fable 2 failed to impress me so i am wondering it i should actually give a shit about fable 3. molyneux needs to stop trying to reinvent the wheel and start making good games again. maybe then the few people who haven't written him off as a self important prick will actually pay attention to anything he says again.

there will be a "touch" mechanic in Fable 3 that will allow players to punish or play with children
Fox news will be all over this. "OMG CHILD CRUELTY! PROTECT THE CHILDREN!"
Yeah, I thought the same thing. Well, looks like it's safe to assume at this point that Australia sure as hell won't be getting Fable 3! :)

Child makes fun of old lady who falls over.
You punish said child with light flick on the ear.
Michael Atkinson: "OH MY GOD, IT'S A CHILD TORTURE SIMULATOR! QUICK! BURN IT! BURN IT WITH FIRE! PROTECT TEH KIDDIES!!
A little off topic I know, but can you explain to me (and everyone else) how Australia works exactly when it comes to banning/allowing games? The rules seem pretty dictatorial for a democracy. Thanks.
Video games in Australia are roughly equal to titties in America. Neither cause any real damage but they MUST BE CENSORED TO PROTECT THE CHILDREN!!!

Here we go Molyneux running his mouth again, getting you excited to then just crush your hopes. I do respect the man, but gah it's frustrating when he promises so much only to be let down in the long run. IDK what it is about Fable 3 though that is getting me excited.

Has no one remembered that it's going to use Natal? so this "punish" mechanic will probably involve you actually having to perform the action

Y'know...one of these days developers will realize that regenerating health is NOT such a great idea and only serves to over-simplify games and remove the feeling of dread from things that should be truly frightening.

That's just me though.

EDIT: Before this turns into a flame-war (very possible) I'd like to say that SOME games use regenerating health well but an RPG doesn't seem like an appropriate genre to have it.

As a hardcore RPG gamer I just gotta say, this actually sounds good, why the heck would I be angry? if there is somthing that is needed in modern fantasy games then its fantasy! sounds original and I cannot wait to play it.

SO.

No armor, no health, no mana, cant die...THIS IS NOT A VIDEO GAME ANYMORE.
Goodness I hope you're not serious.

Sounds like they're changing fable into a story driven adventure game rather than a P&P based RPG, which is A-Okay with me. Maybe the re-classification will cut down on some of the mindless vitriol.
Did you play fable 2?

No mana, you couldn't die, ever, no armor.
What is the point of a game if there is no challenge?

You can go through the entire game with the stuff you start out with.
I'm not concerned with your personal feelings on the game. I was only pointing out how foolish it would be to consider the design choices mentioned making fable 3 "not a game". If a table is wobbly, I don't shout "That's not a TABLE!" And the thought of your post being serious is just the kind of over-reactionary BS that infuriates me.

People have learned to take whatever Sir Molyneux says with massive piles of salt. That's what i'm doing here until this comes out

Story driven in what way would that be?

All the Fable games have pretty litesauce with the story compared to ALMOST ANY OTHER GAME EVER. What is the story to Fable 1 and 2...
Pac-man

Mario

Crash Bandicoot

Two Worlds

Crysis

Ect, ad infinitum

Look, I know feelings run high regarding this game for some reason, but please try and think about what you say. As before, I'm not at all concerned with how much you like the game. You didn't like the plot? I don't give a shit, it's still a story drive game. That's a fact, it's just what it is.

I'll believe it when I see it, the XP thing is very meh for me, classic RPGs work fine, but so do ones with alternative level systems, nothing to be angry about, a cleaner HUD is also of the good, I hate cluttered HUDs.

The weapon system sounds interesting actually, if you mainly go for quick stabbing attacks the sword will become something that suits that, where as if you go for hacking and smashing, it becomes bigger and nastier, could work really well if they get it right.

That really stood out in the article when I read it. First Milo, now this... Maybe Molyneux has a few skeletons in his closet? Just sayin'
It's just proof that "Just because you can doesn't mean you should" holds some weight.

Please tell me it's not there simply to fuck around with Natal.

i think that was added in just so Yahtzee can live his dream (Molyneux contacted him the last time, so why not?)

Ugh. Not that "clean HUD" bullshit again. I know a lot of people aren't going to agree with me here, but I didn't like it in Gears of War, I didn't like it in Uncharted, I didn't like it in Prince of Persia '08, and I REALLY hated it in inFamous. I really, really, really would rather have a convenient interface that clearly illustrates the information that I need as opposed to gradually obscuring gameplay more by fucking with color contrast which I NEED IN ORDER TO SEE THE GAME, ESPECIALLY when I'm low on health and need to think fast.

Everything ELSE actually sounds kind of cool, like he's finally getting back into his groove and making a more uniquely tailored experience rather than superficially following some action-RPG laundry list. But god damn. Clean HUD designs are just one of those things that sets me off and instantly makes me not want to play a game.

If a table has no legs, is made out of wet cardboard, then it is no longer a table.

Just like a game without any challenge at all, is no longer a game.

And if someones opinion on a fourm "infuriates" you, I think it's time to quit the internets, you have had too much.

Is it that Fable 3 is going to be controlled by a single button? No. Could it be that Fable 3 has become a puzzle game? Also no. Instead, it sounds like something that would actually make gamers happy, and involves "simplification."
Yes, that's right. All game play will be controlled by a single button. We call the the button the "Play" button. It can be found on your remote control. I think in all reality Molyneux is secretly trying to beat Hideo Kojima to making the first video game that you don't actually play..
