Make a thread about it...

Seriously, have it polished to get the sratch removed.

The suggestion of having one borrowed and installing it on your hardrive is also good.

If i am reading this right: the disc was in the Xbox...the xbox was hit against the tv.. That shouldnt have upset the disc at all.

Trying to wash off the circles might have caused the problem :p but dents in the disc? well..you're screwed there.

Just borrow another mv2 from one of your friends and download it to your xbox. That way no matter how fucked up your disc is it will still play.

I kind of wish my Mom would break our copy of MW2 right now.

My older brother is playing it 5 feet away from meand for fucks sake I wish he would shut the fuck up.

Every 10 seconds it's either "How the fuck did he get behind me" or "Fucking noob toob faggots" followed by a stomp on the ground.

Really starting to piss me off.

My router broke my copy of MW2. Well, by broke, I mean prevented me from playing online. I've completed single player, and done as much of spec ops as I could with a housemate before it got ridiculous (kill 10 juggernauts using only explosives... Not gonna happen), so it's now essentially useless. Stupid NAT setting, changing to strict for no reason...
Mine changes between strict and normal when it feels like it. I can still play though. What's a NAT type anyway?
Network... something. Google time!

(2 seconds later, or 0.30 seconds, according to google)
Network address translation. All I know is that it's a random thing that can't be changed in the settings for my router either here or at home. And it stops (MW2), or at least slows(Halo), me joining xbox live games. I should really check its impact on other games.

EDIT: Hang on - the school network lets you use xbox live?

There is a device sold in almost any record store called "Skip Doctor" (or CD Doctor or Disk Doctor or any variation of those) that is a one handed thing with a wheel in the middle, and a hand crank. That will fix just about any cd/dvd you have with fine scratches in it. They cost about 20 dollars or so, but I've had one for about 10 years, and I've fixed more of my music/game/movie collection with it than I can count. It's wonderful, and should do the job. Just hope that the CD was the only thing scratched, and not the Rom lens...

It's good to see that no one has suggested that his mum did him a favour or a rant against MW2/the players, because that would be so utterly predictable I may have to murder the internet.

Oh wait.

Smash your Xbox and get a PC
EDIT: You're probably posting from a PC you own, so buy some games for it.

The disc was spinning, so while the 360 tilted, the disc didn't tilt as much.
It made the disc grind against some edge and got destroyed.
It's a known issue with 360s.

Unless you've got the gamestop disc insurance thing, you're screwed.

So,so about 10 minutes ago i was playing team deathmatch in Invasion.Nothing exciting. They my mom came in,went on about something, and when she was leaving, got her foot caught in my recargable wire that charges the controller. This tiled the xbox over so it leaned against the TV.When i open it,it had two grooves, not cracks, grooves,in a perfect cirlce aroudn the rim of the disc. They do not wash off,and i know they came from the tilted disc drive.Any tips?

Note:The disc still work,it goes to the MW2 menu, but when i try anything,it comes up with the 'This disc is unreadable' message.
Yeah same thing happened to me but it was my dog. So I just got a disc from my friend and downloaded it to the hard drive and it works fine,(if not better because theres less noise) just do that.

Wow! That's a pretty major flaw in design for the 360! You can pretty much juggle a PS3 and nothing happens to the disc. I'll remember this next time I plan on moving my 360.

Sounds like you should have gotten disk protection when you bought it at your local Gamestop.

Gamestop, for all your gaming needs.

Take it to a local video store and get it resurfaced. Costs about $2.50 and takes like 2 minutes. In my experience, it has worked about 95% of the time.(Shelf broke while I was playing Saints Row 2 on my brothers Xbox 360. Had the same problem. Resurfacer fixed it like new.)

The top layer of a disk is a protective layer with no data on it. They did that so if something like this does happen, it wont damage the data. Depending on how deep the scratches are, you may be out of luck, but it couldn't hurt to have it resurfaced first.

Resurfacing is kinda like sanding. It will remove a very small layer to keep the disk smooth enough so the laser can read it. You probably wont even be able to see the scratches when done.(This is what the guy at the video store told me, although I have also read they they work by filling in the scratches and polishing the disk so you cant tell.)
