Then you have learned nothing. Fable 1 and 2 had ridiculously awesome features that were promised to us as well. Fable 2 was supposed to have a completely open world with no fences you couldn't jump over and active time passing, claiming we could see trees growing in real time. Or that playing as a woman had any significant impact on gameplay.

It might become a great game, but I can't imagine all of these features ending up in this game. Or very crippled, like maybe having one weapon that can change its appearance if you do a fully scripted quest for it.

Could be worse, Morrowind could still have the six different language skills, which were useless because none of those creatures would actually talk to you anyway, like Daggerfall.

Generally the changes between iterations of Elder Scrolls games is removing useless crap. The only salient advantage Morrowind has is that it is more visually distinctive, whilst Oblivion is standard fantasy guff, and the level scaling system didn't give the best gear to random bandits, making Daedric/Glass items rare and special.

as with fable 2, Molyneux isn't making a game, he's making a TOY.
A spiky toy which will hurt you if you want to play it, rather than throw it on another guy.

all I want is a fable that can't be beat in a day. but a sword makes me skinny? sounds like we're getting a bit silly here. I've often thought of getting into the slave trade though... this could be my in. fallout 3 wouldn't let me kill children but if I can kick them, I figure that should be good enough. and who cares about HUD and experience? that's something I'm kinda looking forward to.

Sorry, but what? I never, in the 2 years (E3 06 announce to release) I was following Fable 2s development, heard ANYTHING about growing trees in real time. Even if that was the case, how long does it take to grow a tree? What unit of game-time would have to pass to see any change? even as an idea that's incredibly stupid for a game feature.

And as for "Fable 2 was supposed to have a completely open world with no fences you couldn't jump over " you clearly never paid attention to his phrasing. In one of the GDC demos he makes it pretty clear through what he's saying and what he is making the Fable avatar do that it wasn't open ala Oblivion. You bought his PR spin. Don't scream about his game having features he never actually specified.

Point about the female character is agreed though. He also said in early interviews that they were doing away with the HUD in Fable 2.

This just in, Peter Molyneux is often full of shit and dreams that never materialize in his games and he seems to think quite highly of himself.
Dreams that will never materialize...hmmmm. So have you ever dreamed about making a game, or maybe a few games? If you did, how many of them have actually been made?
I'm sure peter is still living his dreams more than you are.

It's funny that someone can criticize someone on game design without making one good game in his entire life.
Just like it's funny how someone can read a post and completely miss the point, which was that Peter Molyneux has great ideas (dreams) that he talks about before a game is released that always interest the players and then those ideas are never implemented. Look at Black and White or Fable and the pre release interviews and note that about half of what he promises for both titles never made it into the final cuts. Then take a good long look at your life and do us all a service by never opening your mouth or typing another word again.

Good day! :)

I distinctly remember molyneux talking about the environment aging as you did, including growing trees that he wanted to implement in the first game and the second. Considering your character goes from child to old man in both games based on your leveling and the story, 60 some odd years of tree growth would be noticeable.

by the looks of things I'm one of the few people who actually enjoyed both Fable games, although the "job" system in 2 was horseshit, and I think this sounds interesting. Say what you will about the man and his tendency is overhype his game, but atleast he's constantly trying new things. For that, he gets my respect.

So he's taking away basic stuff, making the game frustrating to play?

EDIT: Actually, so long as the health system's better that MW2's then that's fair enough.

Instead of orbs, a character's followers will decide his level of stature in the game. T
Hurray everyone democracy has finally come to the video game world! I always wanted my character's level to be decided by the sheer will of my pixel peers.

Pixel Pal 1 "He fought off those bandits and saved the village I think he's a 10!"

Pixel Pal 2 "Well he kicked my damn chickens so I think he's a 4!"

Pixel Pal 3 "Hey, didn't any of you see how he "touched" those children back there? I think he a 20 to life...sorry I think he's a one."

Pixel Pal 2 "Fuck it lets give him the RROD!"

Pixel Pals 1,2 and 3 "Yeah! RROD,RROD,RROD!"

I want to make my character look like Mr. Kimura (or however that's spelled) from Azumanga Daioh. That way if and when I do those things the guilt of doing so will be assuaged by the hilarity of it.
You are a terrible, terrible, HILARIOUS person. :p

Molyneux has promised greatness before. I'll let this one pass through the general populace before I give it a try.

I'm a bit hesitant about the new experience system, but I like to try new and interesting things in video games.

What makes Oblivion the most interesting is the user created content you can find online. True, Morowind's story, items, and quests were better, but I found it difficult to use. Oblivion, howwever, does the complete opposite: it looks great but is blander than canned alfredo sauce. So I wuldn't say that Morrowind is visually distinctive as much as it is playably distinctive.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR,

You're just a stupid fuck who jumps to conclusions? While I did play Morrowind I truly hated it. At the time of playing it I had recently played Fable which was much more simplified, Morrowind's non combat system and npc encyclopedia dialogs totally confused and frustrated the fuck out of me. So no I am not another Morrowind fanboy you twat, I meant Oblivion was over hyped all by itself, not being compared to Morrowind, Dont believe me watch the E3 demo of that game and then tell me there wasn't blatant lying that Peter himself would be jealous of.

The only thing that could anger me about Fable and Peter's habit of Changing gameplay mechanics upwards of 86.666%, is if he decided to change his likable simple characters designs into something resembling the Elder scrolls.

Marriage is only feasible in Video Games if the other character looks hot. Personality and Wealth count for Shit in Video games (Or less than shit since it sells for 1G).

Behold the power of editorial ellipses and creative ordering:

"In addition, there will be a "touch" mechanic in Fable 3 that will allow players to ... play with ... children ... as they gradually pull harder and harder to get away ...

"Look ...! It's completely clean!" Molyneux added.

"Molyneux apparently wasn't supposed to reveal as much as he did..."
