Worst part for me is that I always seemd to run into scenarios where every enemy in the section was armed with either auto shotguns or P90's

TO HELL WITH THE P90!!!
My god, I met a guy online using akimbo P90s... I swear to god I wanted him to explode.
May he explode into a billion little peices and may those peices be set on fire

The only achievement that I don't have for COD4 is to beat that goddamn level on Veteran.
Dude if you beat 'Heat' you can beat Mile High CLub. Don't give up... it took me a madness inducing three hour session to do it... one minute mission, you can imagine how many times I died.

You just need to learn where the spawns are, get a pattern going and stick to it, and eventually you'll get very lucky and find yourself...

...shooting the hostage and restarting....
That would suck. To make it all the way through, not dying once then BAM! Shot the hostage.

I'd probably throw my controller at the Xbox, then kill myself.
I think almost everyone shot the hostage at least once, hehehe.

The game is just as hard on easy as it is on veteran. Apparently all enemies have pinpoint aim at your eyes and they shoot paintballs full of strawberry sauce. The main difference between Recruit and Veteran is that it takes them 5 bullets to kill you after you are blinded instead of 50.

Is it just me, or did MW2 have a really easy veteran mode? I have never been shot 3 times from about 10 feet away in the game and lived to tell about it. I like the game, and it's kinda nice having the frustration level so low but it just doesn't seem like veteran. I haven't threatened to strangle Infinity Ward's CEO the whole play through. Is it easier for anyone else?
I think it's because they got rid of infinite enemy respawns.

I have yet to do Veteran, but the campaign was rather easy on normal.

Though I did find two bits very challenging:

The smoke and mortars in the woods, and defending the house from the seige right after that.

Not looking forward to those parts on Veteran... still, they can't be worse than Mile High Club.
both of those parts gave me hell on veteran, but I didn't play on normal so I can't say how much worse it was. Both probably took me about a dozen tries though.

I don't know what game you lot are playing, but after two hours of being pinned in a house in Rio Di Janeiro (on the first mission there), dying every time I did anything other than cower in a corner and weep, I'm inclined to believe that Veteran difficulty was bloody hard.

Fuck it, the achievements aren't worth it.

Lemme guess, they keep throwing a constant stream of flashbangs through the windows?

I got pwned. I had the full 1000G. Then my sodding Xbox died and my hard drive got scrapped by the sodding insurance company. No connection to Live at the time, so I had to restart everything. Haven't managed Mile High Club yet again (but I've done everythig else).

Nope! I'll give you a runthrough of my first few tries...

Attempt 1 - Guy in window across alleyway. Shot him. Guy round corner reloading. Shot him. Two guys in room through next doorway. Shot them. Scan rooftops. Nothing... Get shot from someone through the roof.

Attempt 2 - Guy in window across alleyway. Shoots me as I break cover.

Attempt 3 - Sprint to other side of house. Guy that was reloading runs in and shoots me in the back.

Attempt 4 - Take out guy in window and guy reloading. Sprint to other side of house. Guy comes in through doorway and shoots me.

Attempt 5 - Take out guy in window and guy reloading. Flashbang the room and run in, shoot first, knife second. I have no idea where I was shot from...

I couldn't go out from my hiding place for more than four kills without something killing me with a single shot from across the map. Usually behind a brick wall for good measure.

Two things: first, I am elated to hear that infinite enemy respawns are gone, because I am a cowardly sneak and sniping everyone from a distance appeals to me so much more than rushing in with SMG blazing. Second, from the looks of it, akimbo P90's aren't that bad in comparison to akimbo G18's - G18's are FAR more accurate firing from the hip.

Yes... I fucking hate Heat.

I beat Heat on Veteran after I beat Mile High Club on veteran.

It was never really that hard, it just took patience, even mile high club only took about an hour or so if you had a guide

Never speak of Heat... Whenever I think of that mission I go into a white flash of rage and later wake up with blood on my hands. And this was on normal difficulty.

The entire map three is made out of cardboard and stray shots aimed at allies can kill you through several walls. In Spec Ops, my record is shooting through 7 walls in a row. Try to not stay in a line with both enemies and allies.

I finished the campaign in Veteran, and while I wouldn't say it was super hard, it wasn't a cake walk either. Had a few rough spots, but nothing I struggled with. The Spec Ops missions on Co-Op aren't too bad either, but hectic fun.
I'm starting it on Vet soon and I'm wondering what tactic you used for defending the lodge from the siege of enemies trying to shoot up the hard drive thingy?

That was the only mission bit I found tough on normal, it seemed like a very sudden difficulty spike.
I bunkered down in the room in the back of the house. The one with all the machine guns on the blankets.

Get a sniper, kill them as they come in the door, and get a MG and kill them as they come up the stairs.
Cool thanks.

Just did the first act on Veteran, it feels challenging but a lot more fair than COD4 ever did.

The favela misison was tough enough but doable once you take your time and snipe off the rooftop guys.

I love not having infinitely respawning bad guys and grenade spam, makes it so much more fun.

The trick with that level is to push forward as slowly as possible.

Right when you start, just hide behind the big dumpster and move to the left and right to pick guys off that come running towards you.

The only hard part is that they can be very tricky to spot, they tend to blend into the scenery on this level a lot.

Once you've killed enough of them that the gunfire dies down, move forward to the next spawn point, go backwards and use the two burned out cars for cover, watching for flankers on the roght hand rooftop.

From then on is where it gets tougher... good luck with that!
