I find it highly unlikely, coming from anyone, that's just a baseless statement. Voice actors or whatever don't make a game better if the game itself isn't good.
Damned right! Just like good actors won't stop a movie from being terrible, even more so in the case of Voice Actors.
Not to mention that I feel a bit out of the loop by not knowing who the fuck any of the aforementioned voice actors are.
I don't think BioWare are in any position to criticize someone for over-hype - the flagrant arrogance of their pre-release campaign was uncanny
Aside: British household names for a British game can only reel individuals in - especially the harder to hit market "non-gamers".
He just better have the script to back up these "funny men".
I feel out of the loop here as well, but then again until late last year I wasn't concentrating nearly as much on finding out more about games and getting into sites like the Escapist.
Regarding Which release? Mass Effect 2? If so I'll agree, it's a decent enough game, but there's not exactly anything special about it, characters were somewhat bland in my opinion as well, though the story was well told.
However in a lot of cases BioWare have been right in their hype. For example "Dragon Age: Origins" (and to a lesser extent its expansion pack which was a bit over-hyped) is considered one of the greatest games ever made (and my personal favourite). It had great length, sensational characters that I actually gave a shit about (that's really rare too, me caring that is), an epic story, etc, etc.
However, compared to Peter's work BioWare sit silently in the background whilst Molyneux waves his dick in front of the world to sell endless copies of what end up as quite average games, though entertaining one can't help but feel that the mood is too mixed, with constant mood changes from retarded crap (ie. Entire Villages being 100% retarded) to serious, dreary plot elements (ie. Fable 2, spending 10 years as a slave in the tower that you were trying to infiltrate, almost entirely forgetting why you were even there). I will say though that I enjoyed Fable 2 a great deal, but I can't state enough that the "comedy" contained in it is more or less there to compensate for some poor voice acting and short main story length.
