I'm sorry for annoying everyone by creating a whole thread just to delete my account, but I've tried messaging the mods and it keeps saying "you can't send messages via a proxy connection", which is weird because I'm using the WiFi at home as always.

Anyway, I'd like to request that my account be deleted.

It pains me to have to make this request. I first started lurking on the Escapist forums in 2009 (yes, it's weird that I waited until 2013 to open an account), so this website's provided me with years of enjoyment.

Thanks to the mods for all their good work! Unfortunately though, it's time for me to go.

Thank you!

They can't (to the best of my knowledge, staff would have to do that and the staff isn't hanging around the forums).

Also, why not just log off? Boom. I have now solved your problem. You may email me some money at your earliest convenience.

From what I recall, there are technical issues associated with outright deleting an account. The best you can do is simply request that you be perma-banned.

Although like tippy says, you can just log off and be done with it. Hell, just don't visit the site for a long enough time and the cookie associated with your login will expire and you wouldn't have to worry about it after that, either. So you've got some options.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Start telling people what you really think of them and their stupid opinions, and your account will be gone in no time. And I shall be entertained.

I disagree. Go out with a bang - like a naked pictures, or copy most aggressive Trump quotes from Trump without quotations.

Well, they might not want this account used against them in the future. My Escapist account was heavily documented and used as a basis for personal attack after me even after I stopped posting here. There's a reason my profile no longer contains any contact information (and, in fact, the email associated with this account doesn't even give a last name), and in fact only two pieces of information, period (one of which I'd remove, but I'd have to pore over thousands of posts looking for places I identified it anyway, so it's not worth it).

There are legit reasons "just log out" might not work for someone, so it's always weird hat people always feel the need to suggest it.

Call everyone an asshole. Swear at a mod. Make a thread challenging one of the two staff members left to a knife fight with copious amounts of insults directed at their lineage. Post memes in every thread like some asshole fresh out of 4chan. Go out with a bang, not a whimper!

Or ask for a lock, that's probably the less-dick move.

Now, pick your poison!
Apparently this used to be a thing around here when these kinds of threads were made, so fuck it, I'll bring it back! Unless the mods tell me to eat a dick politely discontinue my memery.

Or just delete the cookie? Even then logging off would literally take magnitudes of time less than either of those. Especially considering the login cookie would be expire in something like 20 years.

Its not weird if they don't know those reasons.
It is weird to assume that these are the only reasons. It's weird that people feel they need to tell others to do so, as though the obvious was some lifehack.

If you don't want to use your account anymore, I would advise you to log out the account and not use it, but I don't believe it is possible to delete it I am afraid.

The best you can do is:
1. Remove any information from the account you wouldn't want someone to find.
2. Change the password. Make it a really long string of random characters of all types.
3. Don't save the password, anywhere. Seriously, forget what it is.
4. Logout.

The best way (read most entertaining) would be to use the code of conduct as a check list and give your self challenges, see how many rules you can brake in one post, how many you can complete before mods notice and ban you, see if you can do them all in order. Try to start with the weirdest, like ban jumping some how with out yet being banned (time machine helps here).

Or, you know, just follow the sensible advice people have posted above. Either way will probably work.

I can imagine reading that post.

"By the gods...this man has broken every single rule in a single post. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Even the ones that contradict each other! He broke rules we didn't know we even had.!"
