You do wonder if Molyneux has ever heard Xbox Live. One minute on that and he'd be dissuaded of the idea that Xbox owners find it hard to be evil. American or not.

Did Molyneux just inadvertantly defend America? Because I do believe that overseas, America is quite vilified and now he's saying that Europe and Asia are the evil dicks of the world.

Well, they DO tend to start lots of wars, and then there is the Holocaust, and the Rape of Nanking.....and the Inquisition....and the Reign of Terror....

This cant be true... has he been engaged in conversation with a Republican American on CoD4? They say some pretty evil things, I mean come on! Who whispers "I am gonna rape you, oh I'm gonna rape you!" down the mic? Thats just disturbing.
Then that's obviously the ten percent he is talking about. That or they don't play the game. Also, don't group me in with those assholes, I never act like that in an online game.
I wasnt grouping anyone with anyone, my personal experience with them has always been as such when talking anyway and unless you have played a match with me on CoD4 on the 360 then I wasnt talking about you. Also, thats why I have given more information in my later comments. You have to fit all of the criteria that I have laid down, if you dont then you arent an ass. So there. :p

I say he's lying about this one. If the current games of today has taught (Bioshock espicially) it pays off more to be good than evil in a game that offers moral choice. Due to endings or bonus weapons or what not. Though after the piss poor final boss fight in Fable 2, I turned incredibly evil and murdered the first town I came across. Until I realized that killing a whole town does not turn it into a wasteland. It just spawns more stupid commoners.

Oh, and while I'm on the subject, Tell me Peter, when are we going to get the growing vegetation in real time and all that other stupid crap you said Fable 2 was going to have?

Cool study, and very true. I usually pick the good path. I don't like being Evil. The only time Evil is fun, is during sand-box time.

Let me put it this way: Grand Theft Auto not having children makes me sad.

Kids would be more fun to kill.
Pfff, children? I want kittens, gasoline, and flame-throwers!

Oh, and while your at it, I'll take a WWII tiger and a coupla full-to-bursting orphanages. We'll show Molyneux who's not evil.
Horray another chance to use

Maybe the killing of your sister... Maybe.
You could argue that you had to kill her so you could have a sword powerful enough to take on Jack of Blades with and avert a greater evil from befalling the world.

Or, if you're like me, you saw the choice between "Useless character who'll get in my way" and "Really badass sword of ultimate death and destruction" and made the logical choice.

Also, couldn't you take Jack of Blades' mask and put it on, effectively "joining up" with him and burning the world to the ground? It's been a while since I played TLC.

This research doesn't really say a lot...playing evil in a game doesn't necessarily show you're an evil person. This one's on my list of WTF researches.

He MUST be on something. Being evil is fun in a game. If he's talking about Fable II that's where you will only find the fun.

I'm gonna go right ahead and say that it's not MORALLY challenging to be evil so much as it is ACTUAL GAMEPLAY challenging. The "Evil" fabe 2 ending gived you 1 million gold. You can spend that one shopping trip later when you buy Fairfax Castle. I can have a dog who contributes to combat and finds me free johnnies or I can have some pocket change. Oooooh, that's a tough one. Same applies to most RPGs. Evil characters are hated by most NPCs. In FO3 you can blow up Megaton for the Ten penny Suite. The suite is in a far worse location than Megaton (You're further away from EVERYTHING that actually matters, Megaton is a constant sourse of XP/caps for the junk metal selling and there's a chance Moira dies if you nuke it. AKA, being evil has no benefits other than being evil. We'll be evil if the reward is right, but otherwise, sod off, I'll be popular instead.

The only time I go evil in the game is when there's a trophy telling me to. Other than that I play the Neutral savior.

I know it's just an AI, but you can't help but feel sorry for Joe Blow NPC wandering about Fable II's world. The poor fool never did anything to you, right?

Then again, it's also tempting to prance about on the side of good, since all you need to do is hold a few old ladies' hands and walk them across the street, along with pick out a nice enough outfit, and everyone in the entire world wants to marry you at first sight. The fact that I no longer have to do any real work to make people respect me enough to give me like a 30% discount at any shop is more than enough motivation for me not to go around kicking people in the face.

Plus, the one time I actually made an evil character, the fool looked like a troll on a bad day. I just got sick of LOOKING at the guy. If being evil didn't make you such a hideous SOB, maybe I'd bother next time.

Fable 2, the game which forces you to be either a martyr or a gamer (save your ai buddy or thousands of people even though you never see any of them and it makes no difference to the game, or save a young girl or choose your character to be horribly aged instead).
