always go into a playlist that's less competitive (like Action Sack) or just play some fun custom games with your friends or mess around in forge or theater. But in MW2, there's none of that kind of stuff, and I've noticed that the gameplay is really cut throat. At least in other games I can have fun dying because it can happen in fun ways. Games like Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 have mastered the art of making it fun to get royally screwed over. Some of my most memorable times in Left 4 Dead have been when me and my team is getting torn apart by zombies in either campaign or versus. But in MW2, what's fun about getting spawn killed by a helicopter? Or simply walking around and getting instantly killed by some guy that was camping in some obscure corning of the map with stopping power?

Although I've always imagined the stereotypical MW2 player as a bullheaded, somewhat jocky, but fat or un-athletic guy that enjoys drinking energy drinks and calling people fags.

Ye you would think they would actually do somethign useful with the sub money like a get a proper full time E-Police and MS run dedicated servers for the more intense games like CoD and Halo and GoW.

Health bars would be fine, but I disagree with health packs. Camping is bad enough, and health packs would make it far worse, imo.

The cover system is: Go behind things. Seriously though, I'm not sure how well this would work in cod. It works with gears, but that's third person. I don't think it would make enough difference to be worth implementing.

I like the idea of perks having disadvantages. Though some of them kind of do. If you take stealth perks for example, you're already going to have a disadvantage in that most people will have guns that do more damage due to stopping power. Likewise with taking perks in the same section as bandolier/scavenger means you are going to be low on ammo. So I think that, if it worked, it'd be great, but I think balance would be hard.

Yeah, but every team is randomly assigned a medic, and they need to distribute health packs. If they don't, the team will lose, because the other team will have all their team healed up.

What? You don't like Twitter, facebook, Avatars, and an online community populated by 78% pre-teens post-Modern Warfare 2's release? :p

Honestly, I don't think they can afford to police Xbox Live much because they would probably end up banning a massive chunk of subscribers.

I was honestly shocked that considering the AAA title that Gears was, the sequel didn't even have an improved online system after how awful the first was.

Mww2 is the fps equivalent of wow(for the time being, at least until cod black ops and medal of honor) you're always drawn to it no matter the consequences. I think it's mostly due to immersion as you actually get into a mindset of a soldier and you're always determined to fight, like a type of an over-zealous battle rage.

Or you know they could just add actual classes instead of basically having a pick and mix build system disguised as a class system.

Ah well I supposed given that the people who are idiots probably make up a fiar portion of MS's static user base I doubt anything will be done.

While it is true that host=win, killstreaks=win, quickscoping=annoying I must disagree with anyone who complains about the variation in classes or guns being over-powered. Some guns are easier to use than others, but if you change your play-style and class to fit a gun then you can do well with it.
E.G. Vector w/Rapid-Fire+Silencer, Cold-Blooded and Sitrep with smoke grenade and throwing knife can work if you do it right, will epicly fail if you play it like tar-21 stopping power
