well, I'm, currently reading A Brief History of Time for pleasure. i would assume that counts as nerdy.
I did that!

I reference a lot of movies and games, and tend to quote MC Frontalot.

And I realized exactly how nerdy my life is on Friday: I was at a Magic tournament, sitting and playing Chrono Trigger DS, wearing kitty ears, and drinking Mountain Dew. The only way it could've been nerdier is if I was eating Cheetos (cookie for the sort of reference).
Is that a Retsupurae reference? Namedly the "Super Mario Mild Irritation" one?

When I make a reference/joke about Shadow the hedgehog without even thinking about it, and everyone just looks at me.
"Wow. That character is covering every single cliche action-movie-hero base, yet he's still unbearably awesome for it. *snicker* What's next, is he going to streak his hair red
and black and cry about Maria?"
"... What are you talking about?"
"Oh ... um, nothing."
Or maybe when I see a parody of old werewolf movies, and I'm the only person who gets it. Or when I try to talk about how a group of characters all share similarities (for example, Shadow, The Iron Giant and Hellboy) with someone and all they have to say is "... What on Earth would posses you to even give that thought?

This happens to be my ringtone.

Have you heard the version by Hard and Phirm, it has a cool little intro.

But my nerdy moments are when I start shouting words that don't exist in the English dictionary whenever someone brings up 'Star Wars'.

Nope, but close :) I think the reference I have is older.

Used the term "Zerg rush" when talking to a 60 year old woman, before I face palmed and realized no one in the room, knew what it meant anyway.

When the headteacher in assembly said that there would be free cake if you went to a homework club, I stood up and shouted "the cake is a lie!!!".
The guy who handles detentions understood the reference and let me go.

When I seem to be the only person alive who notices that the entire music video of Kanye Wests "Stronger" are scenes taken from the 1980's anime movie AKIRA.
Your not alone... Whenever I tell people this I get blanks looks and "what is Akira?" Then I know I'm a nerd.

When I open my mouth in public ... usually there's a reference that nobody gets or I'm explaining something in full detail.
